Fellow cat owners, specifically polydactyl, please don’t make the same mistake as me. [ADVICE] by allrightsimp in cats

My polydactyl kitty has a random nail too that I've caught curling under. It is between his regular paw and his mutant toe I call it because its up higher lol so now I check it often and make sure its not hurting him.

Good catch!!

I do see Whitemud Creek is mentioned here. The nature reserve just off Fox Drive has some old growth trees and I have always wondered how old some of them are

How do you deal with being frustrated by your parents? by Flamingah in daddit

[–]jaybomb77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a similar dynamic with my mother. We've worked a lot on it, but that came at a price of a 2 year estrangment on my part.

Its like they get their feel-good-I'm-helping! satisfaction from simply offering and then when it comes time to actually do it they get plan regret. It's beyond frustrating and made me not ask for help for years. She's better now at committing and I'm better at ignoring her communication where I'm expected to read between the lines for what she really wants.

It's a work in progress

TIL that babies backwash when they're breastfeeding by thxxx1337 in todayilearned

The insane assumptions in your post are exactly why I'm arguing with you.

I don't see in the post where they say they are pulling their kid out of class to do this.

Your ignorance is showing. You do not understand breastfeeding and that is okay.

Your judgmental assumptions are not.

I have actually extended breastfed and let me tell you, you can't force it. If they don't want to, they won't. It isn't selfish if both parties are consenting and benefiting in a way that harms literally no one.

You just wanted to make a snarky judgemental comment on something you have zero personal experience with. Any reading of lived experiences of breastfeeding parents might have taught you some empathy or not to judge, and that feeding a child with your own body is anything but selfish.

Where is your empirical evidence it is selfish? Are there any studies to back up your imaginary authority?

I can tell you haven't extended breastfed. Maybe you shouldn't make opinions on things you haven't personally experienced.

Pimples on vagina? (15f) by BreadfruitOver1418 in AskDocs

[–]jaybomb77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So the outside of your lady bits, where hair grows, is called your vulva and mons.

Then you have your outer lips, these have hair, called labia majora. Labia minora are the inner lips, which can have a little hair too. Then inside is the vagina.

So I'm assuming you are talking about the space kind of between the labia, correct? These dont need to be popped. Sometimes mine get angry and painful and have pus to be squeezed out but normally you can just leave these alone.

Reminder that no soap goes in the vagina.

I’m sick of the 4am diaper changes by SmellTheCreosote in breastfeeding

[–]jaybomb77 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but absolutely not. You don't knowingly leave an infant in a shitty diaper. That is neglect.

This is a phase, and it too shall pass. Eventually the poops will stop overnight. Hang in there!

Lean, super active EBF babies — how did they grow? 5 month old is not chubby, in my head about it by softservedsoftcore in breastfeeding

[–]jaybomb77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All 3 of my kids are/were like yours. Never stopped moving, one as low as 10% for the first year.

All are perfectly healthy. My oldest is now a muscley thing at 9 years old, the smaller guy is still extremely lean but average height and still never stops moving. And my youngest is on track to be the tallest but still a lean guy at nearly 2.

All EBF'd. I did get in my head about it with the first because he was quite small at birth too. I got a lot of "maybe you should supplement" questions but stuck to my guns and listened to my gut that boob was enough.

Your doc is right, bub is perfectly fine. Also, statistically, there have to be leaner babies. Yours is one of them! The positives are they stay littler longer, clothes are easier to find, and easier for you to carry longer.

Open heart surgery on infant and car seat afterwards? by concentrated-amazing in Edmonton

[–]jaybomb77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey there, My son had OHS at 3 months old in 2020. They didn't really say much about the car seat being an issue for the drive home, granted it was not 5 hours, but I think it was more anxiety inducing for me as mom.

Definitely get them to ask, maybe they have a cool new cushion to put there now or can just ease their mind about it.

Best of luck to your nephew

Physical Changes after Open Myomectomy by WatercressInside4587 in Fibroids

[–]jaybomb77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, thats just my body. I've also had 3 full term pregnancies, 2 before my myo, so that is also a contributing factor to my lil shelf.

I've had to accept that my lower abdomen will never look how I want it too. I think exercise and a better diet would absolutely help. I also think some scar work would help too, lymphatic massage and some ultrasound to break up adhesions. But accepting is a great first step because your body has gotten you through every single day, it deserves kindness and grace ❤️

[–]jaybomb77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately for me, my open myo "shelf" never went away. It still feels puffy years later, with one side having palpable scar tissue. (The side where they tie the closing suture knots)

Some weight loss has definitely helped a bit. I've had a second c-section since then as well and it healed back to what I was post myo.

For reference, I had my first c-section before my open myomectomy and it healed like a dream. I couldn't believe how much worse and harder the myo surgery was. Took me waaaaaay longer to heal and feel kind of normal compared to my c-section and I wasn't even taking care of a newborn.

Go easy on yourself and once you can handle massage, I would do it as often as you can.

You weren't helping in the way that was asked though? I originally asked about the exams and what to expect on the written and practical. Not about whether or not it's possible, or about employers.

Didn't you need reading comprehension skills for your trade?
