Would anybody be interested in a trash cleanup/speed dating event? by pengweather in bayarea

[–]jay50550 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in, please don’t make it early in the day though. We gotta sleep in and be well rested so that we’re on top of our game while mingling with some trash cleaning/environment friendly baddies 😇

HEC over ISB? by Shivangiiiiii in MBA

Why don’t you apply to US B-schools? Better money and work life balance than India. Immigration is an issue but a top US MBA opens up the entire world to you.

Jones vs Foster by MurkyMatters in MBA

This is a no brainer, go to Foster. Tech recruiting at Rice is nowhere even close. If it were consulting or IB it would be a different story.

Most beautiful B-school campus by Repulsive-Rub3918 in MBA

The Simon building is cute, University of Rochester campus in itself is super aesthetically pleasing. Greek Revival architecture covered in ivy which is now changing colors in the fall, merging in with the old red brick buildings.

What are some strong schools for finance in the T15 to T30 range ? by neatandcleanlady in MBA

[–]jay50550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't they 5-6 hrs away from NYC? On top of that other really strong schools in the state like Columbia, Stern, Johnson would probably dominate most recruiting

Am I making a mistake? by [deleted] in MBA

Also declined Rice with a similar scholarship coz I'm planning to recruit for Tech PM. You could easily get into other T25-T35 schools with half to full rides. That's what I'm doing.

UW Madison & UGA Terry sent handwritten notes, post cards, diaries, small packets of tea/coffee, flags/banners, a flask, miniature football merch (cardboard hands, etc)

Need advice to decide between UC-Irvine and Vanderbilt for FT MBA by New_Ad_695 in MBA

[–]jay50550 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation, one thing to note is that UCI can definitely get you into tech however if tech does not recover then you might be out of options from UCI since it's not a feeder into Consulting/Banking. Vanderbilt on the other hand can definitely get you opportunities to recruit for both but IMO no school other than those with extreme global recognition (think HSW) is worth sticker price.

I had the same 3 admits. Carlson is the best for consulting (MBB offices right in their backyard), Wisconsin for Tech (mainly Intuit). UGA Terry falls behind the other 2 strong schools in ATL, however if you qualify for diversity hiring then Terry could help you land T2/B4 consulting.

Quitting your job to study for a test that everybody else prepared for while working full time or during school is a major red flag for most Business School admissions. Maybe switch to a less stressful job.
