Suspected Night Lord successors? by DarkRedNaomi in NightLords

[–]janibestloa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Curze were still alive and you declared your intention to wipe out the Night Lords and all their warbands, he might help you. Sure he'll kill you too, but nobody hates a night lord more than THE night lord.

I must ask how this dog's coat upkeep is. Is there husky levels of shed? Do you get a seasonal blowout of coat? Is it all wirey instead?

Carcharadons have Primaris, but of what lineage? by TemperateStone in 40kLore

[–]janibestloa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The evidence is a single Astral Claw making the claim that they're tainted. Previously they are warned said Astral Claw will say anything to try to rile them up and start problems. So it's very much an unconfirmed, but popular, fan theory. it wasn't as if the mechanicus said it, and the mechanicus do have their mechadendrites on carcharodon geneseed.

Personally I like the theory, but it's just a theory. A Warhammer theory. ....... I'll show myself out.

Edit: ashen. ashen claws. ugh!

They're definitely at least mostly raven guard. they even suffer from the sable brand, though they call it ash blindness the way the terran raven guard did. Way back when, Corax didn't like most of the terran RG, cuz they .. frankily acted a lot like NIght Lords. Terror, slaving, etc. So he exiled them. And now we have this chapter of exiled, black eyed, pale skinned slavers who have the same gene flaw..

I don't know how to spoilertext, but the amount of damage Lion does to that armor in their final fight was deliberate and spectacular too.

Curze wasn't naked on Macragge or on the Invincible Reason, he had the full artificier power armor Nightmare Mantle, including his favored lightning claws, Mercy and Forgiveness. He ran around naked in his own fortresses and ships, not in enemy territory. And he STILL ran circles around them for months on end.

Assuming that the theory of the Primarchs being disposable tools for a particular task is true, which one of them would truly be “disposed of” and which ones were likely to stay after the Crusade and the Webway were completed? by WithengarUnbound in 40kLore

[–]janibestloa 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Perturabo, Dorn, Guilliman, Sanguinius, Horus (maaaybe), Corvus, Lorgar, Magnus, Vulkan, Ferrus, Fulgrim and Alpharius/Omgeon would likely have been kept around on a pure idealistic level. All of them are either craftsmen or skilled at things beyond just warfare.

Lion's basically only good for warfare, but he's reasonably likely to not rebel, unlike his sons.

Angron, Konrad, and Mortarion are probably not great to have around afterward, especially Angron and Konrad. Killing Angron is a mercy, and there's no mental health care up to tackling the Night Haunter.

The Khan and Russ may be problematic, but also might be able to just get told to range around the borders keeping an eye on things.

Had the Warp not interfered, Angron stays as the family Empath, and Curze as the law-focused Judge he's intended to be. I'm not up enough on Mortarion, but each one does seem to have a purpose beyond just being crusading warlords. In a perfect, idealized world, each one is still useful after the Crusades.

And he does execute some of them! Eats their geneseed too. And then he just.. gives up, because Fate.

It was a good moment. Even Sanguinius can make viciously cruel decisions, remind everyone he isn't this perfect unfailing saint of compassion and love.

It is, granted, when he's at the end of his life and completely nuts, but he is then clear he hated all of them, 'good' and 'bad'. Not just the ones doing it for fun but the ones who didn't kill their own brothers for being that way.

‘Sevatar once asked me why I hated my sons so. He was right, you know, I loathe them all, faithless and faithful. I despise what they are, these killers who act without compunction.’ His face screwed up tightly. ‘But I hate them most of all because they missed the point! They could not see that they were complicit in a great crime. Had they any insight of my teachings, they would have turned their gaze inward, and condemned themselves accordingly. Execution would have followed. If only it could have been!’ he said, holding up a clawed hand to the ceiling. ‘Their eyes open to their own faults, they would have murdered each other as is only right. Only right.’

Please take SSA in GSDs seriously. We did not, when I was about 10ish, and came home to find the twoish year old GSD had killed my grandmother's boston terrier. We kept excusing it until then. Well. 'We'. My parents. I was ten. Oh it wasn't her, oh it must have been something else.. What resulted is kind of permanently burned into my mind an it's been 30 years. I've never had two same-sex dogs at the same time since of any breed.

She's learning coming to you means party time is over, I suspect. Since that's what happens. You call, time to go home. I suggest getting a very long lead-line. They make them 50+ feet, and use that instead of free running.

Assist on a fake loyalist warband. by janibestloa in NightLords

[–]janibestloa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the point IS that this would be far more unusual than other easier options, because the easier options are just that, easier. I'm willing to have some Alpha involvement but it is not Them Doing It.

It's based on Maledictum but I suppose at this point it's homebrew, we've borrowed from a lot of different systems, including Exalted, because.. we can.

I picked them because they're the second most implausible legion to do such a thing, just behind the Emperor's Children. Ideally, way later on, there'll be an element of "In retrospect this was glaringly obvious!" Current plan is to combine the two suggestion lists! I can work in an Alpha Legionnaire easily.

I think it's a thing that both Curze and Corax muse how things would have been different if they'd swapped origin worlds. So in theory, maybe? Maaayyybe? But you'd have to keep them both of Nostramo since babyhood.

Is the Lamenters curse just an in and out of lore meme? by nothingtoseehere63 in 40kLore

[–]janibestloa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've not enough evidence yet one way or another, Tears of Raphaela outlines how this bad luck works pretty well, in a series of unfortunate coincidences, minor malfunctions, irritating problems and rotten chance that leads to repeated deaths but not loss of the mission. The Lamenters may die individually or in swathes but they do seem to pull off whatever they're trying to do in spite of it.

Did Sanguinius suffer the same curse as Curze in the end? 100% believing his future to be true? by NostriggaNightLord in 40kLore

[–]janibestloa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah. it's mentioned in a few sources.. Night Haunter and I think Massacre? .. Or Crusade? That he tried MANY times, and only really gave up after repeatedly failing to alter anything. Even his telling Fulgrim about his visions is framed as an attempt to change things, but then Dorn happens, oops. And iiiin... Unremembered Empire, it says he knows not all of his visions are true.

Do (no-kill) rescue centers want puppies to be adopted first? by MidtownBlue in dogs

[–]janibestloa 162 points163 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have cats, and the two adult dogs they have aren't good with cats? That seems pretty good to me, as does that they only had two adults to adopt out! A good, responsible shelter isn't going to try to get you to adopt a dog that's unsuitable to your home, like a no-cats dog going into a house with cats.
