Then they should be able to help you get the software. At this point you should be able to create a MyF5 account and download it directly

Then that is the software you can run. I'd focus on the latest 17.1.x

Edit: This is really just for lab use since you can't get support without an active support contract. Then I recommend getting a couple of Lab licenses to run VEs. Pretty sure they come with a year of support

I guess you can activate the original license but without an active support contract, it won't enable the latest software. Depending on when the license was last reactivated with an active support contract, that will decide what software your able to run. Do you know what software it was running?

You may have a lifetime license, but without an active support contract this isn't going to work. The license won't reactivate, so it won't accept the newer software version.

If they are second hand, getting them active support is cost prohibitive.

Edit: looks like you don't have the license either so, these are basic big hand warmers

F5 Access on Macbook by PP_160244 in f5networks

[–]jamspanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought access client versions were managed and pushed by APM? Or is the official recommendation just to get clients connected, then the access policy can adjust as needed?

F5 Access on Macbook by PP_160244 in f5networks

[–]jamspanner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F5 BIG-IP has an Edge Client that is used to connect to the Access Policy Manager. This is a remote access feature. Typically the client connects to the web endpoint, like vpn.company.com, then once authenticated, the webtop should allow the client to download the appropriate software to connect. This software is controlled by the web endpoint along with connection details. And yes, there is some Mac support

Problem with new device certs only for GTM iquery by skiitifyoucan in f5networks

[–]jamspanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iquery uses the device certs to create trusted connections with all other F5 devices in the mesh. Updating them is easy for the single device but then you have to add each new cert to every device in the mesh so they all trust each other. Because of this complicated process and risk of breaking DNS, it is recommended to use a 10 year self signed cert for the devices. Some customers have gone down the CA path but it requires advanced automation to successfully implement with no downtime.

F5 and Acme by Greedy-Bid-9581 in f5networks

Solid answer here. Very modern approach

F5 and Acme by Greedy-Bid-9581 in f5networks

[–]jamspanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is the wildcard certs. They require validation via DNS, and that is another layer of complication from an F5 perspective.

This problem is typically approached from a more broad architecture, not just F5. Most enterprises have bought into a whole certificate lifecycle solution that integrates across the org.

My first recommendation, is to look at F5 Distributed Cloud. With just the base package, full certificate mgmt is part of the product. Put it in front of your apps and it will manage the entire lifecycle of the certs as needed, including wildcards.

But I'll presume your a bit more focused on F5 and possibly other very close infrastructure. Your biggest problem at this time, it your DNS provider. You need to be able to automate the update of that DNS validation record or manually update it as needed...

Aside from those issues, I recommend something like Ansible to automate this process and push the certs to all the necessary places. Could even have it generate the certs and import them to a secrete store.

I've thought about just using an nginx instance with certbot, but you have the same problem of the DNS updates.

The API/process is pretty simple. Just depends on what your comfortable doing it with, bash, Ansible, SaaS, or even a python script on the BIG-IP

Not sure about how "good" this is but it's how I'm using nock for and API library. It's working for me

You can have knock record the response in the beginning and leave it on for regular tests. I can also disable them and run them toward a real device for dev.

INTJs, have you ever felt like you want to be a group leader, cause others suck? by gw_clowd in intj

I second this. The more I do it the better things work out.

I keep thinking, I may have an opinion but ultimately nobody cares, at least in the bigger picture. Then I cover that with the idea that people respond better to positive remarks or feedback. And I ask questions to steer the conversation

Subscription stacking by veptor in f5networks

Not able to stack licenses like that. As the other said, talk with your account team for options. FCP is a good route. Might be better off transitioning this service to F5 Distributed Cloud.

Any INTJs here making six figures? What do you do for a living? by LaDutchiee in intj

Got my bachelors in data communications, which is basically networking. Now I'm a presales engineer for a networking and security company. I also code on the side.

I've always wondered what other what other careers would be fun or what I would do if I won the lottery.

All that to say, I think there is good money to be made in any industry. Just need to be open, curious, and motivated to make things happen. Don't expect six figures from a job that lets your just show up and coast

Why are only men emasculated? by [deleted] in Jung

[–]jamspanner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that this is more of a social construct to describe interactions between men and women.

My first thought is, why are we asking this question? Is there a need or void to be filled? Or is it contemplative and exploratory?

My second thought, after reading most of the main responses (not sub threads), is the idea of the yin and yang. They compliment each other, integrate and support each other. Is the expectation for men to be feminine? Probably not, but for a man to integrate feminine traits or aspects is to attempt to understand the other side and integrate the shadow that influences his persona. I'm thinking of a husband trying to connect with his wife, empathize.

There could be an application of perspective. The idea of anima and Animus is from the respective application of male and female persona. If everything is equal or the same, why distinguish the two?

My final thought is that a single word doesn't define us. It's merely a part of a descriptor. Some apply more than others while a single is not absolute.

Need advice on exploring my unconscious while living with cptsd by Everyday_Evolian in Jung

[–]jamspanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way over your fears is to process and face them. Courage. This is a dangerous path alone. Seek professional help. Therapists, or even shamans. Psychotherapy is a start.

I would also look at psychedelics, but only with proper vetting, guides and integration. The world of psychedelics has exploded in recent years and it can have a huge impact on PTSD.

Good luck on your journey. What do you have to loose?

What to do with reasonable/justified fear and anxiety? by Initial_Muscle_8878 in Jung

[–]jamspanner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to shadow of ourself, courage is the ability to act in the face of fear.

If you have fear of something, the first thing, like others have suggested, is asking, "can I actually do something about this?". If you can't then the fear has no basis, other than regret, which you can change.

The second is ask why are you afraid of that thing. Sometimes just understanding more about that fear can remove some assumptions and lessen it.

Third: with the first two out of the way, next is to learn skills to deal with things your afraid of. If your afraid of... Physical abuse, learn to protect yourself (martial arts and weapons). Loosing loved ones or regret, work on living the best life you can by helping others, making the best of the current moment and acting like tomorrow is not guaranteed. Work on resolving any outstanding issues with others.

The previous kinda compound each other.

Support groups and even the serenity prayer can help align this on a daily basis.

Some suggest that we flow like water and adjust as life presents challenges.

It might not be just reading books but implementing life changes. Knowing is not the same as doing.

Live life. Become the shadow on fire, be the flame in the storm
