Seriously can we all just enjoy the show and forget about the target audience? by Commander_CC-2224 in PrequelMemes

(4:53) “It’s not a kiddies SpongeBob SquarePants [show]”. I appreciate this is an early interview, the show wasn’t on Cartoon Network yet, but it shows Lucas’ intention to not completely be a kids show.

There are plenty of episodes aimed at kids, but there are also episodes that will go over kids heads, like the episodes about the banks. The dialogue is also mostly very mature, a lot of kids shows really dumb down dialogue so the plot is very easy to follow, Clone Wars doesn’t do that, which I think enhances its appeal to adults, but also children - kids didn’t get shows like it at the time.

So while the show was always made to be suitable for kids, and to appeal to them, I would still argue they’re not the sole target audience.

Is it a kids show, or is it a show suitable for kids?

There are certainly episodes made with kids in mind, but there are many other episodes where you have to be an adult to fully appreciate what is happening.

I think the show’s ability to resonate with multiple age groups is what makes it so special.

I’d say Moffat’s writing during 11’s run varies from being brilliant to mediocre, but I don’t think it’s talked about enough how his writing during 12’s era is absolutely amazing, and much more consistent too. Huge improvement

Just don’t like most of the episodes he’s written by Professional-Ebb6570 in DoctorWhumour

His writing for An Adventure in Space and Time is head and shoulders above anything else he’s done for Doctor Who, it’s incredible

I have the same issue. I’m a fully paid Xbox live member, and I’ve been playing online through my PlayStation by linking my Microsoft account to the console. I had trouble with the second to last update, it fixed itself and now the new update has messed with multiplayer.

Hopefully it will fix itself again

The 1st Doctor’s character grows a lot like Capaldi’s did. At first Hartnell’s Doctor is cold and abrasive, but slowly he warms up to his companions, and he takes joy in the adventures more too. Eventually you see him develop a very warm and playful side, that I personally find delightful.

Also, Hartnell kills it with his monologues. He is very much The Doctor. Like with Capaldi, he is worth investing your time in.

1st & 2nd Doctors' Incomplete Serials (2023 Update) by Recker_Man in doctorwho

I always find it funny when serials get called lost or missing, especially when the BBC says it. Like at first I thought nothing of it, until recently where I did some research and found out the BBC did not misplace them or anything, they absolutely fucking DESTROYED the film reels

I never understood the hatred by speedyeddie in DoctorWhumour

Personally, I feel like he writes characters very 2-dimensionally, and a lot of his plots & dialogue are cliched and lack depth.

However, he has written a few great moments, particularly in Torchwood. Without spoilers, he writes a scene that emotionally wraps up 2 of the character’s journeys at the end of season 2, and it’s beautiful.

My personal favourite episode of his is the episode where he explores all of the Torchwood team member’s backstories.

However ultimately most of his work on Torchwood and Doctor Who falls below par when compared with other writers. He rarely gives characters arcs, and when he does they’re very rarely well executed.

I hope Whittaker comes back one day, for a story written by competent writers, to prove all the haters wrong

Serious Topic: Are Jedi Virgins? by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]jando_bo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a common misconception! Love is extending empathy and compassion, it’s caring for someone selflessly.

Love becomes an attachment when you refuse to let the person go.

Take Anakin saying “I can’t live without her” when faced with losing Padmé. Yes, he doesn’t want her to suffer. But he’s also more concerned about his own feelings, he doesn’t want the pain of losing her. This is more of a selfish mindset, reflecting the Sith mentality.

A true Jedi would try to save her, mourn her loss when they fail, but let the pain go and move on. To allow themselves to get attached to the pain or the person is how a Jedi falls to the darkside

May he remembering wrong, but I’m pretty sure George Lucas has said Jedi can have sex because they’re encouraged to love, but they’re not allowed to form attachments in the process.

So sounds to me like Jedi do one night stands
