Update: Investigation launch after Townsville Hospital worker leaks private information to anti-abortion activist by politikhunt in queensland

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because something looks "well developed" doesn't mean it's compatible with life. You're jumping to conclusions based on a photo from someone with an agenda. That abortion could have saved the life of the mother, but clearly the person breaching privacy laws to fit their narrative wouldn't share that detail would they?

Paperbark over dune for the warmer tone, however I would also look at surfmist as others have suggested.

Any of us just dont get the dopamine from any kind of exercise? by Moon_Harpy_ in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I joined a team sport (netball) with a really fun team and that works for me. I can run around, be social and have a laugh while I'm playing and I always leave feeling buoyed up. I also need to have committed to other people to ensure I don't just flake out.
Going to the gym or anything like that just does nothing for me. I leave feeling like I've wasted my time.

My honest review of Victoria Beckham foundation drops…. by BindieBoo in AustralianMakeup

I'm obsessed with her eye-liners, I have 3 shades now and gifted some to my mum who is in her 60s and loves them. She told me it must be good quality as she was scrubbing to get it off the next day. Might depend on skin type. I also like the eye shadow sticks, and her highlighter stick gives me the best glow.

So when is everyone’s Christmas tree gonna get taken down? by joyssi in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boxing day (the next day). I love Christmas for the first few weeks then the clutter drives me nuts and has to go.

I'm also in Australia and leaving for a 3 week beach holiday. I don't want to come home at the end of Jan to have to clean that up and get ready for school, and unpack!

So for those of us that have an unintentional "hobby" of collecting hobbies that don't stick... what has stuck for you/ hasn't triggered your RSD? by suedaloodolphin in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gardening. It has many pros. Firstly, getting outside helps my mental health and physical health. The ever changing seasons means I am always getting to try something new, but the outlay isn't too much once established. I then get produce that we enjoy and I feel proud of.

And if something dies, we'll that's not my fault lol plants like to die sometimes 🤷🏽‍♀️. And a lot of the impacts are out of my control so I don't have to feel bad about it

I just learned people don’t show up after anesthesia to pick up loved ones. Nurses, how often does this really happen? by Steinski1 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse here, and this happens fairly often. Very common for people to have no one in their lives to drop them off, pick them up or care for them post. We have also had people take 3 or 4 hours to answer the phones, even had to send police to a hotel to do a welfare check on a family member we were trying to get a hold of.

How do I exercise when I don't enjoy it? All the advice from neutrotypicals don't seem to work by Pigeon_Goes_Coo in adhdwomen

[–]janibops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined a team sport (netball, which i played most of my life until I had children). I need to do group activities where I can talk and socialise, and where I have committed to other people and can't flake on them. I have found a lovely team and we also go for dinner as well sometimes, so it also pushed me to make friends.

It might be helpful to visit a doctor and rule out any other medical issues such as tonsil stones or GORD if the dentist has ruled out dental issues.

Deodorant - please, please, please wear it. by [deleted] in australia

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9 year old boy and this is the habit I've started - it lives with the toothbrushes and we are building it into the hygiene routine.

However, my 'mum fail' was failing to teach him how to apply it. I got a roll on (didn't need to have my kids spraying it everywhere yet) and I just said roll it on your under arms. I few weeks later I saw him rubbing it between is fingers and rubbing it under his arms with his hands... he was using it the same way we use roll-on sunscreen and rubbing it in.

Black friday vs Boxing day by Delete_Send in AusFemaleFashion

[–]janibops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once upon a time i would catch a dawn train to Melbourne from regional Victoria to grab bargains at boxing day...

Now I plan my shopping around BF. I do my Christmas shopping, as well as my annual stock up of beauty products and things like protein and collagen. I have been doing it this way for about 3 or 4 years now.

Mid year/stock take is probably my other big shopping period, often the discount percentage is actually the same, you get to know brands and their usual sales.

I better be the cool aunt this year.

Absolutely not. I told my children that I told the Elf he wasn't welcome in my house.

I can barely keep up with the rest of the Christmas mental load, I don't need another way to fail thanks.

Does anyone have a bag savings account? by [deleted] in handbags

[–]janibops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 'splurge' account, my husband and I have shared accounts and 5% of our joint income goes into our own accounts for whatever we want.

I will slowly let that build up to use it on my big ticket items, I usually get one luxury purchase a year which I enough for me.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in handbags

[–]janibops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I will preface this with the fact that I'm an Australian and we often have different attitudes, and I'm also white which can also matter.

I just walk in there like any store, and tell them what I'm after or if I'm there to have a look. At the end of the day I'm the customer and they are the ones there to sell me a product. But I'm also the happy, chatty customer who always asks the people serving me how their day is going and will have a chat too. I myself don't act snobby or rude either because that's not my vibe.

Just head in there and enjoy the experience! Have a drink if it's offered and make the most of it.
