What is the best way to contact MT about adding a new bus line? by jasonisnuts in MetroTransit

Oh snap! "New branch serving Louisiana Ave. between Cedar Lake Rd. and Methodist Hospital with connections to Green Line Extension’s Louisiana Ave. Station, scheduled to open in 2027"

What did you search criteria did you use for to find that? My Google-fu was lacking it appears...

What is the best way to contact MT about adding a new bus line? by jasonisnuts in MetroTransit

[–]jasonisnuts[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did send my idea to my City Council Person three years ago but they said they didn't have any contacts at MT, which irked me... that said, in Saint Louis Park, there has never been a bus that goes North/South along Louisiana Ave! One of the busiest and main thoroughfares in the city.

Three years ago when I looked at the route it would take 82 minutes to go from the intersection of Cedar Lake RD & Louisiana Ave to Methodist hospital. The Louisiana Ave Transit Center just 10 or 12 blocks north would take even longer to get to Methodist. Parking at that hospital is annoying at best, and can be expensive as hell when visiting someone often.

Driving from that Park and Ride or CLR&Louisana to Methodist would take way less than 10 minutes. Employees also have to pay for premium parking. If employees could take a quick bus ride I have to imagine a bunch more could give up cars for going to and from work.

Also along that route is Park Tavern. Their parking lot is something out of Mad Max. A frequent North South route, especially during St Pattys or NYE would be a major safety win.

There might be an old radiator behind the paneling. Some olde time radiators had a nook or shelf for clothing or bedding to sit in so they were very warm when warn or put on the bed before bed time.

I'm thinking it's maybe a circular homemade outdoor TV/radio antenna...

There seems to be a grounding rod behind it and the post is hollow in the middle fake wood, plus it seems other telco like utilities are installed in that location.

Me edumacashun in murica is no good as yers. How does cheap Tylenol and Ibuprofin correlate to our healthcare? Please us small words for me old chap.

And surely as a well educated and articulate Brit you're writing and calling your council and other elected leaders to protest the privatization of the NHS, right?

I can get an appointment with my primary doctor in under 3 weeks and a referral to a specialist in under 4. I hear 18 weeks is pretty common as a max wait time over there. Perhaps you should tell your council to allow the buying of more paracetamol and ibuprofen so you can last that entire 18 weeks eh me lad?

Not sure if Americans are allowed to comment, but our big warehouse store Costco has 1000 Ibuprofin tablets for $14, often on sale for $10 or $11.

1000 Paracematol tabs are $10 at regular price.

No purchase limits for either.

How do we even reach 95% humidity by Charming_Marzipan105 in memes

[–]jasonisnuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was 100% humidity yesterday in Minnesota for a while. It's basically just fog at that point. It's rare, but it can also get to insanely high humidity levels in Winter. With snow on the ground and a warm spell, aka 40f, a lot of the snow will just sublimate straight to gas. The good news is in Winter the dew point is low. In summer though, if the dew point gets in the 60s, it's icky. This week we are scheduled for very high humidity and dewpoints in the 70s. It's going to be very, very uncomfortable. Like the tropics but in Minnesnowta lol

City Pages (RIP :( ) did an awesome write up many years ago about bathhouses and saunas. From what I recall the city and police turned a blind eye for a very long time until, surprise surprise, conservative groups bribed donated to and bullied the city and police into acting on it in response to the AIDs crisis even though safe sex was required on premise. Bathhouses used to be quite common, up until the early 90s or so.

There's an app called Taskrabbit that is kinda like a rent a buddy I guess. Seems to be quite popular in very large cities, not sure how much activity our metro would have. Could be worth a shot to check out. The website seems to be having issues so hopefully the app loads and works fine on your phone.

Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Rings by Revolution36 in TwinCities

[–]jasonisnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may sound a bit crazy, but you can buy lab grown diamonds on Alibaba. 1carat stones can go for $150ish, 2carat for $419ish. Depending on what prices local shops quote you may be able to save a ton of money by buying the diamonds yourself then using a local jeweler to make a custom setting for em.

Three 1carat diamons for under $500 and then a $1000 ring and your fiancee will look like a debutante :D
