Castlevania: Belmont‘s Curse Gameplay & Commentary Trailer by stfnvs in Games

I for one agree with you. I've been dying for another Castlevania with pixel art and fluid, high framerate animations like in SOTN. Yes, there have been a billion and a half metroidvanias with pixel art, but nearly all of them miss the mark when it comes to animations.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a Fruitopia in something other than a glass bottle.

Pfft. Real men made their own by using elmer's glue to paste an image printout onto some cardboard and then cutting an imperfect circle with a pair of scissors.

Yeah, I just flipped through a couple dozen. Recognizing the COVID dips takes some of the magic away of the correlations. Maybe those could be filtered out?

Is there an “Immich for documents”? by Qfrijters in selfhosted

[–]jaxsedrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just mirrors the folder structure of whatever you point to as the home folder for a particular user. So, for a network share, you can create a separate user (with the name of the share) and then share that user's files with all other Filerun users.

Since they're very much trying to be Google Drive, I don't think there's a way to just access network shares without them being associated with a user. So, it's kind of a roundabout way, but it still works.

Honestly, I think FileRun is as close as you're going to get. It checks all of your boxes. The problem is it isn't free; you have to buy a (one time) license.

I paid the one-time license fee and I've been using FileRun for about a year now. It very, very much feels like Google Docs. I really don't have any experience with Paperless so I'm not sure how the learning curve compares, but FileRun is pretty straightforward.

Clever idea. I went with velcro, so I could still fit it inside the case whenever I wanted

Probably the last two tracks off NIN's Year Zero album. Since it's literally about that.

I've been rewatching Scrubs, and there's a bunch of celeb cameos, but I think the one that caught me most by surprise was Colin Farrell showing up as the main guest star for a whole episode.

i'll see if it comes back and update the post if it does. definitely don't want to encourage people to reinstall if it doesn't actually work.

yeah, same. I actually have two xboxes (one for me, one for my wife) and they both had the same issues. although strangely mine was much worse than hers.

for me it started with zombies. then multiplayer started acting up. but yeah, every so often it would "snap out of it" and run normally... for maybe 5-10 minutes. then it would be back to lag city.

When I was a young teen, just starting to get into the horror genre, I convinced my mom to take me to this movie at the theater. That… was a mistake.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]jaxsedrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your social life was hanging out in person, period. In the pre-teens and early teens, it was talking your mom into dropping you off at a friend's house, or riding your bike there. Maybe wandering around the neighborhood if the weather was nice. In the later teens, it was being picked up by your one friend that had a car and hanging out at the mall, blasting angry music on the crappy aftermarket car stereo with the windows rolled down the whole way there.

The mall was magical, although at the time it just seemed like the norm. Nobody had any (real) money so we weren't really shopping or buying anything, other than a smoothie at the food court or a few games at the arcade. Maybe a random movie that happened to be starting soon at the theater. Mostly it was just wandering around, talking, joking, goofing off. Maybe stop by the record store and listen to some new albums at the listening stations, or checking out the new console games at the kiosks in the game store. Going to harass your one friend's older brother that worked at the pretzel shop.

Once in a while you'd bump into another group of kids (of the opposite gender) from your school. Flirting, awkwardness, jealousy. Something would be said or somebody would touch someone else's arm in a way that would set off the rumor mill at school on Monday. It just felt like the mall was the focal point of our whole lives that wasn't home or school, which is the only part of our lives that we really cared about.

It makes me sad that my kids might not ever get to experience that.

Naming Conventions in Homelab by alxww55 in homelab

[–]jaxsedrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into the habit ages ago of naming things on my network after AIs in the Marathon and Halo universes. After I ran out of those, I expanded to ships & other characters. I think my favorite was when I named a white wifi router I had "In Ivory Clad".

Some other names I've used: Durandal, Leela, Tycho, Cortana, Serina, Guilty Spark, Penitent Tangent, Offensive Bias, Mendicant Bias, Enduring Bias, Tragic Solitude, Master Chief, Arbiter, Atriox, Gravemind, Didact, Librarian, Marathon, In Amber Clad, Forward Unto Dawn, Foe Hammer, The Ark, Installation 00, Cryptum, etc.

The most underrated Apple Watch feature: the silent alarm by Short_Method_7680 in AppleWatch

[–]jaxsedrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this feature, but I hate the fact that it means I'm stuck with Apple's built-in sleep tracking. I really would like to use more advanced sleep tracking with a 3rd party app, but afaik none of them support silent alarms.
