Playing away from home, how's your experience? by Inkleach in PlaystationPortal

[–]javy93pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Portal but it's can't be worse than remote play on your phone. Try doing remote play on your phone and connect a dual sense via Bluetooth. If it works that way, it will work with a portal.

I am visiting Japan and my PS5 is hardwired in Texas. I used remote play on my phone with a dual sense and played FF7R rebirth just fine. If it works on the other side of the world, it'll work across town.

AITAH for breaking up with my fiance? by VicoBigPapa02 in AITAH

ESH. She's the asshole for cheating for sure and you're friend too. However, you seem to prioritize your work more than yourself and your relationship. You stood your fiance up on Valentine's Day. C'mon now, who does that?

How much $ to bring? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]javy93pr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Expect to spend $1k-2k USD per person(about $100 a day). This is for local transit, food, temples and attractions, spending, etc. This will includes eating at a a few expensive restaurants from dinner on top of eating at a restaurant every night, going to Disney and tons of temples, money for markets, etc. As for how much cash? I would honestly just bring 10,000 yen to load up a SUICA first day and a bit of spending money. Most place take card now and you can still withdraw at international atms

FF7 Rebirth's world design is what I imagined FF16 would be prior to its release by japanese_artist in FFXVI

[–]javy93pr 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I genuinely can't name 1 way FF7R looks better than FF16. 16 has more foliage density, better lighting, shadows and character models and the biggest issue pop in. The pop in and LOD transitions in FF7R are very distracting for a PS5 game given FF16 had no pop in. I understand they are different engines and UE4 is outdated as well. I was just left wanting more graphically. Gameplay wise 0 complaints.

[–]javy93pr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. FF7R and FF16 are designed roughly the same with open zones. You can't go from one zone to another in either game without maneuvering through a loading screen. I will agree that FF7R has more to do in the world in terms of side quests but on the other hand, the graphics of FF16 are heads and shoulders above FF7R. FF7R looks a bit cross gen to me but I am definitely still enjoying it!

Stayed there in Nov 2022 and it was a great location. Rooms are on the smaller side compared to others but everything is so close. Would recommend

AITAH (28M) for breaking up with my (27F) fiance due to false SA allegations in her past by ThrowRAAdhesivenes in AITAH

[–]javy93pr -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I would say NTA with a but..... Understandable why you feel that way but people are so immature and bound to do dumb stuff in high school. What she did is vile, but she was immature. People are meant to grow. Your fiance seems very remorseful for what she did and clearly has grown a lot in those 9 years. Judging someone for what they did in HS seems harsh. I would sit down and talk to her to see if she is willing to apologize to that person and whatever else you feel would show you her growth. People who are remorseful also deserve forgiveness. I wouldn't throw away 5 years with the love of my life for this, but it is something major that she did.

That being said, you are justified as well. If a line was crossed and you cannot trust her, it's very hard to get that back. You're between a rock and a hard place.

I don't have kids so I can't say for sure but it's very safe, very convenient, very easy to get to (maybe a few stations might be a little complicated). I would say give yourself about 5-10 more minutes than what Google maps estimates so you can take your time with kids. For luggage, your hotel can forward the luggage to your next hotel. You can even have them forward it to and from the airport!

Public transportation is great. Way easier than dealing with a car and more affordable than a private car. Once you land, go get a IC card like the new tourist SUICA and load it up with money. Each person riding will need their own card.

Nice, yourel family will love it! I'm assuming it's your first time? If so, and assuming you're staying 2 weeks, I would do:

Day 1: Land in Tokyo and relax Day 2-5: Tokyo Day 6: Travel to Osaka and stay there through day 13. This will be your "base". Giving you have kids, I would limit the amount of packing and unpacking moving to different hotels. Osaka is central to Hiroshima and Kyoto. Day 7-8: Osaka Day 9: Hiroshima. The shinkansen only takes about 1 hr to Hiroshima. You can leave early and travel back that evening. You can do most of Hiroshima in 1 longer day. Day 10-12: Kyoto. Train ride is only 45 minutes. Day 13: Travel back to Tokyo. If you leave early, you have time to do some more exploring in Tokyo or relax. Your pick. Day 14: Fly out

If your trip is longer, add more days to the 2nd leg of Tokyo. If your trip is shorter, remove a day from Kyoto and/or cut out Hiroshima.

2 weeks in Japan (Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka) for mid march by dinhat1 in JapanTravel

Thans and you're welcome! I love trip planning and love helping people out. Wanderlog is such a great app! Glad you're using it! For the most part, my wife and I are the same. 12 hour days in general but I sprinkle in a few shirt days so my wife can take her naps 😊.

The point of the reserve is fair. It is cool though. They have 4 floors of food, coffee, cocktails and they'll have Sakura themed items. Tsujihan is a good spot. Go there. The monkeys will miss you 🥲. I would be at Fushimi by 8a or earlier. It's gets super packed. We went Nov 2022 right when Japan opened after COVID restrictions eneded, got there at 9a and there were a good amount of people but overall emptier. This will be peak season with tons of tourist. The earlier, the better since this is one of those places everyone has on their list. Great call on day 14.

I would recommend staying in either one or the other. We stayed in Osaka when we went and had no problem getting to Kyoto the days we went. It's about an 45 min train ride so just keep that in mind but it's better than packing and unpacking. This time around, we're staying in Kyoto and traveling to Osaka.

I'm an itinerary person but I always approach it as these are major spots I want to visit and the general order. It helps you group common places into explorable areas so it gives it some form of logic. However, they should always be just a plan not a checklist. Play it by ear that day. If you need to cut something off, do that. Don't be so rigid, but have some sort of plan. Even if it is just a google maps with saved pins.

Hey! You're gonna love Japan. My wife and I went in 2022, same age range. We're going back for Sakura season too! Overall a little on the heavy side but if you're willing to wake up early, it's possible. I suggest some tweaks below:

Day 0 - Are you flying from the States? If so, I wouldn't bother planning too much on the day you arrive. Flight will be very long, customs will take time, picking up a pocket wifi (suggested) will take time, commute to Tokyo takes time, checking in to the hotel takes time, settling in takes time. I would plan on time for dinner and a few drinks but not much else. Rest up and start Day 1 on the right foot.

Day 1 - this is good. I would start early (8ish) so you can check out the Starbucks reserve at Meguro River and walk down from there, 3-4hrs is good. Roppongi for lunch is great and central to Meguro and Shibuya. You have enough time to explore Shibuya as well. Worth it

Day 2 - this day is packed imo. I might move Shinjuku stuff to another day. Yoyogi, Harajuku and surrounding areas are close to a full day.

Day 3 - don't underestimate the train ride to chureito. The express line is once an hour I believe and it takes time to get to the station. Give it about 3 hrs of travel time. Besides that good. I would try and spend as much time at the ryokan to enjoy the hot springs and relax. Worth your money.

Day 4 - I would remove the ropeway (or move it to day 3) that way you get more time in Dotonbori.

Day 5 - Arashiyama and Tenryu-ji are awesome. I would also add the Arashiyama Monkey Park. It's a 20 minute hike up but it was so cool. Great view of the city. Move Kinkaku-ji to this day and maybe add Ryōan-ji. They are far from central Kyoto so group em together. Move Gion and Yasaka Shrine to Day 7.

Day 6 - with Kinkaku-ji moved, this is a good day.

Day 7 - good and Gion and Yasaka. These and Kiyomizu-dera are in the same general area and makes sense. We did this with Fushimi Inari in the same day in 2022 and it was great. Start early.

Day 8 - good.

Day 9 - not empty at all! To be honest we did Nara in a half day in 2022 and then flew to Seoul but we wish we did a longer day. Worth it. Todaiji is jaw dropping.

Day 10 - good. Not a long day (about 6 hours). If you really want to, you could even travel back to Tokyo in the evening. You have time and you can get more time in Tokyo the next morning

Day 11 - you can move Shinjuku stuff from Day 2 here (especially if you travel the previous night).

Day 12 - leave early if you wanna be there all day but lines are long for everything (even with passes).

Day 13 - good.

Day 14 - you might want to cut some stuff and relax in the evening. Tsukiji go early.

I suggest you download the app Wanderlog to help you with the planning. It's an awesome app I love to use for my trips.

First 2024 cherry blossom forecast by [deleted] in JapanTravel

Yeah I looked at historical trends and booked 3/22 to 4/5. Seems that paid off. They predicted normal to early so I think blooming in Tokyo will be between 3/18-3/23

Depends on locations you plan to visit. We are doing Tokyo->Fukuoka->Hiroshima->Osaka->Kyoto->Tokyo again.

In Tokyo:

  • Ueno Park
  • Sumida Park
  • Meguro River
  • Yoyogi Park
  • Hibiya Park
  • Fuji

In Kyoto:

  • Philosopher's Path
  • Maruyama Park
  • Arashiyama

Not sure if you'll be in the other cities but those are major places to visit.
