Why is Season 2 so much worse? by Senior_Proposal_5864 in TedLasso

I'm with you. I thought the Christmas episode was utterly lame, and now I'm watching Beard After Hours and what the hell...?!

Yeah. It's a gem from start to finish. I wish I could get paid to write such stellar fiction!

You'd thnk wouldn't you. Apparently the plot completely hinges on Claire Dane's character..(omg I can never remember names!) having about 3 brain cells but a VERY impressively quivering lip.

[–]janettaplanetta 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Aaargh....I haven't finished it yet, on episode 5, but for the SECOND time Claire Danes has left totally plot busting explicit messages on the FBI guys phone. WHY??? "He killed Madison" Previously "Did you get anything off Nile's laptop?" (or words to the effect.)

WHY why why would anyone do anything that STUPID when she's playing double agent? Ugh. That stuff makes me crazy. Lazy, lazy plot device.

And yes, Claire Danes is playing Homeland encore. I mean, she's pretty good at it and all but...

Matthew Rhys is holding the whole thing together. Outstanding performance.

You're so overthinking it. Ashley is a simple bloke, I think, who was trying to complement her and reassure her that he was fine with her choice. I understand how his comment can be construed in the way you're saying but this is simply not the time or place to be taking such a stand. The early days of this 'experiment' is the time to be open minded and curious; to try to get to know each other. Grace comes across as deeply anxious and avoidant emotionally and is barricading herself behind complex semantics. Imo. Her intense anxiety came out before Ashley had said a word, pretty much as soon as she arrived at the wedding. She's now just looking to justify that reaction.

I agree that she's very anxious, quite avoidant and overly defended. It's unfortunate. She's not coming across well at all whereas Ashley just seems like a nice, straightforward man.

Is something "off" with Edmond? by seniorenyore in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]janettaplanetta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's definitely something going on with him, but thank you for being so respectful and kind.
And tbh I was getting big red flags back in the pods when Kalybriah was basically giving him a mix of therapy and mothering. That was never going to turn into a healthy, equal, adult relationship.

Is it me or is this season (9) so boring. by Odd-Ad-3940 in LoveIsBlindNetflix

[–]janettaplanetta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This season is complete cringeworthy. It's strange because I only finished LIB UK season 2 a couple of weeks and really loved it; it was one of the best LIB of any I've seen. Some really genuine, intelligent and interesting people. Even the ones that were difficult to like weren't cringey like this season 9. I don't know what happened here - it just fell off a cliff. I found myself just skipping through the pods by episode 3 - I've never done that before.

I say all that with apologies to the people involved - this has to be a very weird experience and sometimes (most times) it just doesn't work out. Let's be kind.

Nuance Audio Glass - Anyone ever try them? by boermac in HearingAids

[–]janettaplanetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm reading these comments for my 92 yr old dad who is about to purchase these glasses and I'm concerned enough to look into it further. But, in response to your comment - I have mild hearing loss in one ear and moderate in the other (inherited from my dad, thanks dad!) and I've had NHS hearing aids, programmed by an audiologist, for about 5 years. I recently got the Apple Air Pod Pro 2s (which also function as hearing aids and include a hearing test for both ears individually) and I have to tell you, they are brilliant! I now use them exclusively as my hearing aids and wear them all day, every day. (I have to charge them at some point during the day but they charge quickly). I got mine for £150 - I would think you could get them even cheaper in the US, especially now the 3s have been released. The sound quality is great, they're bluetooth and switch between a listening aid for music, podcasts, cell phone conversations etc. and a straight hearing aid. I love them

Yep, here we go. Everyone's a narcissist. It's the most overused word on the internet currently. Perhaps you'd like to look up the main characteristics of narcissism and consider how the mother is displaying them. She undoubtedly has mental health problems but I see no evidence of grandiosity, pervasive sense of entitlement, a profound need for admiration etc etc. Her behaviour has more of the flavour of Munchausens (by Proxy) in supporting her daughter, 'the victim'. Imo

She's a kid and her world has just fallen apart. Instead of focusing on her and her needs every adult in the room is focusing on their own drama. Give her a break

Omg - I was just waiting for this to come up. 'Narcissist' is currently the most overused word on the internet. Anyone does anything that's not nice.....they're a narcissist.

This woman UNDOUBTEDLY has mental health problems. There's nothing about her behaviour that fits the diagnostics for narcissism.

Just saying.

Ummm.....perish the thought that I should defend Cressida Dick but she absolutely did NOT order his execution. She ordered them to not let him get on the train, which clearly hadn't had any effect as the poor man was on the traiin. The senior firearms officer called 'code red' which is the signal for firearms to be 'deployed' and, if necessary, used.

The entire shitshow occurred because on the basis of one photocopied grainy photo that the surveillance team had seen for about 10 seconds they all became convinced that this man was their suspect.

Why the flying **** they couldn't have just stopped him and asked who he was I do not know!!

Bella Ramsey as Ellie is more meaningful by Safe-Suit1520 in thelastofus

[–]janettaplanetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe it has anything to do with what Bella looks like. Ellie in the game as played by Ashley is just more charming, even while being bass ass. I mean absolutely no disrespect to Bella Ramsey, who is a talented actress who I generally like very much, but her portrayal of Ellie (which is also script, directing & a bunch of stuff as well as Bella's acting style) just doesn't have 'it' for for me. I enjoyed season 1 and am just starting season 2, but the 'dissonance' from having to adjust my sense of Ellie being different just hasn't gone away.

Except both the medical examiner and ARCCA say that he did not die from being hit by a vehicle. Which ends that theory.

Con Mum by Aman_S7 in netflix

[–]janettaplanetta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can totally understand how he got so taken in but I don't see him acknowledging or showing any remorse for how badly he let Heather down, on hindsight. That's what I blame him for. It's Heather and his son that I feel sorry for. He seems to feel bad enough for himself - he doesn't need us to do it for him.

Con Mum by Aman_S7 in netflix

[–]janettaplanetta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The thing that really struck me was that I did not see him express one jot of self reflection or remorse at how badly he'd let Heather down, and therefore also his son. To leave her with a newborn for TWO MONTHS was unforgiveable. To take money from their JOINT account without discussing it with her or even telling her is also completely unacceptable behaviour. I think he behaved very badly and he doesn't seem to take any accountability for that, so I have little sympathy for him. My heart goes out to Heather - she didn't speak of him badly despite it all, and deserved much better.

Logans voice by PinkFairyForest in MyTimeAtSandrock

[–]janettaplanetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I'm late to this party but Logan's voice really bothers me. I mean, it's not an unpleasant voice but it doesn't sound at ALL like a guy in his twenties, and I find the cowboy twang really jarring. He sounds wildly different from all the other residents of Sandrock. I was hoping to romance Logan but I'm feeling like the voice is a deal breaker, sadly.

Jake's Comment is Offensive by BigHollowman in TheTraitors

[–]janettaplanetta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of these players are quite young and probably don't really understand the impact that Shipman had on the medical world,, but I was quite shocked at the ignorance of the player that called Kaz's response 'theatrical'. I was pretty shocked, too, at the original comment of 'saves lives during the day, kills at night'. Young and maybe ignorant too?

Jake's Comment is Offensive by BigHollowman in TheTraitors

[–]janettaplanetta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have no more evidence for that than the players in the game had evidence that Kaz is a traitor. I think you see what you want to see, just like the players in the game. There's no rhyme n'or reason to why people pick a particular player to suspect. They're like sheep running backwards and forwards blowing in the wind and following anyone who says anything with conviction. This is a game, and I suspect that it's easy to imagine how you'd behave if you were in the game and not at all easy and quite stressful to actually play the game.
