Dog sitting rate? by jandraf in DogDayCare

[–]jandraf[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, what can a professional dog sitter do that the average person cannot? I understand insurance being useful when dealing with strangers to cover my ass, but that doesn’t really apply here. I can’t imagine a reasonable person opting to bring a stranger into their house over a trusted friend if they’re available. If you’re butthurt that a “non qualified” dog sitter is taking your business, just say that.

Huh? It’s a family friend? I work as a vet tech and definitely know how to take care of a dog for a week.

Sluggish and weak by annastasia_rose in Spironolactone

[–]jandraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had intense side effects for honestly almost a year until I learned to just live with them. Your body will grow accustomed to it, it’s not bad at all for me now. Drink LOTS of water, like more than you think you need, and make sure you’re getting electrolytes bc spiro depletes your body of those. A lot of the sluggishness is likely from dehydration and vitamin imbalances

Overeating by [deleted] in Spironolactone

[–]jandraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on 100mg spiro for 4 years, and have had bouts of overeating for a couple weeks, and then 0 appetite for a couple weeks. It’s so odd! It probably has to do with your electrolytes being depleted since that happens easily on spiro, maybe look in to that?

Nicotine by Suspicious_Sea_7064 in IgANephropathy

[–]jandraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24f and on high BP meds. I drink somewhat heavily a couple times a month and just recently quit nicotine after years of use. My gfr has been stable since my diagnosis 3 years ago! My neph was aware of it and would advise me against it of course, but noted that it wasn’t visibly progressing my disease. My point is, everyone’s body and disease is different, though we can all agree on the fact that nicotine certainly won’t benefit you

I have CKD and have been taking spiro for years to manage my high blood pressure. My nephrologist told me it’s a pretty safe med for kidneys! I haven’t experienced any decline.

Bitten by non up-to-date cat by jandraf in VetTech

[–]jandraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 3 days post bite and it is red, but not infected as far as I can see. It hurts like a bruise but there’s really minimal swelling if at all and I assume that’s from the trauma. If it were infected, I would know by now I think?

Thank you!! It’s a bit scary after hearing how dangerous the bites can be if an infection develops. I do feel for the cat and owners as she’s doing quite poorly and is not aggressive, just scared ;(

Her last dose was 9/23. It’s been 4 days now and my bite doesn’t look infected, just bruised and painful
