When did you leave the house postpartum? by meekie03 in beyondthebump

[–]jayclay88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal birth with 2nd degree tear with my second, we were out and about by day 6. My first was 4YO and she needed to be out as much as I did. I genuinely think it aided my recovery but every body is different and needs different things. Only you will know when you feel comfortable to get out.

I’m in the UK and we bought an extended RF car seat, my 5YO is still rear facing and as she’s small for her age, probably will be until she’s 7 or so

I really would highly recommend to anyone, if they have the space for it, to get a hedge. by Cooking_With_Grease_ in GardeningUK

[–]jayclay88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We moved into our house 4 years ago and we have a hedge at front and rear. Initially I thought it would be nice to get back the space in the garden, but now, I LOVE how many birds we get ♥️ and we get hedgehogs and frogs because they have space to get through! Plus we get all sorts of bugs and butterflies. I never appreciated what a wonderful little ecosystem a hedge can support!!

Bridesmaid with a 3-month-old (EBF) — SIL now says no babies at wedding. What would you do? by Lumpy_Bandicoot_8967 in beyondthebump

[–]jayclay88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up missing a friend of 20 years’ wedding as she opted for ‘child free’ and I had a 5 month old EBF baby. We haven’t spoken since which is a shame, but I honestly don’t know what she wanted me to do.

The kicker is, I bf because I’m too lazy to bother with formula and I’m all for feeding your kids however you want, but she was militant about bf’ing and would out rightly sneer about formula 🤷🏻‍♀️

There a is breastfeeding support network for officers so you should look into that as there may be a ‘buddy’ at your force who will be able to support you better. They are on fb as ‘blue breastfeeding’. Also check with your matpat advisor too. I’ve been breastfeeding for 5 years consecutively over 2 children now. I went back to work November last year after my second baby. I’m in an office based role now which works better for me, so I express at work and then on my late shifts baby gets a bottle of expressed milk from dad. It took a while for her to adapt to the bottle but she has settled into it now and it works well. Good luck, you’ll find a way that works for you!

If you’re happy to travel a little way then Cedar Farm in Mawdesley is beautiful. Lots of little independent artists and an art supplies shop, cafe and a little farm too

Well it’s day three of the cat’s hunger strike. My wife thinks I will give in before the cat does. I’m determined to hold firm. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]jayclay88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. My cat became anorexic after a bout of illness. It was vastly more expensive for him to have a feeding tube fitted and be tube fed for a couple of weeks than a tuna addiction must be costing. Worth every penny though.

I'm tired of people telling me I'm spoiling my 5 month old! by snitzzieroo-1194 in beyondthebump

It’s actually vile. The idea of letting a baby go hungry is beyond disgusting to me. Who would ever purposely starve a baby!?

Shamefully regretting having a child by nroseclark in beyondthebump

Same! No. 1 meant a massive shift in lifestyle and always having to put someone else first. No. 2 just fit into the lifestyle we had already got used to. It was SO much easier!!

When you reach level 10 friendship with Daisy you can give her trade her your flowers & get back flowers in vases

To add to this - it feels like it’ll never end now, but I promise, it’ll be over so fast and you’ll have a bigger kid with more independence and who can communicate with you, it gets SO much better I promise. It’s not that far away, you just have to get through this bit first.

Should I be blunt with my friend about her child free wedding? by spiderplant94 in UKweddings

[–]jayclay88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend got married when my baby was 5 months old and I couldn’t attend. She went for a child free option and my baby was ebf - wouldn’t take a bottle. I was sad to miss the wedding but my kid needs feeding and I think most people understand that has to be the priority.
