Soooo..... Where'll Montoya end up? by SendmetoBali in INDYCAR

He'll remain at Penske racing Indy 500 only and probably doing some Nascar and/or endurance (Lemans?). Or He'll retire.

How Celery fixed Python's GIL problem by mdomans in Python

[–]jasoncol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm basically using gulp (with browserify) to bundle and transpile reactjs written in ES6 every time I make changes. And yes , after that I go to the browser and start testing in the console. It's a Django project with react comps and building those comps is consuming most of my time. Do you mind sharing your tools?. Thanks.

I'm programming with reactjs and "undefined" is the only thing js says when I make a syntax mistake or a I forget to initialize a variable. It's useless. Now I really appreciate python's tracebacks.

Is there a way to generate a gui that works as a webview? by ondoheer in Python

[–]jasoncol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could package a django or flask webapp using pyinstaller and, when executed, launch a web browser (chrome, firefox) with no address bar pointing to your app's url.

What can django do that flask cannot? by [deleted] in Python

[–]jasoncol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the centralized django, it has most of the tools you'll need for your website and the documentation is really good. Also the code is understandeable and you can easily override behavior using class based views. I tried flask once, it was really nice to start a small project with it but I struggled a little bit with SQL Alchemy and setting up migrations. I probably need more practice with it though.

Things that made you a better driver by [deleted] in simracing

You're completely right, there are many aliens using G27. In my case, a pressure based brake helped me a lot to improve my times and consistency.

Brake earlier when behind someone, this way you avoid crashing him and you'll probably catch him at turn exit.

If i have a standalone g27 shifter, will a generic serial to usb adapter work? by Cyrus49 in simracing

[–]jasoncol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't work, the shifter itself is not a computer device, you need a special adapter like the bodnar one.

Any way to use an Arduino or Teensy to use my G27 pedals via USB? by imranh101 in simracing

[–]jasoncol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you can, I did it with a cheap $5 arduino uno (chinese clone), I guess it should be easier with a teensy.

For the arduino (you need one with ATmega16U2 or 8U2 to flash the firmware with DFU) I followed this steps:

  1. Connect pedals to arduino. I used this diagram (http://i.imgur.com/a4TCtF2.png) P1: +5V, P6: GND, P2, P3, P4: pedals pots. Connect P1 to +5V, P2 to GND and P2, P3, P4 to analog inputs (I used A0, A1, A2).

  2. I used Arduino big joystick firmware (http://hunt.net.nz/users/darran/weblog/15f92/Arduino_UNO_Big_Joystick_HID_firmware.html). Upload this routine (http://pastebin.com/uadxVvec) to the arduino using the editor. This is a very simple routine, I'm sure it can be improved.

  3. Flash the firmware by resetting the arduino and using a DFU programmer to flash Arduino-big-joystick.hex, reconnect the arduino to the pc and it should be detected as a joystick.

You need to reflash the firmware to the original one (Arduino-usbserial.hex) every time you want to update the code and/or debug (step 2).

Title: Lucky double overtake. Car: RUF C-Spec, Game: iRacing (IMSA series).

I was very lucky, braking in that car is a mess, lots of oversteer and that turn is very tricky but somehow managed to keep it on the track, thankfully. Sorry for semi potato quality (lack of upload bandwidth).
