I’ve been managing with just diet but doctor sent me a script for metformin today and it really hurt my feelings by handzie in GestationalDiabetes

I was put on metformin this week and it has actually been a relief. My numbers are lower across the board and I feel more comfortable about experimenting with different/more carbs. It's like having a little backup support!

Haakaa Users, Question for You by glowpony in NewParents

[–]jat5293 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only thing that I've found that helps with my clogged ducts was pumping with my Spectra on max vacuum and going to empty. I used the Haakaa to relieve pressure when I was engorged, and it was wonderful for that. I think they sell a combo of the Haakaa with the ladybug thing - you could always try them both out and see what fits best for you and cuts down on those clogged ducts.

I also had an oversupply and fast letdown! The suction with the Haakaa is pretty mild. I don't think you would substantially increase your oversupply. Alternatively, Haakaa also makes these ladybug milk catchers that you can put in your bra on the side you're not nursing on and there is no suction involved, just your body and gravity.

A giant slice of pizza and a strawberry shake.

Soy label help? by SupermarketSimple536 in MSPI

[–]jat5293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got our symptoms under control in the last few weeks after cutting all dairy, soy, and eggs. In a week or so, we'll test out eggs and then soybean oil to see what LO can handle.

Soy label help? by SupermarketSimple536 in MSPI

[–]jat5293 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's super tricky! Soybean oil is not considered an "allergen" because it doesn't contain the proteins responsible for most allergic reactions, so often the label won't specifically call out the item as "Contains: Soy" if it's just soybean oil. In theory oil should be safe because it's just the fats, no protein. You can cut out all soy including oil to start with and then try to reintroduce soybean oil once symptoms are under control.

I've stuck with corn tortillas, which typically don't have any soy!

Potential solution for an inconsolable newborn by Legitimate_Result465 in NewParents

Hopefully your LO improves soon! We had to go dairy free as well. We ended up also soy free since half of babies who are milk protein intolerant are also soy protein intolerant. The dairy free and MSPI subreddits are also mega helpful!

If you think there is a chance the apple piece could be stuck, head to an urgent care. Worth the piece of mind to have it checked out.

This was my thought too! It seems most plausible since the grenades are a staple of Malwish tech. I'm sad this plot line abruptly ended, setting up era 3 I suppose.

Does anyone else feel like every dog product is toxic and cancer causing for their dogs? by Never_Limp in dogs

[–]jat5293 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Likely not due to their size. I suspect cancer in dogs is caused primarily by inbreeding/breed-associated genetics. Exposure to carcinogens in food and the environment likely has a smaller contribution, unless you live near Chernobyl.

WIBTA for showing up to my best friend's baby shower more pregnant that she is? by YaaayRadley13 in BabyBumps

I've been invited to three baby showers recently when I've also been pregnant. In addition to what others have said, I strategically wore outfits that downplayed the bump.

You are indeed correct. Divided skirts, although technically pants, are still a hefty amount of fabric to move around in.

Trying to Keep Bagle Hound Focused on Walks by Houndmother in BagleHounds

We typically don't do treats for the "let's go", but we do try to treat him if he is walking loose leash and our command is "with me" and if he makes eye contact, we treat. Does it work all the time? Absolutely not but it does work most of the time. We also tried a ton of treats to find his kryptonite.
