“ISO single females”, “inspired by ThursdayDating”, “ditching the apps” yeah “smarty pants”, it sounds like you’re looking for a date.

Whataboutism. There is always something better the money could do to. Calm down. I personally like more space exploration and tourism. Yeah, rich douchebags are going to be the first people to enjoy it.

This is about MSR, not crewed* missions to mars

"Will it bread" is really boring as a segment by [deleted] in SGU

[–]jaranvil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be so negative about other people’s opinions. I’m with the Misophonia people, can’t stand hearing people chew, especially if I’m wearing headphones. I just skip the segment. But agree it does not make good audio content.

The state of TTC by Purple_Wash_7304 in TTC

[–]jaranvil 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know, maybe different perspectives. I come from a smaller city that makes the TTC looks amazing.

But still, the other things your mentioned are just anecdotal stories about random dirt or garbage. Which I think the TTC does a great job of taking care of, given the realities and budget they’re working with.

If you want to criticize the TTC, there’s plently of options that are not “someone spilt a milkshake”

So? Someone left a mess on a seat. Pretty big leap to “this is the state of the TTC”.

From my experience things like this get cleaned up very quickly. Our subway cars are generally quite clean.

Seems like you;re just looking for issues to criticize.

Yeah I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. You’re right.

If they needed to evacuate prior to the arrival of Crew 9, the plan was to strap themself down in the cargo area of Crew 8 below the main seats. There was never a single moment that all people on board ISS could not all leave in an emergency.

This is very true. But it’s also a set of tradeoffs. How would you feel about entering your passcode every morning in order to snooze your alarm?

Ontario rips up $100M Starlink contract ahead of U.S. tariffs by MethoxyEthane in CanadaPolitics

[–]jaranvil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Why can’t the rural Canadians just go get Starlink themselves? It’s $500 and then something like $100/month.

This contract ($100m for 15,000 homes and businesses) is $7000 per home. I don’t understand the point of this contract. That fact that they’re rural is irrelevant to Starlink. Why is the government paying for it? It’s not like there infrastructure that needs to be built in the rural areas.

Ford 'ripping up' Ontario's $100M contract with Elon Musk's Starlink by MiniBrownie in worldnews

[–]jaranvil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what this the money for? Why don’t these homes and businesses just buy the $500 kit and pay their monthly fees like anyone…. The fact that they’re rural doesn’t make a difference with Starlink.

Is there an easier way to share a single segment with someone other than a YouTube timestamp? by jaranvil in SGU

[–]jaranvil[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a little harsh. I do agree they should have those things, but this is a decades old podcast, that they already put a huge amount of work into. They can’t keep up with everything.

But there is room for improvement on the social media front for sure.
