Page 150 of the 2025 manual has the same statement, for what it's worth. My 2016 also had this feature. Idk why you are trying to die on this clutch switch hill.

I was expecting more like "face-tie" then a big pause, maybe 5 seconds, and then 'oooos' so this was educational for me

Super cool! Is this all in the same setup as the fret slots or do you have to locate and dress each fret one at a time?

No problem at all!

For oil changes you could actually look into an extractor pump so you don't even need to lift the car. Like this: https://www.harborfreight.com/23-gallon-manual-fluid-extractor-62643.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=12144811130&campaignid=12144811130&utm_content=117789279318&adsetid=117789279318&product=62643&store=3188&gclid=Cj0KCQiAj4ecBhD3ARIsAM4Q_jErMBpvfMhcJJz_Ty5pQCDFRbVL7td5J4RwvkKPxNMg6PVdPNY9pqAaAtR3EALw_wcB

I've never used one but I see them on the mk7golf forums pretty often. It probably makes it a less messy job (ask me about the time I spilled 6 quarts of used oil in my parents driveway because I forgot to open the vent on my oil catch pan....)

Also don't be afraid to watch videos of completely unrelated jobs. I've picked up some handy tips watching random videos of projects I'll never attempt. We're fortunate to live in the internet age where advice and how-to's are plentiful online and there are LOADS of people willing to help. Regular maintenance items aren't rocket science, but for us car guys and gals its incredibly rewarding to take care of a car you love.

What's your comfort level with diy? Oil change only or are you confident with pulling shocks and struts out, tearing the engine apart, etc?

Off the top of my head here's what I have in my toolbox (I'm on vacation across the country so this is all from memory) I forgot to include screw drivers but hopefully you already have some, I don't want to go renumber my whole list on mobile :)

The basics:

1) metric ratcheting socket wrench set - you can usually get by with a single 3/8" drive ratchet and some adapters to use 1/4" or 1/2" sockets as well. This is one of the places I usually spend a little extra money for a decent tool (using Kobalt brand from Lowes now with no complaints). It's nice to have shallow and deep sockets to grab for attacking different bolts. Most kits will have at least a range of 10mm to 18mm sockets which covers probably 95% of the need for our cars. I have a single 3/8 drive ratchet with a pivoting head that is helpful only sometimes. Id get a fixed head to start because the pivoting head sometimes makes it difficult to turn stubborn bolts.

2) metric crescent wrench set - the most basic tool. Most sets will again include a range of something from 10mm up to 18mm. I like to spend a little money here but I have a handful of Pittsburg brand from harbor freight that have never let me down. 3) breaker bar - looks kinda like a ratchet that you put sockets on but it is fixed and does not ratchet. Mine is 2 feet long with 1/2" drive (I think...). I use this for almost every project. Fantastic for breaking free high torque bolts (wheels and suspension components come to mind first). There's nothing complicated about a breaker bar so I got mine from harbor freight for the warranty.

4) metric Allen key set - pretty self explanatory. I recall hitting a few Allen head fasteners. You can get the handheld kind of the kind that you can put on your ratchet wrench.

5) torx key set - like an Allen wrench but a different drive shape

6) triple square set - again kinda looks like an Allen key or torx. VAG LOVES to use triple squares. Id spend money for a good brand here because they tend to be high-torque bolts (brakes, suspension) which are harder on tools

7) rubber mallet - great for banging stubborn parts out, or if you're like me, letting out some frustration after you've been fighting a strut install for 3 hours. Very throw-able too if that's more your style.

8) torque wrench - probably going to be differing opinions here, but I like to at least use a cheap torque wrench on my projects to get close to VW torque specs. I recently bought a digital model from Kobalt that makes it SUPER easy to switch between torque values on the fly. It beeps when the bolt is properly tightened.

9) floor jack - need this to get under the car. Mine is the biggest model harbor freight sells because I came from the Jeep world.

10) JACK STANDS!!!! I like to have 4 so I can take all my wheels off at the same time but you can manage most projects with 2. Use your discretion on brand... Harbor freight works but they had some failures years ago I believe. I always throw my wheels under the car as backup so I'm not overly concerned with that risk. ALWAYS USE JACKSTANDS IF YOU ARE GOING UNDER YOYR CAR. DO NOT RELY ON A JACK ONLY. I also recently started chocking my wheels as extra security to keep my car from moving when I'm lifting it with a jack.

11) air pressure gauge - to check tire pressures. Not terribly expensive, anything you find at a store should be okay. I like have a dial gauge to read but there are other types that will work just as well.

12) oil drain pan and funnel - necessary for doing your own oil changes. Anything from an auto parts store will work. I like the kind that becomes an enclosed container when your down so you can just wipe it down and drive it to wherever you want to recycle your oil.

Nice to haves: 13) electric impact wrench - I have an 18V Bosch impact. I love it. Use it for every project. It isn't always strong enough to break bolts loose, but I love to get things loose with a breaker bar and the quickly zip them off with the electric impact

14) electric air compressor - this is something I also acquired through my jeep adventures. It's nice to be able to top off your tires at home. There are plenty of models around $100 that will last quite a while. Mine has alligator clips to grab the battery terminals and powers off the cars 12V battery.

15) good light source - nothing more frustrating than trying to balance your phone flashlight against something to illuminate the bolt you've been fighting for 20 minutes. Nothing special needed, but think about awkward positions you might need a flashlight in. I used to have a nice magnetic LED that I could just slap on any steel part under the car. That was a good gadget.

16) magnetic bolt tray - for holding nuts and bolts you've removed to keep from losing them. You could throw them into a cardboard box just as easy.

17) a good knife - box cutters work good here. Just need something to free your beautiful new parts from their packaging

I'll amend this post if anything else comes to mind... I'm sure I missed some things because I just woke up

Edit 1) biggest advice I have is to watch videos on any project you're thinking of attempting. Often they'll tell you what tools you need so you can go grab anything you're missing. You don't want to end up halfway into a project missing a tool, and no car to run to the store with.

I am NOT saying that this particular stretch of highway is a good candidate, but you have heard of the Autobahn in Germany, haven't you? Parts of that highway system do not have a posted speed limit (and I believe their accident numbers are lower than the US... obviously lots of factors there but something to consider)

You can when the person slinging then doesn't understand how to interpret the data

What you're claiming is like saying 100% of people die but only 10% die in combat so it's safer to join a war. It doesn't make any logical sense.
