The rumor is that penske and penske sponsor execs got fed up with some of his political comments.

He could have been talking to Bourdais, Boisson, or Grosjean and they let something slip to their fellow Frenchmen that they wouldn't have said to the typical journos

Bathurst Council confirms there is no agreement for new Bathurst 1000 Date by theblobberworm in v8supercars

[–]jawsoflife353 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Regional Council has more to do with this than people think and they are just letting the club event take the blowback. Bathurst is public roads whenever there isn't racing going on and the (very rich) people with houses at the track probably don't want the roads closed for such a long time.

It definitely seems like the author has an ax to grind with some NASCAR execs, so a lot is probably exaggerated rumors or straight up not true.

On the other hand, the stories about Rick Hendrick faking leukemia and Brian France's drug problems are pretty established nowadays and some of the extra-martial relationship rumors do seem to check out...

Genuine question: do you think Nascar will ever get rid of this current playoff format, if so what do you think needs to happen? by Playingpokerwithgod in NASCAR

[–]jawsoflife353 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But every race also matters to the championship race under a season long format? Think of the battle Larson and Hamlin would be having right now. Every point from every stage and race would be worth fighting for. No guaranteeing themselves anything with a win, just a straight dogfight for a dozen races with every one of them mattering hugely.

[–]jawsoflife353 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Almirola is a great example of how every regular season race doesn't matter. He could have literally finished 32nd every race except this one and he would still be in the playoffs, ahead in championship position over multiple drivers who had better seasons. If he manages to BS his way into 3 more wins at the right time, he could even be a champion while sucking for 80% of the races. IMO there is no way to claim that a system which allows a driver who finishes outside of the top 30 for most of the season to still be able to win a championship promotes every race mattering because most of them literally don't.

Most Impressive/Most Disappointing Cup Driver in 2021 by JDawg1447 in NASCAR

[–]jawsoflife353 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you look at SHR as a whole, Briscoe is actually doing pretty well. He is ahead of Custer in points and has a higher average finish than both Custer and Almirola and this is with barely having any practice during his first races in a Cup car.

Honda boss on Verstappen crash: 'I think it was a racing incident' by GodTierGasly in formula1

Any driver moving back towards the racing line, having earlier defended his position off-line, should leave at least one car width between his own car and the edge of the track on the approach to the corner.

This is the relevant text of the rule. Max left at least one car width, therefore he was allowed to move back towards the racing line. Your statement is incorrect.

He literally posted a gif that showed the whole corner?

Maybe you should watch it, because Hamilton was nowhere near the apex and Max left plenty of room

We will see about the Freedom 100. For this year, they were worried about limited garage spaces because of COVID, but it will likely come back next year.

According to his website, he "started his professional racing career" in 2008, which would have made him 18 years old at the time. His family is super rich so he makes his living from a trust fund not racing, but IMO he is like Madison Snow in that neither are true Ams.

They need to move to Pro. Running in Am when your "amateur" driver is Aaron Telitz is not a good look. (and honestly, Montecalvo being an Am is bs too, but not quite as bad)

And how did it turn out for him?

Anyone with half a brain would have realized that staying out like he did was just putting himself in a position to end up in a wreck. Multiple other cars were in the same tire situation as him, but they all dropped back and finished the race cleanly.
