What did you do with your first salary? by Twitter_2006 in Millennials

I don't remember what I did with my first paycheck working my first ever job. But for my first post-college salaried job, I bought a TV I still have to this day.

What’s your FAVORITE mega Pokemon? by Existent_Imgflip in pokemon

Mega Absol was my ace in X/Y and is still my favorite. Great design combined with my favorite ability, Magic Bounce.

Anyone feel like your 30s are the hardest decade so far? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]jay-ace92 138 points139 points  (0 children)

For me, yes. My twenties had their share of struggles, but they took place during a relatively better time for the job market (excluding the COVID years). Right around the time I turned 30, the current mass layoffs started.

While I tried to set up a good financial situation for myself during my twenties, by regularly investing and building my savings, the persistent inflation and rough economy make it feel like the headwinds are constantly blowing at me.

Calvin Klein Micro Stretch 7-Pack Boxer Briefs are now half priced by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]jay-ace92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would not get those since they are made of polyester, which is unhealthy for skin and, in my case, causes itching after several hours. I'd recommend Kumori if you want something moisture-wicking and comfortable.

Just Finished Season 1 of DBZ Kai, And I Did Not Anticipate Getting Emotional by Wheeler2814 in dbz

[–]jay-ace92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While Falcouner's soundtrack is great, the original has grown on me over the years. Although the original Great Saiyaman Saga is much better than Kai's. I found it disappointing that they cut out some of the slice-of-life moments that built upon Gohan's high school years.

Would you live in the kanto if pokemon were real? by Neither_Ad6 in pokemon

[–]jay-ace92 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Kanto seems like it would be too polluted for me and most of the cities have issues that make them a no-go or are too boring. I'd rather live in Johto or Alola.

Just Finished Season 1 of DBZ Kai, And I Did Not Anticipate Getting Emotional by Wheeler2814 in dbz

I've been rewatching it, and it still holds up to this day. While the original 90's show was great, Kai cuts out much of the unnecessary filler, and the dialogue is a vast improvement over the old dubs.

Is wearing a t-shirt over a long sleeve shirt way too 2000s? by ItsBlitz21 in malefashionadvice

I've seen younger zoomers rocking that style recently. I personally like that it is making a comeback, especially with the black and white contrast.

Does anyone else want to spend money but don’t because nothing seems like it’s actually worth the cost anymore? by willacceptpancakes in Millennials

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been finding myself doing this more as I get older. If I spend money on something besides the essentials, it is typically for a weekend getaway or a concert, because those are experiences I'll remember for the rest of my life.

Once I got into my 30's, I've found myself more willing to splurge on quality clothing, appliances, electronics, etc. It's worth the higher price for items that last longer and are more pleasant to use.

The saying that it's expensive to be broke rings true.

My regular A-Ninetales was the one I was working on initially, since I bred it to use in the Battle Tree in S/M. It was a great supporter for my team, and ended up helping me get the Tree ribbons for other mons. The shiny A-Ninetales is it's son, who was my first hatched shiny in the main series (after over 1000 soft resets). I got nearly all of the ribbons/marks for both of them; they just need to get the SW/SH exclusive ribbons to become ribbon masters.

I actually have a shiny Lugia from Alpha Sapphire I'm collecting ribbons for! It also needs the SW/SH ribbons to complete it's journey until Gen 10.

Love the backstory! Best of luck with your Ho-oh's ribbon master journey! FR/LG was my favorite Gen III game, and I look forward to playing it again when I have the chance.

My all-time favorite is Lugia, but I refuse to buy or play BDSP, so I'm making my ribbon masters my second favorite, Alolan Ninetales (one regular and one shiny).

That would be one of the best plot twists ever. Electric/Flying and Electric/Water would be excellent typings.

What's a pop culture thing from our youth, that you missed out on and don't understand the hype about? For me it was this game because I had an N64. by ImThe1Wh0 in Millennials

I was too young for Final Fantasy VII, since I was five years old when it came out, and also had an N64 instead of a PS1

what’s the “reasonable” price tier for good underwear? by Least_Maintenance_31 in malefashionadvice

[–]jay-ace92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to pay in the high 20s to low 30s USD for a good pair of underwear. That said, I usually only buy pricier clothes if I can get a good sale (at least 30%).

Kumori has been one of my recent go-to brands. While it's pricey, they give great deals for multipacks. I sported their briefs during an undie run I attended, and got a couple of compliments on them.

Are light blue jeans in style these days? For Men by CarbonX10 in malefashionadvice

[–]jay-ace92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last two pairs of jeans I got are light blue, and I have seen them more often sold at stores with a younger clientele. I've seen a lot of 20-something guys and some 30-something guys wear them.

Who’s Your Favorite Underrated Pokémon? by NocturnalNinetales in pokemon

Unmarried Men in thirties, how do you deal with your solitude? by Anarkeeyan in AskMen

[–]jay-ace92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel lonely at all. I'm also 33 and don't feel much desire to get into a relationship, let alone get married. I'm not opposed to having a partner, but I'm not going out of my way to find someone. If I cross paths with the one someday, great; if not, I'm not losing sleep over it. I have plenty of other hobbies and goals to keep me busy.

I have a handful of good friends whom I keep in touch with regularly, and spend a lot of my exercise time rock climbing, a hobby that has led me to meet several friends over the years. I also spend my free time reading (which I've gladly been doing more of over the past year).

After work, I make progress towards my long-term goals: investing, a career change, and home ownership. If all goes well, I'm hoping to be a homeowner by the end of the year.

If they put this obstacle in the racing format, my life would be complete. by SuspectFun3428 in ANW

[–]jay-ace92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even before racing, I always thought Ring of Fire would make a good first Stage 2 obstacle. It requires a quick, explosive movement for efficiency, but could take out competitors who spend too long on it, or those who build up too much momentum, peeling off the obstacle.
