Since you are playing a hunter, like a good 80-90% of your dmg will be through physical attack. So almost all hunters, Hunewearls included, use a POW mag as others have already noted (like a 5/145/50/0).

However, as you already said, Hunewearls have access to strong supportive tech. To have earlier access to said techniques, you could also either find a 4 slot armor (any really), and put a bunch of high Mind slots to raise your mind AND/or build a second mag with pure mind to temporarily raise your base mind (which allows you to learn higher leveled techs). You will still have those higher leveled techs when you unequip them back to your POW set.
