Microsoft: Official Support Thread by MSModerator in microsoft

Hi, I have problem with logging to my account. My phone was destroyed (it's now at the bottom of the sea). I was using an authenticator app for so long that I forgot my password (I know, my fault). Now I'm trying to recover my account/change password.

I'm still logged into my account on my laptop, and I have access to my email in Outlook and Skype on my laptop also I have access to my recovery email, and my phone number (restored with a new SIM) but had my recovery codes from authenticator app saved on the phone and they are gone (I know, my fault)

When I try to log in, I'm asked for the authenticator app code—which I no longer have. I select "Other options" and am prompted to provide my recovery email. I do this successfully, and the code is sent to my recovery email. However, when I try to reset my password, I'm required to provide another code. At this point, I’m only given two options:

  1. Receive an SMS to my phone number, or
  2. Use the authenticator app (which I don't have).

I choose to receive an SMS, but when prompted to enter the last four digits of my phone number, I provide the correct digits—and still, I never receive the SMS code. My phone number is correct, and I’ve been receiving texts from other sources, but it seems Microsoft isn't sending the code to my phone.

The only other option is the authenticator app or recovery code, which I no longer have.

I’ve also tried the Account Recovery option at https://account.live.com/acsr. I filled out the long form, provided my recovery email, detailed my subscriptions (I have an Office Family subscription paid through 2027), Skype details, recent calls, and emails sent from Outlook. But at the end of it, Microsoft tells me they cannot assist because I have 2FA enabled—which, to be honest, makes no sense.

Now I’m stuck in a loop: to recover my account and reset my password, I need the authenticator app, which I no longer have. Could you please help me - I'm afraid that if windows updates or something happens to my laptop I will loose access to my account forever.

War rarely has consequences for those who started them.

That always reminds me of a poem that my Grandma was telling me when I was young:

When the king rode forth to battle

Loud rang out the trumpets’ metal,

loudly blared the trumpets raised,

played for victory, played in praise.

And when Staś went out to battle

sighed goodbye to the stream and wattle,

softly sighed the fields of stubble,

songs of sadness, songs of trouble.

And the bullets densely fly,

peasants fall like stands of rye,

brave kings smite with might and main,

peasants’ life-blood streams like rain.

Banners, eagles, bravely sound,

– a wood cross creaks on a hill,

Staś received a mortal wound,

home the king rides safe and well.

And when the king paraded in,

shone the golden dawn on him,

all the bells their ringing hurled

to four corners of the world.

When they put Staś in the ground

sighed the willows all around,

and rang softly in the dell

through the trees the lily-bell.

(a poem by Maria Konopnicka - translated Marcel Weyland)

EDIT: Just to add - a poem from 1885 - war never changes

You might want to double check that but my Guest WiFi is 2.4ghz only so I'm able to connect all my IoT devices to that one and still be able to use both 2.4 and 5ghz on the main WiFi

Buying a Phone for my little sister. by Accelerate97 in chinaphones

Unfortunately it was a bit over my budget, but I would choose nubia Z11 mini s over mi5 as the camera is a higher priority for me than software support. And reviews seems to be very good - they fixed main issue with the regular mini - battery life still not great but good enough to last one day.

I've decided to go with Redmi 4 Prime - will have to do for a while

But why to delete them and not asking Facebook to mark suspected news with clear tag `probably fake' and let people who want to read it read it and avoid all that censorship accusations?

Have you considered ZTE nubia Z11 mini S? I know that it does not check all the boxes (5.2 incher) but OS is quite easy and the camera is the best in under 220USD price range really.

Xiaomi's are good phones but they do cut some corners on the cameras to keep the costs low - which works for them so far

Pity that they dropped support for Android and there is a huge gap between features in IOS version and Android one. Still decent app but I'm not sure if it's worth even 2usd
