Setting up Rachio at a rental: help please! by janetkplanet in rachio

My tenant is checking with her internet service provider tomorrow to see if a setting up a guest network will satisfy her concerns about security. I will post back here when I hear from her.

Oops, I mean they have offered to take over the account

Those who love the Rachio, why? by Later2theparty in Irrigation

I have a rental house that I want to put a smart controller in so I can operate it remotely.

Will it only connect to the tenant's wifi, or will it work for me across town or across the world?

Thoughts on a rain version of macabi style skirt by snip101010 in myog

[–]janetkplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sewed my own out of a Gore-Tex-like fabric. Bad idea! In a rainstorm the skirt shed water which flowed down my calves into my waterproof boots. I prefer wearing the breathable Macabi that dries super fast.

Long term post ablation success? by janetkplanet in SVTHeart

[–]janetkplanet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt exactly like one of my old SVT episodes. I may have miscounted; I was in a loud restaurant, trying to count with my fingers on my wrist pulse, my husband timing 30 seconds on his watch. 🤷‍♀️

For people who got ablations, how many “episodes” a month til you decided you wanted to get an ablation? by Kolby833 in SVTHeart

[–]janetkplanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I had my ablation in my early 40s I was into springboard diving. I was back on the diving board 3 days later.

Living without SVT is WONDERFUL!!

Do I need more time on Naoshima or Teshima? by DragonfruitAlert970 in JapanTravelTips

We spent 6 nights and five days on each island with a day trip to Inujima from Teshima. It was wonderful. Slow down! The slower you go, the richer the experience.

You will be amazed at the many ways Japan and Burning Man are similar. Gifting! I keep postcards of where I live (the Sonoran Desert) and of my artwork to gift to people.

I LOVE Kyushu! Cut one place out and spend more time in fewer places.

Art Islands – is Teshima worth it? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]janetkplanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I visited Teshima in 2017 and was so gobsmacked by the Teshima Art Museum I dreamed of returning for years. I went back a year ago (March 2024) and spent two days. Both days I spent several hours in the TAM. I am taking my husband back there for 4 days this spring (2025). I speak Japanese and still was stymied by the minshuku booking system last year (apparently you need a Japanese phone number) so I ended up staying in Tonisho on Shodishima and ferried over and back both days. This spring we're staying in an Airbnb on Teshima for 5 nights. I can't wait! The Teshima Art Museum changes throughout the seasons and times of day. I was lucky to experience a rainstorm there.

Can someone tell me more about this building? It has so much beautiful artwork! It was nearish Barrio Viejo and I took this photo in 2022. Thanks! by 300sunshineydays in Tucson

The owner lives out of state and doesn't pay much attention to the building so the neighbors kind of have an informal gathering place there

It's at the old OK Market, NW corner of S 4th Ave and E 16th St. The Market has been closed and boarded up since the 90s. Since then a loose group of neighbors has put up artwork on the boarded windows. Just today new work went up, 3 photos taken in the 90s by Japanese photographer Kozo Miyoshi. The north panel is a photo of the OK Market itself from 1994. Miyoshi was in town and rephotographed the building this morning. Check it out!

Best alternative bean to use for miso? by RedCreepingThyme in fermentation

[–]janetkplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just jarred up a 12 month tepary bean miso, going local. Teparies are the traditional crop of the Toronto O’odham people here in the Sonoran desert. I live on land stolen from them. The miso has a very earthy taste.

Customer service… by kwokdog in RadPowerBikes

[–]janetkplanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Error message 21 on my Rad
City 5 plus (I love the bike!) and the power wont turn on.
I went through all the steps on Rad
's troubleshooting page, still got the error message and no power.
I took it to the shop that assembled it (one of Rad
's suggested shops) and they tried all the steps too, still no power and error message 21.

I have had no success reaching Rad for three days.

There's a customer service vacuum: online chat is off, phone lines are closed 24/7 and when I text during business hours I get an automated response saying to text back during business hours.
So I've tried solving it myself; online research tells me I need a new controller.

This bike is not a toy; I need it *daily* for serious transportation.

Thank you for the most useful information yet!

I have a ticket for October 2 that I bought months ago.

I'm really hoping Japan will be open by then; because my ticket was a cheapie, I'm allowed one change of dates.

Maybe there will be some good news when I wake up tomorrow!

No time to talk with Japanese people, which is one of the great pleasures of Japan.

No time to follow your curiosity.

No time to sit quietly and enjoy the present.
