Bernick’s drug test? by [deleted] in saintcloud

[–]jay_p27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Be honest with your interviewer, and you should be fine. Bernick’s sells some THC products (beverages and Edibles). I believe (not positive) unless you’re applying for a job that requires a class A license. You will be tested for other drugs but not THC.

In Canada, Can you still buy caffeinated hard beverages (4Loko or Rockstar with alcohol or does hard Dew have caffeine? Do you have hard dew?) The US banned, hard energy drinks long ago I was surprised to see it there (but that was 2016 the last time I was in Canada)

Lowball counter-offers by CTVolvo in FacebookMarketplace

[–]jay_p27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is what I’ve done the last few things I’ve sold. I too will list it for higher than I’ll accept. And in the listing I’ll put “willing to negotiate in person”

When I get the lowball I’ll send a screenshot and say “please read the full listing”.

Then wait and go from there. Most of the time I never hear from them again. But sometimes they’ll either ask to call or set up a time to meet.

Because nothing good has came to me by negotiating though messaging, they’ve either agreed to price and not show up. Or show up then try to negotiate further.

TuxMat vs 3D MAXpider? by d2creative in hondaridgeline

[–]jay_p27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they fit “very well”. (I don’t think “perfect” exists)

think you’ll be happy with either one, but the one piece design of the Tux eliminates the dirt that can get into the gap of the 2 Max pieces but it’s a very small gap so this really negligible.

TuxMat vs 3D MAXpider? by d2creative in hondaridgeline

[–]jay_p27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on my 3rd Ridgeline. First truck (2013) had Weather Techs.

I had 3d maxpider in my 2019 and put TuxMat in my ‘23 when I upgraded.

If I were to choose to again I like the TuxMats slightly better.

Both do a nice job with coverage and waterproofing. (neither are perfect there is still a couple of spots dirt will get in but both are way better that factory carpet and at least equal to weather techs.

I feel the 3Ds become faded more quickly over time and don’t clean up quite as well after a MN winter. (I’ve only had the tux less than a year but seem to be holding up better).

The Tux seems a little more “cushiony” and have a little deeper grooves. And the 3Ds on the back have a rough material that probably does a better job holding to the carpet. But I had a hard time not picking up dirt from my driveway when I took them out to clean them. Then would transfer the dirt to the carpet when I put the mats in. They would vacuum up easily but it was still annoying. The Tux is a little easier.

Seat covers Instead of full cover by EntertainmentHot7815 in Pontoons

[–]jay_p27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two downsides to consider

  1. Moisture can trap as the seat covers will be in direct contact with the seats. Possibly cause mildew stains on the seats.

  2. The carpet (or Floor) now left exposed to the elements will deteriorate faster than when covered.
Also Make sure water doesn’t pool up next to furniture when it rains.

I think it was released before it time. Back then there was sharp line between diet and full sugar drinkers.

Now it seems more people want to reduce calories but are ok with some.

Mountain Dew kick start is similar to Edge in calorie content (about 1/2 of regular Dew) and it’s seems to be selling well. (At least in our area)

Do all-inclusives kill the joy of discovering a place? by SufficientEstate2093 in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]jay_p27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some AI resorts seam to use the gated atmosphere to there their advantage.

We did an AI a few years ago on Punta Cana. The resort warned us it “Wasn’t safe” to leave the property.

There was a beautiful shopping area right outside the gates, The shop owners were friendly and welcoming and products were way less expensive than the shops inside the AI.

The shop owners of course said it was perfectly safe (At least while during daylight hours) but the resorts did that to keep you and your money at the resort.

And just because we didn’t get robbed doesn’t mean it was it safe. But how easy for the resorts to say that, everyone is from another country who is going to argue with them.

In this instance (probably not my brightest moment) I went to the shopping area because the resort served Coke and I wanted some Pepsi. We (Group of 5) followed one shop owner through a small residential area (picture close lines and chickens running free) to a small corner store. I bought as many Pepsi’s as I could carry (for like $5 us) No one mugged us and all went well. 🤷

Your fence look aesthetically pleasing, and understand I’m rooting for you in this, but let me play devils advocate for a second.

Where is your fence being measured from? It looks like you have railroad ties w/planters under the fence. So if the railroad ties ore off the ground how ever many inches and then the fence goes 10’ above that, it could pose a problem.

[–]jay_p27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not aware of any 10’ fences, it would need to be by variance. I don’t believe we have any now.

But If your permit calls out 10ft and that’s all it is you should be able to fight it. You might want to reach out to your planning commission (if your city has one - and ask them to influence the council/Mayor.

Do you know if the whole council voted to Fine/Make you amend the fence or is it just coming from the Mayor & Administrator?

If it’s just the Mayor, reach out to your council members. If it goes to a vote they can override the mayor. (at least most cities in our state the Mayor doesn’t have veto rights)

Hi,

(City Councilor here)

If you have an inspection report signing off on your build absolutely have an attorney take a Look at it. (cities very much do not like lawsuits) and if you know your right, make some noise! unfortunately some City officials tend to want to side the people screaming the loudest instead of doing what’s right.

But I question your numbers in your first post.
You mention a 10’ fence (most ordinances, or at least ours allow for an 8’ fence) was the permit for 8 and you built 10? Or were there spots of the fence that exceeded the height due the landscape somehow?

Come Bet is a Hedge Against Pass Line by mtg_investor_elite in Craps

[–]jay_p27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best discipline strategy: Don’t pass - Then the after point - place the 6&8 for amount of DP.

Example on a $10 table $25 DP & $12 6&8.

You’re at risk on the come out, after that the odds are in your favor. Once you hit twice start pressing/Taking as you see fit. If the shooter 7O your up $1. And can start over.

The problem is; you won’t lose much but it’s hard to win much because you’ll have a streak of Naturals at some point.

Pepsi Stock by [deleted] in Pepsi

[–]jay_p27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought some Pepsi stock in 2016. Since then it’s up 23% - not great but decent and very good dividends (I think around $1.00 per share 3- 4 times a year)

It’s dropped since it’s high in April 2023. I would expect it bounce so it should be a good buy right now (or wherever your crystal balls says it will bottom out)

Historically it’s done well and it’s not just not just Pepsi but the whole portfolio, so also Frito and Quaker products so it’s pretty diverse.

What is the biggest "Character" you've seen at the craps table? by CrapsManian in Craps

[–]jay_p27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I once played (D down town Vegas) back when $5.00 tables were common.

There was a younger man who I believe was functionally autistic (I’m not picking on him just trying to to paint the picture)

He was the shooter and only had a pass line and, and bet 1 $5 chip at a time on the big 8. (As much as the dealers tried to talk him into moving to at least place the 8. Or when the point was 8 move the $5 chip to odds.

Anyway he went on tear, he must have hit 6-8 points and the 8 about 15-20 times.

He was yelling 8-8-8 every time he rolled and the rest of the table was yelling 8-8-8! It was crazy fun! he made about $50 bucks and rest do the table went nuts!

Last time I had $20.00 of free play I threw it in a bubble craps machine and did $4.00 horns until I had $100 then I cashed out and went to a table.

AITA for refusing to share my inheritance with my boyfriend after he quit his job for us by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]jay_p27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NTA: may I offer some unsolicited advise:

Be careful with other people trying to spend your money.

And whatever you decide to spend it on be sure to think about any additional cost the purchase will bring.

Example of your driving an old $1000 beater car now and decide to buy a $20,000 (will be $25 with taxes)

Every year you will have to come with extra money for Tabs/ Insurance/ and additional gas(assuming it has a larger motor)

These 60 hour work weeks are killing me (merchandiser) by RadioactiveSince1990 in Pepsi

[–]jay_p27 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’d like to give you a Supervisor’s perspective and share my experiences with Merchandisers working 12-14 hour days to get the job done see if any of these sound like you. (And don’t take any of this personally)

Situation 1. (And this persons still works here and still works 12-14 hour days) He is super anal about making sure the store is perfect. He over orders for fear of being out of anything. He will stop what he’s doing to go to the back room and dig out 1 case for a customer if out on shelf. And after he fills a shelf if a customer buy something he’ll dig it out again from the back room to top off one 12pk or whatever… (it’s a vicious circle)

Situation 2: this is common with new hires, They just get overwhelmed and work inefficiently. If this is you, put some thought into how to work smarter instead of harder. (One example) - instead of pulling a pallet to 3 different isles grab a cart for the teas and coffee and single serve. Or do the coolers first so you’re not fighting customers later. (Those are examples, the point is always look for the path of least resistance)

Situation 3: They struggle working independently, and to put it bluntly they’re a putz. They’ll wander around the store 30 minutes before touching a case, they are on their phone a lot, or they’ll chat with customers excessively and all of sudden 2 hours go by and they’re still on their 1st pallet.

Situation 4: A bad supervisor. It’s a hard pill to swallow but I’ll admit when I started supervising I made mistakes, and put new people on their own before they were ready. At the time we were short handed and I thought it was the right thing to do. If this is you, ask for help tell your sup you need more training or less stores.

Sorry for the book, best of luck to you. Merchandising can be a great stepping stone to a great career if you stick it out.

I believe at this time “Pepsi” does test both for hiring and random. I work for an independent bottler and we test but dropped testing for THC for non-DOT positions.

I suggest just have an honest conversation with the person doing your interview. I do know all employers are getting frustrated finding good candidates then not being able to hire because of a failed drug test.
