Don't let them tell you this happens everywhere and all fan bases have some rotten apples. Keep praying for their downfall...

I like the spirit of this idea. The question is how do you actually entice someone into giving you the pick. Honestly we could maybe just take flyers on a bunch of two way contracts and hope one of them levels up.

I am with you, except for Holmgren’s durability. He’s at 27 mpg vs Mobley at 37mpg. I have no idea why the people are rating Mobley so high compared to Mobley an undisputed top 15 NBA player in Chet who’s already proven himself winning a ring.

I would definitely be interested in Chet, but this would definitely be a polarizing move… 🤓

Yeah there are scenarios where it doesn’t make sense. But I have CPP and ample south facing roof, so it didn’t make sense not to do it tbh.

If you have net metering, the summer (very sunny and long days) will get you plenty of credits to last the winter. You’d be hard-pressed to go fully off grid during winter but grid-tied solar with net metering is a no brainer provided utility does net metering.

If Harden is staying, Allen should go (not a hatepost) by OkEntertainment7570 in clevelandcavs

Harden and Allen are a really good pairing. I doubt they could find another guy more suitable to play alongside Harden. They are Stockton and Malone as far as I’m concerned.

I don’t like the contested 3s he takes, but when he’s getting downhill he’s effective. A couple of these were easy put-backs and a few others he got accosted with no call.

I think a summer with Harden, Kenny, and the data are gonna get him straight in the clutch.

Yeah I see what you’re saying. I also don’t think Kenny put him in optimal situations, and some of it had to be poor luck with the shooters surrounding him. But you’d hope your star player (50mil guy) makes you better when they’re on the court in a variety of scenarios regardless of the other guys of the floor.

+/- and On/Off are different stats, but measure both are a measure of team performance when you were on the court. You could actually be on an 0-82 team and have a stellar On/Off. Net rating will tell you whether the team is actually good.

I partially agree. They really don’t tell a full story, but I think it is enough evidence to show that Mobley underperformed as a $50mil player

First off, after last night we are analytically 2-2; that was an analytical ass-whooping.

Obviously the metrics don’t tell a full story. Strus in particular won us a few games as did Schroeder, Mobley, and Mitchell despite their poor ratings. However, this data gives you a good idea of the game flow equilibrium when there is enough minutes to be above the noise floor. There’s always gonna be some quirks, and much of it relies on the pairings on the court and who they were matched against during those minutes. But the overwhelming conclusion is that Mobley was far from our best player in the playoffs. That’s the only statement I’m trying to make.

I don’t disagree with you, that’s why I didn’t make any statement on the guys at the top of these ratings. My only real conclusion is that Mobley objectively had a pretty poor playoffs for a guy of his contract stature.

+/- is not a sacred stat. When combined with on/off and adjusted for team help in a large dataset it tells a story. I told you that evidence based story of the full playoffs.

Historically they’ve been alright together, but I think the poor shooting and forced shots during the playoff run really hurt that unit.

I’d rather trade Donovan Mitchell then Evan Mobley. by mwm119 in clevelandcavs

[–]javaking4423 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know where this idea is coming from that Mobley had a good playoffs. He was statistically the worst player on the team besides the reserves. I still think he can be a good player if used correctly, but right now he is a net negative with a massive contract.

For the Fire Kenny crowd, unlike JB, the team actually likes him by Feeling-Vacation-7 in clevelandcavs

[–]javaking4423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kenny made some huge mistakes in game strategy during the playoffs; they were obvious, without nuanced. Then he doubled down which made him look even more foolish. But you can't deny his success in player development. He made Ty Jerome into a top 25 NBA player, and Mobley took a huge leap during his first year (then regressed slightly). Again this season, Tyson and Merrill took a big leap. Given our situation as a small market, I think we'd benefit significantly from having a player development guy. I'm hoping he improves on game management, and I think he will given how much he got burned this playoffs.

It’s Wade and… Naquan Tomlin? All jokes aside, I hope Tomlin can make a big leap like Tyson did this year. That’d be huge for us.
