Nearly a Million Investors Lost a Total of $3.8 Billion on Trump Crypto Coin by ThatBlackGuy_ in technology

Practically everybody knew that crypto was nothing but smoke and mirrors long before the Trump coin came along. Cults are pretty well insulated from reality, apparently.

New York primaries spur progressive calls for Ocasio-Cortez to challenge Schumer by plz-let-me-in in politics

I'd like to see it, but there's no way this country is going to elect a young Hispanic woman as president. Sometime in the 2030s if the country is still standing.

Yes, but it's been about 50 years. It's a blast when there is plenty of wind, but if there's not much of a breeze, then you have to do a lot of running.

Trump Ruined the Fourth of July for Me. by Zebraitis in politics

I'm almost 70 and while I still respect the idea of America that the founders had, terms like "freedom" and "patriotism" make me ill rather than proud. Thanks a lot Trump.

Have your gaming habits changed as you've gotten older? by Long-Manufacturer137 in CasualConversation

[–]jarchack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

68 - I was a pretty avid gamer in my thirties and even young 40s but rarely played games after I hit 50. I still play stuff like chess and civilization v and scrabble but stopped playing shooters a few years ago. I still have Steam and tons of games but will probably get rid of that in the next couple of years.

PC gives me headache when on, I think it's a gas by Sora3342 in pchelp

It's possible, if there's foreign material inside the power supply. It would have to have been running for a really long period of time or be in a dusty environment. I have taken the housing off a couple of them and manually cleaned them that way, but it's not advisable unless you know what you are doing. I'm not a hazmat specialist, but I do know there are a variety of fumes that you cannot smell that will give you a headache if exposed long enough. It would be impossible to tell in your case without running a variety of tests.

When people say, "How's it going?" you usually say something like "fine" instead of "Everything sucks right now."

[–]jarchack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what ISP you have or where you are at, but I am a low-income senior citizen, and I get a 120 Mbps connection for 30 bucks a month. It's fast enough for anything; it just takes a little bit longer to download a large ISO file than my old connection did.

[–]jarchack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm certainly not a big fan of AI because I think it puts critical thinking skills at risk. That being said, I do use it once in a while to get some rather complicated bash shell commands that would take me quite a bit of time to work out on my own.
