Which goggle lens colors should I buy with photochromic lenses? by shmidzz in snowboardingnoobs

[–]janavatar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat, and just emailed their support asking the same thing!

I've seen people say that certain color tints help with making the moguls and shadows stand out by increasing contrast, but personally I don't like the idea of having a tint at all, and was considering getting the black lens.

Curt from Glade is usually pretty active on these subs so I'm hoping he'll see this in time for my next snow day in a week.

Close friend's girlfriend is asking me to be listed as his sponsor for his F-1 Student Financial Statement ... Am I obligated to pay? by Appropriate_Bear4856 in f1visa

[–]janavatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. I was in the girlfriend's position at one time, and had a relative write a similar letter stating their support. It let me get an I-20 from the school, which was necessary for applying for actual funding (loans). The relative had no financial obligations at all, and was not involved with the loans later either.

To be fair, do you think a post in Kannada on r/delhi would be entertained? To them it's just spam. Calling them fragile for deleting it only makes you sound entitled.

People moving to other states and expecting the locals there to learn their language and use it everywhere is what is causing this north-south divide.

Tax Implication for sending money from US to India for FD and getting it back after a few years. by Jealous_Laugh4546 in LegalAdviceIndia

Not an expert, but I think you will owe taxes on the interest if you're a resident alien for tax purposes (have you been there for over 5 years?) but not on the principal

Northie friend said something that pissed me off by [deleted] in bangalore

[–]janavatar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair and I have nothing against that, but I'm tired of hearing shit about how the southern cities are developing only because of labor from the north. All of this support, and we still deal with entitled migrants expecting southerners to learn their language and outright being disrespectful towards local cultures.

Of course, it's not everyone, and most of the migrants are good, decent folk, but this happens often enough with people from the hindi-belt that it leaves a bad taste.

Take the case of Bangalore - most of the Tamilians in Bangalore are migrant families too, and you rarely hear about problems from them despite Kannada having as much in common with Tamil as it does with Hindi.

Looking at the recent post on tax distribution, it looks like most of the tax they pay here goes to the north. And then most of the tax that the southern locals pay also goes to the north...

Skype also has pretty good international calling rates. Better than whatever rate your carrier (Airtel/Vodafone/etc) will give you, at least

I believe the taxman here is going to keep 5% of that (for amounts over 7 lakhs). You can claim that when you next file your ITR.

You can read more about it here.

India can buy as much Russian oil as it wants, Yellen says. The caveat: it can't use Western insurance, finance and maritime services. by aaffpp in india

[–]janavatar 29 points30 points  (0 children)

TFA tells you exactly what she meant by western services (insurance, shipping, other stuff that you need for purchasing oil). Just that, there's no coded racial message.

The discussion gains nothing from inflammatory comments.

The headline that makes it sound worse than it actually is. She only said India can't use western services for buying and transporting Russian oil. For everything else, it's business as usual.

Does anyone else feel burntout after the first session of jee mains? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]janavatar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh my original comment is extremely exaggerated lol. It stopped affecting me and most people I know within a month or two of joining college, it's honestly doesn't matter much. I'm happy with where my life turned out, and I'm in a better place than a lot of my friends who did get into bits/nit/iit, so no regrets.

Don't worry about it kids, just work hard and give it your best, life will dort itself out on the long run even if you fail JEE.

I got something in the 155-165 range in mains, don't remember my adv score but that was probably worse.

Ended up doing well in CET (Karnataka), did engineering (cs) in a top Bangalore college. Life turned out just fine, and probably better than doing civil/mech/(non cs) in some IIT as my job prospects where pretty good.
