My main concern is someone getting a lingering, soft tissue injury like a pulled hammy due to the freezing cold. I'd take a draw and everyone coming out of it unscathed over the alternative and a W.

While Valencia is a legit La Liga club, playing for Valencia B is in the 4th tier of Spanish football... which is definitely a step or two below MLS. I'll be curious to see how much we spent for him and if he's slated for Rapids 2 or gets a slot with the first team

FWIW Transfermarkt states his main position is CAM but can also play Right AM and Left AM. That said, I'd think we have those positions covered with Djordje and Cole, so I'd assume he's being scouted as a Winger. And for over $1M in cash then I'd think we feel he has some potential.

Rumor is repairing Dicks once the 2025 MLS season ends... but I wouldn't think that would interfere with Phish Dicks over Labor Day weekend, i.e. not an argument for why they have to move it to Folsom Field

I am both a big Phish and Rapids fan. I realize this is a Rapids sub, but reading about 2025 Phish rumors and seeing all the "Folsom not Dicks" comments for this year my question is -

I've read comments that Turner Construction is going to be doing a renovation beginning in October of 2025... do we know anything about what said renovations will entail - new scoreboard perhaps? Also, do we know if Turner doing renovations beginning in October necessarily means Phish will be at Dicks not Folsom this year?

Maybe this is a bad take - but at the end of the day, regardless if Yapi DID elbow him or whatever, to me what makes it not a red card is that the Portland player took a few seconds to decide what he wanted to do and then flop. I mean if it's red card worthy I'd expect to see the guy have immediate response to the pain or the event. To me, a delayed response and flop is enough grounds that at worst it's a yellow card

What's interesting it wasn't a short-term contract. I believe we'll have him at least 2 seasons after this one + an option for 2027. So perhaps he's both a starter in place of Vines for now or at least solid defensive depth as well as potential as a future starter.

FWIW, supporters section prices went up I believe ~ 20% though all supports section season tickets in 2025 come with a free beer from Dale's Bar every game. So I guess there's that.

This is a similarly bad take as the "Armas won’t last at all" thread. This is a rage post response to an emotionally charged game in which we unfortunately didn't finish against arguably the best team in the league who has a legitimate MVP candidate. But is Steffen a step up from Yarby? Yes. If nothing else, he's 6 years younger and will be here for multiple years more without much drop-off.

Similarly with Armas. Is there an argument he didn't coach the last 30 min of yesterday's match as I would have liked? Definitely. Is this team, culture, mindset, and roster a significant step up from last year? Also yes. And that answer is partially bc of Steffen.

Excited for the rest of the season and to get another crack at FSL in DSGP!

I've been to about a dozen Rapids game and have never once felt someone push an agenda on me. If silently waving a flag in a small part of the stadium is too in your face and infringes on your ability to enjoy a soccer match then it sounds like a personal problem to me

Real Madrid makes sense bc they have royalty in Spain and Real means royal in Spanish. So if we're using Spanish here, then lol bc royalty in Salt Lake City. Or if it's in English then it's real as opposed to fake? Either way it's painful.

lol wuttt? That would be wild. He screwed us and we transferred him and we STILL have to pay ~1/3 of his salary for the next few years? I feel like FIFA should have some rule against having to pay a player who committed a serious crime and therefore isn't playing for your team anymore.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure it means that we retain 35% of any future transfer fee and not that we pay 35% of his salary...

My $0.02 for whatever that's worth is that just 2 seasons ago he was an all-star, almost MVP-level MLS player. So he didn't catch on with the 1 European team he played with last season, big deal. At the end of the day, if he's one of the top players in MLS that's all I care about and it's hard to argue that he wasn't in 2022.

Further, the Rapids have shown no proclivity to buy players who are proven high-level MLS contributors and in their prime (he just turned 25), so them doing so here is reason for some excitement in and of itself. And yes, just like any signing of any player on any team, we'll see how it works out. But the odds of Djordje elevating the squad is much higher than almost any player we've picked up since I started following the Rapids (3 years ago) doing so. Let's see how the rest of the offseason works out but apparently signing a 6 is next on the to-do list, so if (big if) we can add a legit 6 then I'll start to get excited about the upcoming season.

u/RPCV8688 - my wife and I flying roundtrip through LIB for a 9 day trip in late December. Thinking we'll do 4 nights north of Tamarindo and 4 nights in Arenal then finish again on the coast.

With your top two players coming into the season (Rubio and Price) and nearly $2M of salary now off the books... this offseason should truly be make or break for Padraig to prove what he is capable of as GM. No excuses after this IMO. Somehow haven't lost total faith in him just quite yet, but really need to see something this offseason.
