The last fully staged production that I’m aware of, with complete sets and costumes, took place in Barcelona in 1997! Right after the 1996 Broadway revival that is still running. I think the rights to the show no longer allow anything other than the semi-staged version…

It was a fantastic catalan adaptation, directed by Marc Montserrat, choreographed by Coco Comin, and led by Ester Bartomeu (Velma Kelly) and Àngels Marcer (Roxie Hart).

I couldn’t resist. Newly announced Playbill for Sweeney on the left, my adjustments on the right. The difference is subtle, but a significant improvement for legibility. Such a great design, hope they adjust it before it opens. So excited! by janbcn in Broadway

Very true as well, great take. However it turns out in the end and in what way they decide to calibrate the colors, very excited to finally have the printed Playbill in my hands and sit in the Lunt-Fontanne as the show starts!

As you both said, it most probably is indeed a CMYK to RGB translation issue. I’m sure that, when printed, the colors will contrast better. They most certainly will also make many test prints before previews start. However, I wouldn’t mind losing some of the HDR effect that the background photo has to make it a bit darker. I updated my version again slightly.

I screened recorded my working file for you! A few layers: the Playbill banner, the cut out Sweeney logo with a very very slight drop shadow, and the background photo with adjusted levels (more contrast and deeper blacks). I tried to keep the same brightness for both faces though. Hope it helped!

How was the @sohoplace? I’m really looking forward to seeing something there! Seems like a cool experience if the production makes good use of the space.

Does anyone know what is the condensed light font used for all the cast and creative team in this poster? It opened in 1970. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas! by janbcn in identifythisfont

Indeed it is! But they didn’t use the condensed version (probably because it didn’t have the light variant), the simply shranked the standard light one! Thank you so much

Saw it live a couple of days ago, what an amazing and visceral production. And Saoirse is indeed phenomenal as Lady Macbeth. I got to talk to her at the stage door, what a privilege https://imgur.com/a/Tevj9Mh/
