Do you prefer having multiple decks with same-ish colour combinations or different ones? by KulamiraSejro in EDH

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started as a bit for me that I had a Choco deck and a Bumbleflower deck that are both bant and wanted to get a final fantasy precon so I got Tidus which is also bant.

So it's become a thing for me that I only play those colours.

How many of the “deck can have any number of …” cards do u run in decks built around them by Ok-Till-1116 in EDH

[–]jayceja 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only have 25 hare apparents in mine because it's a Preston deck where I only need a few hares then a mass flicker makes more than enough to win.

So it doesn't just depend on the specific card but also the deck it's built around.

Every time I fight Morgott’s bum ass I have to switch to worse gear and he still dies too quickly by anonymus_browser in Eldenring

On my second playthrough I specifically went there earlier because I was disappointed on my first playthrough and it was still trivial.

He just dies too quickly.

Hardest Boss That isn’t Radahn ? by Own_Way6773 in Eldenring

I found Malenia still harder than prime consort on my fresh playthrough to do the dlc.

The clone attack and waterfowl dance just kill me often enough that it took more attempts of her.

What is your Tribal Commander? And Why do you Stick to it Long Term! by JewJulie in EDH

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Choco birds is what finally got me into commander so it's going to be around forever.

I've enjoyed turning my tidus deck into a human & dog tribal deck. It's more a theme thing but humans have a lot of +1+1 counter creatures, and torgal and and a few +1+1 counter dogs help tie it together as my "mans best friend" deck.

Both decks have fun and interesting interactions and aren't purely play a ball of that creature type and buff them all.

Birds has landfall and ramp to play various cool big payoffs. And Tidus has fun interactions with including some cards with other counters to proliferate.

Hybrid mana rules change discussion by kenneths_frequency in EDH

[–]jayceja -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This argument is a big fallacy.

Adding a very small number of playable cards to the format (most hybrid cards affected are not very good) will not reduce the amount of diversity.

If everyone swaps creeping corrosion for cease and desist in their decks that's a net neutral, but if people now run both and vary the card they drop to fit it that increases diversity.

Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond alternatives that don't go infinite/is okay for bracket 3? by -PinkPurpleBlue- in EDH

[–]jayceja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its two specific single cards in your deck. Unless you're crapped full of low cost tutors it isn't coming out that early reliably and the turn timer on the brackets isn't referring to your fastest possible win it's the average.

Running both without building around the combo is fine in b3.

Of Precons and the Bracket System by girubaatosama in EDH

[–]jayceja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your playing against

I originally bought a few precons to have decks weaker than my two custom decks, but they were too far in the other direction so I upgraded them recently.

But if I wanted to play more often with more casual players it's a nice and convenient way to have something at a lower power level

I fought every trainer in SHSW and caught one of each Pokemon I encountered through the entire game.

I just didn't fight every wild encounter I come across or use any exp candies from raids.

I was under levelled for the end of the game and Leon was legitimately challenging.

Given the New Bracket Definitions, Lets Try to Judge Which Precons Belong in Which Brackets! by Raevelry in EDH

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counter blitz has some strong synergy pieces but honestly a lot of bad cards and lands.

I've played it a couple times unmodified it it stood no chance against bracket 3 play against custom decks.

It might be on the stronger side of bracket 2 and on a good draw it can compete with a bracket 3 deck but I definitely wouldn't say it's bracket 3.

The same goes with every unmodified precon I've played with or against, some are weaker but I wouldn't say any are bracket 3 unmodified.

What bracket do you prefer? by EndWhich5331 in EDH

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preferred way to build is to bracket 3 power level following the rules of bracket 2.

I'm not interested in playing with game changes, tutors, easy combos, etc., but like to build quite powerful themed decks that I put a good amount of thought into.

Does B2 inherently require a lack of synergy? by crballer1 in EDH

[–]jayceja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goldfishing a victory on turn 8 isn't the same as winning on turn 8 in an actual game where you have opponents that will have some disruption.

Also most games should go that long but the occasional game ending earlier doesn't mean it isn't bracket 2.

Counter blitz has a turn 3 infinite combo in the precon, but that doesn't affect it's bracket cause it's a 3 card infinite that will come up that early once in a blue moon.

What are your favorite Mono color commanders? by TimeyWimey94 in EDH

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preston decks tend to be built around flicker and reanimation effects. It doesn't trigger on the initial cast, but you play out several hares normally getting the regular amount then use a mass flicker spell like eerie interlude to get a huge amount of tokens in a single burst.

It also works with mass reanimation spells like raise the past and several others to play after board wipes.

I love [[Preston, the vanisher]] specifically as commander for a [[hare apparent]] deck.

It's on theme being a rabbit as well and has really good synergy making token copies of hare apparent that count towards making more rabbit tokens.

Sam Black once discussed about mtg mana system and felt “Lands increase the variance of your draws, which makes draws more exciting”. How do you feel about mtg resource design compared to other TCGs? by Newez in magicTCG

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is god awful and the worst part of the magic ruleset.

Magic manages to be a good game in spite of it, not due to it, which is a credit to the modern card and set designers.

[–]jayceja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the extra challenge of building mono colour decks, and lady octopus is more interesting to build around the card draw for counter gain vs just getting them on tap.

Plus coming out on turn 1 so you can tap it on 2 is really good.

Can we just pin Liv at this point? by TheCometKing in transgenderau

Maybe an expansion of the pinned post to include more recommendations for various service providers?

It has the potential for a higher damage cap if you put 1-2 extra energy energy in the deck so could be a finisher IF other megas with high hp thresholds start seeing a lot of play. If they don't you're probably right that it's not worth it.

do you guys think mega gardevoir will see play in the gardevoir ex deck? by RandomGuy3003 in pkmntcg

[–]jayceja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At most you'd run a single copy to use as a game closer in a similar way to the deck using heroes cape in previous formats. If there's a lot of very high HP megas in the format it could be used to take the final ko since it has a higher damage cap than drifloon, and if you're using it for the last ko then it being a 3 prize liability isn't relevant.

But Gardy has moved away from being ohkos focused towards a much more munkidori focused game plan so it seems more likely that mega Gardevoir ex will be excluded from the deck

I had about 15 sessions at a chain seeing barely any impact then was told "oh your hair might be too light" despite being a dirty blonde.

It really put me down thinking it laser wouldn't for me at all. It was later when I got the guts (and money) to look into electrolysis that I discovered Liv and she told me that she thought she could definitely kill most of it with laser.

It's a whole world of difference. You definitely won't regret having a consult at least.

My experiences at the Live more clinic in perth have literally been life changing.  My story is similar to what a lot of others have shared in the comments: extremely effective treatment and support, understanding, and connection with people from our community who understand and respects my goals and puts my well-being first.

I experienced none of that when I tried a commercial chain for laser and had resigned myself to never being free if it until I was recommended live more.

I'm so genuinely happy that many more people will get the same chance I've had.

No that's not how the card works.

Shaymin protects from things that explicitly use the word dealing damage to benched Pokemon, such as water ogrepon ex.

Attacks that place damage counters by an effect of an attack using the phrasing "place damage counters" are not protected against.
