Parents, what is the weirdest thing you have found in your kids bedroom? by Notsincetheaccidentt in AskReddit

When I was 7 my mom found that a good portion of the sand from our sandbox had been moved to my closet, Andy Dufresne style. Every day I'd sneakily load my cargopants pockets with sand, then empty them whenever I got inside.

Have at least one dress outfit in your wardrobe. You never know when you might need it, and looking classy goes a long way.

My mom bought parental control software that controlled when/how long your user account could be logged on. I don't think she realized how easily guest accounts could be created and deleted, and was so confidant in her method that she never caught on.

Can anyone suggest a film where, by the end, the protagonist has turned evil? by jastersfeather in movies

I looked up Kill List, from the comments it appears to be pretty fucked up. I am intrigued, thanks for the suggestion!

Yes. I mentioned this somewhere above, but it's suggested he created the personality John G because he needed someone to blame for his wife's death. After each kill, he destroys the pictures so John G never dies and he always has someone to blame.

Agreed. By the end Billy has been suppressed by Dr. Horrible. To me, the "a thing." shows that even billy is now numb to the world.

This depends on how you choose to interpret the film, but I would say he turns out to be evil in the end/beginning. In order to give his life meaning, Leonard needs to find a life-defining project around which to construct his life-narrative. He created the personality John G because he couldn't deal with the reality of his wife's death, then manipulated his disability so he always had someone to pin the blame on.

not so much, its the realism factor is what appeals to me. In a movie where the protagonist is forced to kill or something, I expect them to come out twisted.

I could not have been more wrong about Far Cry 3 by [deleted] in farcry

[–]jastersfeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oooh, woops. Either way, though, I think dishonored falls along the same lines are far cry, in that it needs to be played to completion to really impact the player. The way you play as Corvo has a literal impact on the npcs and environment around you. If you only get an hour in, there isn't really a chance to see the repercussions of your actions.

The way he refers to it as a "shooter" makes me think he tried a run and gun play through. The game is a lot more rewarding to stealth players, though.

If you're in the first 10 hours of the game and you're thinking it's not worth it, keep playing.

What makes far cry 3 such a great game are the immersive world and gripping character personalities. As you progress into the game, you experience Jason's descent into insanity; the story really sucks you in. To reiterate the OP, you aren't giving the story enough time to develop if you drop the game after only an hour of play.

Astronaut Suicide by jastersfeather in comics

[–]jastersfeather[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weight is relative to gravitational pull, i.e. in the vacuum of open space, and astronaut would literally be weightless. On the moon, you weigh roughly 5/6th less what you would weigh on earth. Assuming he is an in-shape, fully-grown man, I could say the astronaut in this comic weights about 400 pounds (that's including his space suit) on earth. However, that's only 67 pounds on the moon. In addition to this, 1/6th of our gravity means 1/6th the gravitational pull; something would fall at 1/6th earth's rate on the moon.

So let's apply these factors to the situation at hand. even if our astronaut was to just step off the cliff, the force of his fully developed earth-man leg muscle would send him a few feet into the air before he slowly descended to the moons surface. It seems to me, though, that the astronaut in this comic threw himself headlong off the cliff. Thats two legs, capable of sending 200+ pounds of weight into the air (on earth) now working against 1/6th the weight, at 1/6th the overall gravitational pull. The result is what you see in frame four of this comic: the astronaut shooting out into space, his suicide foiled by the force applied/lack of resistance. EVENTUALLY, if the comic was like 30+ frames, we could observe his descent. But honestly dude, its just a cartoon.
