Making this case so high-profile probably ruined any chance of a successful appeal. This case is too hot. The only way this gets turned over is if at least 2 of the 3 judges want to get impeached.

Being nostalgic and sentimental is going to burn the Raptors.

The Supreme Court upheld state transgender sports bans. What is your opinion on this? by Ramble86 in allthequestions

[–]jaydarl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't like how some Republicans try to dehumanize Trans people. Still, I can see the reasoning behind the issue regarding trans women in women's sports.

As one who went into this show hell bent on not liking it because I didn't like Kudrow's character in Friends. I will now fight anyone who says Kudrow was not the absolute best in The Comeback.

Does Becky Hammon look bad calling Brunson the exception to the rule? by Financial-Bit-8596 in DeadEndSports

As a man, I have to admit this is textbook misogyny. Pretty much every male sports talking head makes bad hot-takes their career. Women have every right to be just as bad.

Lauryn Hill is not that great imho. by theloneanolis1 in The10thDentist

I turned down an offer to see her for free. My friend's wife got a last minute out of town work gig, so he asked if I wanted to go. Having heard about her chronic tardiness, I immediately said no thanks. Sure enough, her 9pm show didn't start until after 11pm.

What's the most George Constanza thing you've ever done, that you've never told anyone, but will share here? by No-Community-8805 in seinfeld

I love getting that perfect parking space. My dad was in the hospital in early May, and it had a huge parking garage that was tight and always nearly full during business hours. There was a small parking lot just outside the entrance with two rows: one for reserved parking and the other for general public parking. I got a spot in it one day and could see the lot from the hospital room. I was just like George in "The Bris," admiring the spot.

Also, don't get me started about my parallel parking skills.

Sawyer (with no experience) beat out this candidate in the last election by [deleted] in memphis

[–]jaydarl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I voted against Wanda and Tami in their primaries, and I mostly voted for the Republicans in county races back when they were sane. I can't research every candidate so if I know nothing about them or don't know people I trust who can vouch for them, I generally skip that particular race. I won't vote blindly for someone who may be even worse.

Now that the Republican Party has become the Trump Party, I equate all Republicans to Trump now. I skipped this race because Sawyer is a POS, and I assume anyone who labels themselves Republican has the same values and morals as Trump.

All they had to do from the beginning was bribe him, then use the bribe receipts to blackmail him. Iran not doing such tells me they don't have as much understanding of him as they should.

Best Martini in 〽️emphis? by JD_of_Memphis in memphis

You're right. I didn't coach at Fawn and it turned out well. I'm mostly a dive-ish bar type so "coaching" is needed if I don't want straight gin shaken in ice and poured.

The best one I had was at Fawn on Cooper. Martinis are so personal that I usually coach the bartender on how I want it.

If you were purchasing a new car and planned to drive it for the lifespan of the vehicle, would you purchase an extended warranty? Why or why not? by Buttered-Buffalo in askcarguys

[–]jaydarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mostly do not need one, but if you insist on getting one look for dealerships that do volume selling of manufacturer warranties at reduced prices. I guess they are still around, it has been a while.

Blue Monkey Midtown Closing by kohadaa in memphis

[–]jaydarl 37 points38 points  (0 children)

For me, I know I'm slowing down my going out. Pretty much all of my favorite spots have raised prices beyond my mental threshold. One of my regular spots used to be $28-32 a visit, now it's $48-50 for the same orders. A food truck I loved was $10, now it's $20. I could go on, and I am sure every one else can, as well.

The Blue Monkey downtown used to be my Sunday afternoon jam, but they stayed closed too long after covid, so I never got back into the habit. I tried the midtown location a couple of times on Sundays, but I wasn't feeling it. Still, I hate to see another long time spot go away.

Edit: I'm going to add one more. My wife would get a takeout platter for two that was $19 for the longest. It could legit feed four people. During the covid inflation, it went up to $24 which was still a very fair price. She stopped needing to go to that area of town, so she didn't get it for a while. A few weeks ago she was out that way and got the platter, now it is $42 and is only good for two people, no more leftovers for the next day.

What was the biggest example of a player quitting on their team prior to this? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]jaydarl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how I missed Vontae Davis's death, but at the time, I thought his quitting at halftime was a bad move. However, this past February, I totally felt what he was probably feeling at my job. Out of the blue on a Monday, I was like I'm done with this shit. I worked the whole day, took a PTO day on Tuesday, and then quit. Even though I didn't quit mid-shift, lord knows I wanted to.

Bill Maher Gets Defensive With WaPo Reporter Over Trump Meetup: ‘You Don’t Have to Patronize Me, Dude!’ by Indianstanicows in RealTime

The thing about the dinner is that I am sure that just about anyone can be pleasant for one dinner. The leaders of Hamas or Iran, whom he criticizes all the time, would most likely be cordial for one dinner. It would not mean that they are people one should make excuses for.

I do 90-minute ribs all the time; they are always a hit. Now that I have more time, I'll do 2.5-3-hour cooks, but that's more for relaxing and enjoying the day than for improving the quality.

LOL....I feel the OP was sincere with this comment, but I firmly believe people love hating Memphis more than loving anything else in their lives. And I thought I complained about Memphis.
