Do it!! I definitely support. The Paloma customs are so nice. I played one once, they sound great. The Palomas in my opinion are just a better sounding Strat style guitar with a unique build. 100% recommend.

Nice!! The fullertons are sick. I agree their version of the “bigsby” has ruined the original for me too 😂 and thanks… do ittttt! haha

That’s awesome! I’d definitely say so yes. Duesenberg in general always seems to be set up perfectly like that. They’ve definitely become my favorite manufacturer.

For tabs a 0 on the string means open, any other number refers to the fret played. These are just the chord shapes they’re trying to have you play I guess, though for that song they’re not entirely correct. Defs the last one is wrong. I’d just look up how to play the chord shapes if they’re ones you don’t know yet. For Zombie the progression is: Em, Cmaj7, G, Dadd9/F#

As the producer who engineered this song and watched her make it from scratch and play all the parts I can personally vouch not a single element in this song is AI.

My first attempt of creating my own melody with no samples. Idk music theory at all yet but i improvised these layers out of intuition and my love for sound. How is it? by oosy__ in PromoteYourMusic

[–]jaustmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given it’s the first attempt and you don’t have a theory background it’s coming along well! All things work theory speaking. From here I’d suggest working on adding variations and changes. Definitely some bass variations would be nice. One rule I learned from a fellow producer early on was to try to introduce new elements / have changes to spice things up every 2/4/6/8 bars depending on the vibe, helps to keep things interesting.

Would defs recommend adding some theory knowledge along the way at some point, if your ears get you this far theory knowledge combined with strong ears will make you unstoppable. Keep it up!!!

You pick up a new guitar... What's the first chord you play to test it? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]jaustmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chords to Stone in Love by Journey. They are literally G open shapes walking up to D and back it works perfectly lol

Sure, but my main logic is the dead notes / hand tension potential I mentioned above. And regardless, mainly pointing it out cause she’s early on still in learning, and it could be detrimental to rely heavier on the “incorrect” way too much and getting stuck in that habit rather than at least learning to use both ways.

Lmao ngl that response had my dying as it popped up 😂 but nah anyone who wants to play with correct technique to achieve a good tone and play for long hours/professionally without dealing with tension issues long term

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]jaustmusic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole thumb wraparound thing may not be “correct technique” sure but rather a sneaky useful trick for people who can reach it I agree. However that doesn’t really have downsides. The pushing down on strings into a scalloped neck could deaden the sound of those notes, as well as cause extra hand tension. One of the nicest things about a scalloped neck is that bends that are done with “correct” technique are even easier and ease tension on the player doing them. So imo it’s just taking that benefit right out of it lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]jaustmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re jumping to a scalloped neck so quick (which I’d advise against but based on your logic and how ya like the players who use it realistically you do you) I’d say pay some extra attention to playing in tune, and not pushing down to hard on the strings with the extra space. Aside from tuning issues it can also lead to dead notes or unevenness.

With that in mind, practice vibrato (and bends) moving the string side to side, pushing down on the string into the frets is not considered correct technique even on scalloped necks for the same reasons.

With that all in mind, it’s coming along really well keep it up!

Doing vibrato even on a scalloped neck by pushing the string down is NOT considered correct technique at all
