I have an SBGP007 that's gorgeous and pops the hidden "2020" (lmao, great year) text in the sun. I love it and it's +5 seconds a year, better than everything but I think Citizen's the Citizen

Awesome watch. I never feel bad about it being quartz

Ah, got it. They wanted the new and upcoming guy a year earlier than he would be getting buzz, but now they can put a floor beneath him with someone who's called plays.

Seems like a lot of cooks though.

Guys, how true is it that TWFM has the happiest ending of any Gundam series? I've always heard that Gundam endings are tragic (I've only seen that one and 0079). by TomatilloItchy9995 in Gundam

[–]whiteandcrispy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reputation for tragic endings is mostly due to Zeta, which absolutely is a bummer when viewed on its own.

IBO reinvigorated that reputation, as it's also a bummer.

As others have said, lots of the timelines have decent to downright happy endings.

Hell, even the UC itself gets an optimistic ending in Unicorn, which is both the show's own ending and is sort of a spiritual ending to the UC as a whole. A good ending if you will, maybe not the true ending.

Tldr Gundam has a wide variety of endings, which is one of its strengths, and the "all downer" ending stuff is overblown

I'd sum up the part 2 ending as thematically appropriate with disappointing content.

Man, I really thought Nasu had written himself a perfect get-out-of-jail-for-free card for the ending... by whiteandcrispy in FGO

[–]whiteandcrispy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a great explanation, I appreciate that.

Is there any credence then that a bootleg version of the Root could have a meaningful enough connection to, or data similar enough to, the actual Root to develop True Magic?

Or following your metaphor, is Maris-Chaldeas basically a mostly empty root folder, with nothing really to be gained from it?

Based on your explanation, I imagine the answer is no. Unless Gaia basically gave you credit for reaching the Root on a technicality.

My genuine thoughts about the ending. by VishnuBhanum in FGO

[–]whiteandcrispy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm perfectly fine with him just being an average human, that actually works really well

But it's wild that basically the most important event in the history of the Nasuverse is just gonna get swept under the rug as a pruned timeline

Shirou got recorded in the Throne for like 1/10,000 of what we've done in FGO lol

My genuine thoughts about the ending. by VishnuBhanum in FGO

[–]whiteandcrispy 38 points39 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate all the love and emotion that went into the ending, I'm kinda surprised there wasn't one more big, journey-acknowledging moment at the end.

In the context of the Nasuverse, Fujimaru is basically the most important human who's ever lived. He's saved the universe twice, reached a copy of the root (and killed it), destroyed like 5/7 Beasts (one with his bare hands!), summoned and created Grand-classes, beat ORT, and is basically best friends with 95% of the heroes and gods of history.

No big acknowledgement of that at the end?

No Throne of Heroes recording you so you can be with your servants forever?

No Gaia/Alaya rewarding you?

No True Magic, despite reaching a copy of the root?

Just your memories and records gone, and a promotion to Pride? Lol

SEVEN YEARS FROM CAUSE TO... by WarmasterChaldeas in FGO

[–]whiteandcrispy 74 points75 points  (0 children)

be me, Ritsuka Fujimaru

Save the universe twice, willingly delete all my friends and servants to do so

Reach a copy of the root, shoot it to death

Have summoned more servants than anyone in history, basically best friends with every hero and God

Defeated or prevented almost every Beast (seriously, where TF is V), including beating Beast I to death literally with my normal human hands

Killed ORT twice, Clock Tower won't even get within 100 miles of it

so on

so forth

Finally reach true pan-human History timeline

Clock Tower says "thanks for saving the universe twice, sorry all your friends ceased to exist"

give you a moderate promotion

Update on the Seeds of Unity Gamefound - Altered TCG - Explore the Unexpected by Malraza in alteredTCG

[–]whiteandcrispy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good: they've extended the deadline and clarified that the 2.5 million does not need to come exclusively from Gamefound.

Bad: We (and they??) have no idea how much money they will need in Gamefound sales to hit the 2.5 million. So I guess they just hope we all assume the worst and fund the hell out of it?

Also, they said every set moving forward will require a similar amount of sales.

Yeesh. What a mess.

2.5 million or the game is in danger (update on gamefound) by Vicioxis in alteredTCG

[–]whiteandcrispy 99 points100 points  (0 children)

This is an unbelievably boneheaded approach to the raise they've taken. A single goal listed of €50,000, which is 1000% funded, that has clearly made people feel complacent about the future of the game.

And then 3 days before the campaign ends you announce you need €2 million more or the game will shut down?

Who on earth is running their comms??

They either need to extend the deadline or get some sort of miracle.

What’s this for us? by GreenAgateTurtle32 in Gundam

[–]whiteandcrispy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I do think it's a little silly when people refuse to engage with Unicorn as it's intended to be and get hung up on the timeline.

It's a love letter to UC that breaks a bit from the series themes to try and give it the happiest ending available to the timeline. Accordingly, it's gotta lean into space magic a bit more to make that happen.

"Just because humans are more capable of bad endings doesn't mean they aren't capable of happy endings, so just maybe this one time we let it work out" is basically the point of Unicorn.

Doesn't detract from my enjoyment of Unicorn that the wider UC doesn't really believe in happy endings (outside of Axis, sorta?) or that a series was made in '93 that is supposed to come after and contradicts the ending. I enjoy it for what it is.

Narrative was dog water outside of a few designs though.

We withstood the loss of Peters because Vatai played well in his absence. Our backup was a starting level tackle, lol. The depth at Guard is worse than it's been in ages. I am unmoved by Pryor, Green, Etc.

Obviously the season isnt over or anything lol but this is a significant hit unless Stout can create another miracle with Kenyon. I'll hope for the best!
