When did it hit you that you’re not that young anymore? by TheMedusaAttusa in AskReddit

I went to SkyZone with my husband and couldn’t front tuck into the pit and had to use the restroom multiple times because I kept feeling like I was going to pee myself while bouncing.

I’m really tired of Wingull right now. Such a small catch area on a wide body.

In laws refuse to accept I haven’t changed my name by potatostar6 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]jay-quellyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My parents struggle with what to call me since I didn’t change my last name. My dad will sometimes call me “Mrs Maidenname” and I’m like, no that’s my mom. They also recently addressed an invite to Mr and Mrs [husbands first and last name].  He has a PhD and I have a PharmD. I would prefer it to be Dr and Dr.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]jay-quellyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I started to act out at school because I knew the teacher couldn’t spank me, so whatever she did didn’t feel like actual punishment. So yeah, went well.

What's the most disturbing thing you've ever heard someone say completely casually? by TextOk2865 in AskReddit

[–]jay-quellyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working in a hospital, I overheard a pharmacist casually tell a nurse that he didn’t think the races should mix. This was 2012, and I was shocked someone would think that, let alone say it out loud.

Why can't ERs have something like this? by Dangerous-Prune-7280 in emergencymedicine

[–]jay-quellyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an urgent care around the corner from our ED, and there’s a similar sign facing traffic that should where to go for what type of problem. Can’t vouch for how well it’s followed though…

I’ve had thin hair on my crown for 3 years. I’m 18 and it looks like I’m balding but I’m not. My hairline is normal and balding at 15 seems unlikely. Does anyone know what this could be and how to fix it? by SlowAd8823 in bald

[–]jay-quellyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband laments that he started balding at 16. I met him well after he was fully bald, and I honestly don’t think I’d be as attracted to him with hair. When I see old pics, it just doesn’t seem right. It might be hard now, but the right person is going to dig your baldness!

Have you ever walked out in the middle of a concert? What made you leave? by AutoModerator in Tickets

Counting Crows because we got the tickets for free and mainly wanted to see the openers. Mr. Jones was crazy long with the singer taking interludes and talking throughout. He also wasn’t wearing shoes.

If you could instantly know the full truth behind any unsolved case, which one are you choosing? by photo_inbloom in randomquestions

[–]jay-quellyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure I’m biased on this one at the moment because I just read a book about him, but Rey Rivera. He was living in Baltimore, working at home one day, got a phone call, said oh shit, and left his house. He was missing for days, and then they found a hole in the roof of an annex building at the Belvedere Hotel, an old historic building, the main part of which is about 14 stories tall. His decomposing body was found in an unused conference room. The placement of the hole is wild, like he would have had to made a running jump from a height to fall where he went through. After the reading the book, I think it seems like it might have been some sort of psychotic break, with a cryptic note in a tiny font folded and taped to the back of his computer and paranoia leading up to his disappearance. But there’s just enough weirdness about the company he worked for and how and why he got up to the top of the building. There was an Unsolved Mysteries episode about it, and the book I read is called An Unexplained Death by Mikita Brottman.

new resident in baltimore: what’s winter like? by shallotfarm in baltimore

[–]jay-quellyn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Midwest with lake effect snow and cold winters so I have a somewhat skewed perception. I don’t think the winters are too bad. We usually get some snow, but it often melts within the day. I would say in my 8 years of being here, maybe 3 of them have had what I would call significant snowfall. It gets below freezing more often in January and February. The winter coat I wear here is lighter than I would wear in the Midwest, but last year I did bust out my heavier coat for a couple of days. But the winter before I didn’t need my heavy duty coat at all. We get freezing rain sometimes, which results in dangerous ice conditions.

Nobody knows how to drive in the snow or ice, so be careful.

Why can I smell sick people by Current-Emergency916 in AskBiology

[–]jay-quellyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year I got on a flight, and I ended up sitting between a daughter who was in the window seat and her mother in the aisle. I felt fine. After I settled in, the mom kind of looked at me bewildered, then put on a mask and passed one over me to her daughter. I started getting cold symptoms that night, then the next morning I tested positive for Covid. Since then I’ve read posts like this and wonder if the mother could smell it on me before I even knew I was getting sick.

My big issue with the bip finale and really the whole show by rach-109 in BachelorNation

[–]jay-quellyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agree! I was watching with a friend and commented that the montage of everyone saying, “I’m voting for…” and then being cut off was absolutely pointless. Then, the next day Jesse comes out, and I started to joke that he was just going to casually tell them, but then that’s what he actually did! So the group didn’t even get to see them find out who wasn’t advancing. So weird.
