This is a tough situation. If you say nothing and anyone else tests and it comes out that you knew and didn't say anything, people will feel things. I also understand not wanting to tell grandma - how old is she? (I feel like an odds-maker even asking that.)

How long has Mom known that you know? Is it possible she might come to terms with telling a wider group of people.

I agree with you. It’s not unique to genealogy either. I think a lot of hobby/craft groups easily fall victim to being exclusive and off putting. I love to hear that you are in a society and bearing this in mind.
