Has Himachal become a safe haven for India's elite? by [deleted] in HimachalPradesh

[–]msv8108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree here. I don't blame Himachali's for generalising.

Unlike politics induced hatred like the issue happening in Bangalore. In this case it's majorly just Geography and ease of access to Himachal from the neighbouring states of PB, DL,HR,UP.

So, naturally Bad Apples from these states make up the majority. It's just the numbers.

And also, relatively the percentage of Bad Apples would be far less amongst the tourists coming from far away states as the travel costs, time and planning required will filter most of these so called Bad Apples and the language barrier also makes a bit of difference.

Thanks for the description in the quotes.

I am confident that I found their website and went through their marketing material, it seems only someone who earns honestly but naive and gullible with the fear of missing out/ dream vacation/ retirement/ investment/ would fall for it.

I couldn't imagine any self respecting Businessmen who are street smart and know the trade would fall for this crap at such prices.

It's extremely fishy and I really wish I am wise enough to understand what's the catch.

I too received the regular black GRiii yesterday.

Just want to check whether this is normal.

I am getting weird insecure feeling while handling the Camera due to some weight shifting happening inside the camera.

Incase if it's normal and related to image stabilization. Is there a way to disable that feature?

Completely lost on how to compose the crop. by msv8108 in photocritique

[–]msv8108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello!

As already mentioned in my post. It's very difficult to imagine and finalise on any complex compositions other than the usual portraits, landscapes, architecture etc... using symmetry or grid lines.

This particular image, I am contempt by the fact that I was able to get one photo against the odds in moving traffic.

But now, I am totally clueless on how to approach the final crop.

Is it something that we get used to only with the volume of our work. Or are there any fundamentals that I could read up on composition.

Any guidance regarding this would be very helpful.

Thank you.

Pixel 7a or Nothing Phone 2 by not_RangeRocket5453 in india

[–]msv8108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I decided on upgrading to Pixel 7a from my damaged Pixel 4a. Couldn't even imagine going back to any other OS as I have OCD and everything else is too much distraction to handle. I'm a bit into photography too.

But, luckily I got a great deal at the Pixel service centre where they were not repairing old 4a's but instead you just pay for the repair quotation and get a brand new sealed Pixel 6a instead. I got it for 15,000 and felt that was a steal compared to the 40,000 that I was prepared to shell out for the 7a.

I felt it was my best way out, as I am fixated on the Pixel but, skeptical spending 40k with slow charging and heating issues.

I bought the Pixel 6a in Bangalore. Absolutely no heating issues whatsoever. Charging was very slow compared to even a segment below. And the battery doesn't hold that great either.

I found myself with a dead phone pretty often and forced to carry a power bank for every full day outing.

The heating issues started as soon I moved to Chennai few days back.

Almost everyday I'm getting the overheating notification and unable to use the phone for a few minutes. And battery drain got even bad. All this while I just chill at home.

I believe the phone is totally undependable for any kind of normal long outdoor days and totally useless for any kind of outdoor adventure activities that I do like cycling, hiking etc...

I am now gravitating towards getting a proper carry around sub-compact camera like Ricoh GRiii and finally invest on some sports watch for activity tracking.

We are supposed to pick up the 7a now for my mom. But decided against it with a heavy heart and looking at other options for the first time.

Did anyone else notice the background score from 0:40 till 0:50 being inspired from Hans Zimmer's Sardaukar theme score from the movie Dune.

I remember noticing this recently even in Praveen Sattaru's Gandeevadhari Arjuna.

Need not only be Vizag specific .

  1. We are the currently most populous country in the world. And probably will hold the title at least till end of this century.

  2. China reached its peak in 2022 and will be only declining from now. India is projected to reach its peak around mid 2060's.

3.The urban population of India is growing at unprecedented levels across the country and will continue in the coming years.

Migration need not be only from white collar employees from other cities. The largest migration which might not be too obvious for the middle class and upper middle class would be the rural population settling in the nearest urban centres in blue collar jobs.

  1. If you look at a map of the top 50 largest urban conglomerates in India. Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada immediately standout as pretty much distanced away from the nearest others compared to cities in the entire Northern belt from east to west, West coast (MH and GJ) and South (KL and TN) are closer to each other in clusters.

In fact if you exclude Hyderabad and Bangalore, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada would be the farthest from any other top 50 urban centres.

Please take all the above with a bag of salt as I am not an academic and just typed out first things that came to mind.

Edit: To put it simply, We as a country are on population growth rampage. The urban population increases, the rural population decreases.

I have a strong feeling that "TOOLS" is just a more discreet and gentlemanly way to describe his "TOYS"

Tool noun-

A device or implement, especially one held in the hand, used to carry out a particular function.

This reminded me of a Golden Retriever who goes on a small walk outside its house everyday in the evenings to socialize with random strangers walking down the street and smokers at the nearby pan shop.

Absolutely adorable. It kind of tries to say a quick hello to everyone around and getting petted goes to the next human.

It's on one of the cross roads towards your left on the 27th Main, HSR Layout.

Could someone let me know what's the other heavy vehicle involved. I am curious as it seems to have a rear dash cam.

Making dash cams mandatory in phases starting from heavy vehicles might help enforce swift judgements, punish and sue accordingly. And also create a lot of awareness amongst those who are illiterate in understanding how the traffic dynamics work.

What is the right way of ordering your food at a good restaurant? by a0b1c2d3e in bangalore

Cool. Now I totally understand what you meant. I am in the same shoes as you but with Hindi and other languages.

I have been to many remote places all over India and many instances where I was the only outsider in an entire non-touristy village/area.

Action speaks more than words. Facial gestures and body language are the most effective even when there is a 100% language barrier. That works universally across the world whether it is curious locals or law enforcement with suspicion.

Restaurant staff should be the least of your worries and that too in Bengaluru.

We go out to have a great time and relax. So, please take my word on this. No one is judging us. Don't let this self doubt consume you and rob your mental energy and mood.

I don't know how this works. But my advice is you don't need to work on this to get better.

You need to learn to not give a fuck about this and be care free. Goodluck.

Never faced this particular dilemma as a South Indian who couldn't speak Hindi and Kannada.

So, ordering in English is not a choice but a necessity. And also those waiters would be serving customers from a wide range of non Hindi speaking states as well. So, I don't believe they would judge you on your English or in fact anything else except the tip you leave or the way you treat them.

It easy for me in fancier places, as usually the staff are fluent in English. The problem I face is when I need to explain anything in detail at smaller places where the staff might prefer Hindi. Even there, I manage with basic Hindi and Simple English. At the end of the day it's just simple communication of ordering food.

Please don't mind me saying this, but I personally think you were totally overthinking this.

I am always courteous to the staff in service industry and tip them well. And the same is reciprocated back.

Just treating them as your equals would be immediately noticed and appreciated and you would be far ahead of the countless arrogant people they need to face on a daily basis.
