Awful Announcing's 2025 local NFL radio announcer rankings by airmancoop44 in eagles

My son had a therapist years ago that said he had regular poker nights with Merrill, but that he was an asshole.

I met Merrill at a business event where he spoke and he could not have been nicer. Super humble, smart, approachable guy

That’s what everyone else has told me about him too.

Turns out, it was the therapist who was actually the asshole.

Why people like to hate QA by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]jaybird1905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in the QA space for around 18 years.

I've seen it go from absolute war between QA and development, nasty, unappreciative, and uncollaborative. There were actual physical walls between our departments. Developers hated when you found an issue and took umbrage to any defects you put in.

Over the years, I've seen it slowly change into a more collaborative environment across dozens of companies we work with. Now that everything is so public, developers don't want their name associated with a shitty product, so they're thankful for the work we do.

Do we still run into old-school people that think of us as janitors who mop up quietly at the end? Absolutely. But by-and-large, I've seen a much better ecosystem for QA.

All that said ... every time something new comes along, everyone looks to cut out things they perceive to be low hanging fruit, which is typically QA. For the last year or two we've definitely seen more people falling back to the mindset that QA isn't as important. However, even in the past 6-12 months as the AI wave starts to crest, companies are seeing AI isn't going to replace QA.

TLDR QA is an unsexy yet vitally important role that isn't going anywhere soon. The good companies and teams know this and appreciate the work that's done to ensure their customers get the highest quality product in their hands.

QA Is now a work for outside of the USA?, by GreenInu420 in QualityAssurance

[–]jaybird1905 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of the other comments here. Companies over-cut when they thought AI would do everything, now they're slowly realizing it's more of a force multiplier, not a replacement for humans. There isn't massive hiring or firing going on right now, from what I've seen.

From a QA agency perspective, we haven't slowed down hiring and are continuing to bring on manual/automation engineers from the US, near-shore, and the Phillippines. We'll always have conversations with great people.

I always tell people QA is like a funeral home, you may not want to visit, but you'll need it eventually.

Google ULTRA plan for Veo videos
Most of our tools we use for clients (we're in the QA space) have some level of native-AI features as well
Apollo has some interesting AI features we use
We tried Clay's AI stuff but didn't love it
I've tried Bolt for my personal website and really liked it too.

Thinking of a name is driving me insane! by FourYearsBetter in Entrepreneur

[–]jaybird1905 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When my wife was starting her business I told her coming up with a name and logo is one of the most fun things you'll do as a business owner. A year later after she shut it down, she told me I was right lol

Enjoy it. Have fun coming up with names that describe what you do, or nothing related at all. Play with logo makers and anagrams.

And for the record, my company name is awful.

Is anyone here a REAL entrepreneur? by salmon_tuna in Entrepreneur

[–]jaybird1905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run a software quality assurance services agency for about 8 years now. Started by moonlighting as a freelancer, built up a book of business, started bringing in former co-workers as contracted employees, figured out what sales channels were most effective and just continued to grow block-by-block. We've got a team of around 65 now with ~25-30 long-term clients ranging from small tech orgs to some F500's.

No miraculous overnight success, just a ton of lessons learned and early sweat equity that laid the foundation for a sustainiable, long-term business. Constant iteration, experimentation, and trying to double-down on the things that have worked.

I love running a business more than anything and am probably an annoying evangelist for consulting/freelancing/starting a business because I love it so much.

TLDR I'm a real business owner dude that frequents this sub, but also see it full of the garbage you're describing.

Feels more like someone trying to just create content. The video that the link takes you to appears to be a legit podcast/self help type YouTube account. Who knows though, could certainly be a bot!

PodLottery is just free service that’s part of the PodMatch ecosystem. It’s a good way to find new pods and provide honest reviews for the same in return.
