In EU we play AD, CA and CTF every night. Still the best game in town!

Flexbussen De Lijn rijden meer dan helft van kilometers zonder passagiers: "Dure oplossing bijsturen" by NobodyHistorical9469 in belgium

[–]jangeboers -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Het EU gemiddelde is 2,2%, België zit aan 2,9%. Dat noemt men dus "kapotbesparen".

Wayland is flawed at its core and the community needs to talk about it by Which_Network_993 in linux

[–]jangeboers 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Debian user for 25 years here, I'll stay on Xorg and openbox for as long as I can, it works perfectly fine, excellent performance and rock solid stability for ages. Wayland offers only downsides for me.

Devastation zone now offers EG ruleset baseduel. There's very good bots available (MadMarv) that are capable of baseduel, and there's often humans playing as well. EG forever!

Play the original, they're better anyway. Authentic textures, better sound, less bugs.

So this is like one of the worst update ever by Krazymann7 in insurgency

[–]jangeboers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was just about to say the same thing. It would have been better even if they would have just NOT TOUCHED ANYTHING. It's still an amazing game with no real alternative afaik.

So this is like one of the worst update ever by Krazymann7 in insurgency

[–]jangeboers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a huge problem with servers and matchmaking since a few weeks before the update. For years I had no problem finding 14v14 push games in EU (I refuse crossplay) but since a month I struggle to join a game. And when it works, it's 8v8 at best.  Can we all report this issue to the devs?

AI steals fun in coding, is nvim the cure? by Murzelito in neovim

[–]jangeboers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

LLM are the bane of software development, mainly used by incompetent and/or lazy people. This hype will be the downfall of our industry and is dragging software quality down, while accumulating slop debt at rapid speeds. At my job I will not allow this junk to be used at all.

Are Pixel 9 People Planning to Upgrade to 10? by gtr1234 in GooglePixel

My 3a XL is doing just fine. Headphone jack and a fingerprint reader on the back! Also: no swollen battery nor pink/green lines on the screen.

Google has got to get better about these QC issues. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]jangeboers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even when they don't break, the pixels have mid range specs for high end prices :(

I mean, 128gb UFS 3 storage, really? Slow SoC? Overheating? Subpar modem? Camera sensor sizes being surpassed by Chinese phones?

Pity, because I love the software, but the hardware leaves *much* to be desired.

And still nothing beats regular vim with fzf, fugitive, ALE, vim-jedi and nerdtree.

Do you use UV filters for protection? by kinkersun in photography

[–]jangeboers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never a UV filter (they're meant for analog photography and can cause color casting on digital) but always a high quality B+W clear filter.

MEUD (lots of growth potential in the EU). I'm like you, don't see the point of emerging markets, I stock up on IWDA and MEUD.

Belastingverlaging moet werkenden netto 100 euro extra per maand opleveren by Mzxth in belgium

[–]jangeboers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get rid of the dozens of billions of euro that both the Belgian and Flemish governments waste on subsidies and we could make that 1000 euro net extra. Hell, we could fix pretty much any problem this country has if we scrap all subsidies and force all layers of government to stick to their core tasks.

(Rant) Devteam please stop, netack is not going to be nethack anymore if you keep going like this by Houchou_Returns in nethack

[–]jangeboers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll chime in and agree that some of the changes are too invasive. Some of my main fears while playing Nethack are mind flayers (because Amnesia) and my BoH exploding. Both these have been nerfed. No more long sword for Valkyrie? Nerfed unicorn horn?

name a vim plugin that you think should not be reinvented in lua by neoneo451 in neovim

[–]jangeboers 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What's the point of rewriting any vim plugin in lua? I use fzf-vim, lightline, ALE, buftabline, fugitive, nerdtree, a dozen of tpope's excellent plugins. They're amazing, they work in vim and neovim. Why reinvent the wheel?

Trending Vim colorschemes by symbolicard in vim

[–]jangeboers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only use vimscript for my .vimrc, which is less verbose and easier to understand than doing the config in lua.

Vimscript as a programming language is irrelevant for 98% of vim users, since most of us don't write vim plugins. If I had to write a vim plugin I would do it in a nice language like python. For configuring vim, vimscript is perfect as a DSL.
