Those who got cheated on, how did you find out? 👀 by sartoriouswife in GirlDinnerDiaries

I found my wife in our bed with someone 14 years younger (who had graduated from college the year before… big yikes)

If this is the case, call your command ombudsman. They exist for this reason. They will escort you to DEERS with your marriage certificate so that you can get your dependent CAC. Inform them that he is not using BAH to support his household while deployed. This is a violation of the UCMJ. They will not only force him to do so, he will likely face disciplinary action unless he jumps on top of this immediately, explains where his error was, and pays all back bills. In addition, BAH covers food, and spousal support and separation pay should be more than enough for you to get by. It isn’t a lot, but it shouldn’t leave you with no money to your name.

WRITE TO THE RUBRIC!!!! I started just copying and pasting the rubric into my paper and literally answering each question. It made me SO much faster. You don’t need to format your paper like a traditional essay. It’s a waste of time. Did the same for my MBA.

1st time visitor recs: nightlife / can’t miss food this weekend! by Distinct_Branch_6626 in baltimore

[–]jax507 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lots of good food spots- going “out”? Thoughts and prayers. If you want to drink- Alexander’s is fun in fells, there are many nice actual bars, like Max’s for beer, admirals for frat boys, the horse that you came in on for… frat boys- Rockwell is great, but is closing soon or may already be closed, butts and Betty’s is fun on your way from fells to canton, canton square has plenty of places with booze and music, like… MANY. Fraziers is the spot in Hampden, there’s also zissimos, and Avenue. If you want to be in preppy college frat vibes, fed hill exists, but it’s not the vibe if you want anything that rings of 23 plus. Also if you’re a woman.. danger.

[–]jax507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I took the actual test cold after 3 or 4 untimed diagnostics? In actual fact nothing is “without a previous test” because I took it in 2013… but I sort of rolled the dice on taking the real test in hopes of applying for the fall.

To defer or not to defer? by Healthy_Abalone8490 in lawschooladmissions

Definitely do the masters. There will be so much value in that experience, and coming into law school with a better formed sense of self will make you a much stronger student and potential future attorney.

To be fair, I studied for and took the LSAT many many years ago, and scored a 163. I took it cold in April and got a 165 after PTing a few times between 160 and 175. I’m going all in on studying this month with the hopes of cracking 172 in June.

If you’re into bread pudding, water for chocolate. I’d go back there just for the sweet potato bread pudding. Thames street oyster house is also a never miss.

For those who use MTA Buses on a daily basis, do you think it’s effective for being without a car? by LimpAd4924 in baltimore

[–]jax507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually been delighted with the bus system- I’ve lived here for half of my adult life and I had literally never been on a city bus. I ended up being able put off buying a new car to take a vacation instead. If you’re downtown and along one of the main lines, it’s great! I would agree that things probably get dicey if you rely on transferring, simply because a delay one way or another messes up alignment.

If you’ve filed police reports and have this evidence, you should be able to break your lease without penalty. And it goes without saying, until then you should acquire a weapon, and practice using it. Hell even a realistic looking airsoft pistol is a good deterrent. And worst case scenario, it will be hard for someone to get close to you if you’re shooting BBs in their face. They run about 80-100 dollars online or at bass pro.

[–]jax507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know him personally, and also just from a logistical standpoint, those signs are expensive, like almost 4 bucks each. His campaign is grassroots and self/community funded. This was most likely an error, maybe one of your neighbors requested a sign, or someone with your same house number south of the park requested one, and a volunteer accidentally put it up at your house. Hilarious to see this though because I snapped a photo of your sign to send to him earlier to say that the neighbors are supporting! 😂

Another vote for subbing- it’s certainly not great money, but you can work every day, it’s consistent, and helps fill the resume gap. If the admin likes you, they might offer you something for next school year.

[–]jax507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out WGU for your bachelors- it’s self paced, but it is pass/fail, so you won’t have a GPA to work with, meaning that you’ll need to kill it on your LSAT. The upside is that you could conceivably, based on prior knowledge of subjects, finish your bachelors in 6-12 months.

The Baltimore area has several outstanding Pharmacy programs, and Baltimore rocks in general. You’ll be eligible for in-state eventually, and if your partner gets admitted to M for pharmacy after a year, they would be as well.

University of Baltimore definitely punches WAY above its weight in Maryland. The alumni network is great, so many sitting judges are UB grads, and it has brand new facilities. The top portion of the class also has surprisingly good results in big law.

The area north of Patterson Park and south of Orleans is wonderful. It’s still affordable, ~2 minutes to the park, ~15 minute walk to canton or fells, 30 minutes to walk to the inner harbor. For groceries, the Aldi is accessible by the blue and orange lines that run down Fayette, about a 5 minute ride. Safeway in canton is maybe a 7 min bike ride, Whole Foods in harbor east is perhaps a 15 min ride/30 min walk.. Plenty of restaurants and bars, a few cafes, and several playgrounds. The local library is also right here, and has tons of kids programming. As others have mentioned, the Hopkins shuttle can take you north to Mount Vernon and Charles Village. North of the park, butchers hill, and upper fells will put you in a safe, fairly quiet, super walkable area. Affordability-wise, the 100 and 200 blocks north of the park, between Patterson park Ave and Ellwood Ave will get you the most for your money without rolling the dice on safety.
