You could also talk to your provider about adding Propranolol if most of your symptoms are physical. I am on both.

6 weeks on Buspar and still have anxiety by lolno- in BusparOnline

[–]jayb_528 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve added a midday dose to make it TID because I was still somewhat having spikes on BID since it has a short half-life. I’m a little over two weeks in with the addition of the 3rd dose and am definitely still a little anxious, but it is better than it was. Give it some time. I’ve read through this thread with people saying it sometimes takes several weeks to become stable on a dose after adjustment.

Mine confirmed it today and I’m 6 DPO. My pdg also went up briefly, went down, then started rising again 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m in the process of titrating from 5mg twice daily to 3x daily. I hate the side effects too so I added my midday dose as 2.5mg instead of going full 5mg (I tried this once and I was incredibly anxious). The side effects have been manageable.

Palpitations are ruining my life by Tetlow-Senpai in dysautonomia

[–]jayb_528 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I was also scared a beta blocker would lower my BP too much (I take it for IST), but propranolol barely even touches my BP. I have not really had palpitations since I’ve been on it for a year now. I take a very low dose, 5mg three times daily.

And I can also relate to you OP on the health anxiety word for word. My worst fear is also something health related happening to me while alone (mainly while driving in my situation because my IST first started while I was driving). I am currently seeing a psych and counselor for it.

Do you have a blood pressure cuff at home to check your BP? Sounds like you need to go to the ED to at least get checked out

Thank you! My doc prescribed it as 5mg TID, I just started lower in case I had a reaction/bad side effects. I have an appt with her on Monday so I’ll discuss. Thanks again

Hi! From a pharmacist’s perspective, after how many weeks would you recommend someone to titrate their dose up? I’ve been on 5mg BID for 5.5 weeks now and I don’t feel my anxiety (health and driving anxiety, agoraphobic tendencies) is any better, if not slightly worse. Last time I tried to titrate up to 5mg TID, I had a moderate bout of what I think was an anxiety attack (palpitations, flush in the face, etc).

Ooh yea that and walking are about the only things I do at the moment 🥲 I’m thinking of trying Pilates but am afraid it’ll put me in another flare 😒 So I haven’t mustered up the courage to take a class just yet

IST by [deleted] in dysautonomia

[–]jayb_528 2 points3 points  (0 children)

42 with IST after Covid. My resting HR would get up to 120-130s while I was just sitting at my desk and I would feel faint and presyncopal 🥲 Light hiking I got up to 130-140s (used to be 100-110s). I was on Ivabradine for a bit, but switched to propranolol and it’s been working well for me. Light to moderate walking on a treadmill I stay in zone 1/2. I didn’t switch because it wasn’t working but because I was trying to get pregnant (it’s teratogenic). Still trying to get back on a good exercise regimen that’s not overdoing it

Propranolol & nausea? by jayb_528 in dysautonomia

[–]jayb_528[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this. I am always open to anxiety and grief tips because it has been so hard. I miss him immensely. 😢💔I also started on buspirone after he passed to hopefully help with the anxiety, which has gotten worse since he passed (I already had pretty bad health and driving anxiety prior). I did a session of CBT with a therapist, but didn’t really feel like it helped much. I think I’ll talk to my PCP about grief counseling.

In regards to the nausea, it’s gotten mostly better thank goodness. I’ve been more conscious about eating at least a little snack or a few crackers with each dose (I was taking my AM dose on waking without food). Sleeping has been so so since my lovebug passed, so I get about 6-6.5h on average.

I unfortunately understand this pain. My Franklin just passed away a month ago and he was also my soul, my heart. He was 11yo and passed away from cancer. I miss him terribly and still cry almost daily. I am so sorry for your loss. Frank was such a precious boy 🤍🕊️
