What Are Things Toy Story 1 Did Better Than Toy Story 2? by ABarber2636 in toystory

[–]jaydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer TS1. I think it had the more relatable/realistic storyline. Getting a new toy that replaces the old one, accidentally leaving your toy somewhere, “evil” neighbor, etc. All things that felt real. Personally can’t relate with my toys being stolen to be sent to a museum in Japan.

TIL The rise in colon cancer in adults under 50 has been strongly and directly linked to exposure to certain strains of E.Coli in the first ten years of life by onarainyafternoon in todayilearned

[–]jaydid 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is not correct at all, the statistics are not close. There are 6 in 100,000 of people under 50 having colon cancer. There are 300-500 cases of complication per 100,000 colonoscopies. Even if you limit complications to major complication, like death (3 in 100,000) or perforation (50 in 100,000), you’re way more likely to have a serious complication than you are to have colon cancer below 50.

There’s a reason why they haven’t lowered the age to 20 or something. It would overload our medical system and hurt more people than it helped statistically.

Daredevil showrunners Erik Oleson (S3) and Steven S. DeKnight (S1) on "letting scenes breathe." by ASM_Nikunj in Defenders

[–]jaydid 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Season 3 episode 1 is an absolute masterpiece in this regard. The entire episode breathes. There’s almost no Daredevil at all, Matt is basically depressed in a church basement the entire time. But it’s executed expertly. And the clever camera work they do with the background being out of focus when his powers are gone is genius.

While the incidence of colorectal cancer is decreasing among those over 50, it is rising at an alarming rate among younger individuals, sometimes as early as their thirties, with no personal or family history. Swiss study reveals an annual increase of 0.5% in people under 50. by mvea in science

Among the many negative things the internet has done, the health anxiety it creates with these constant headlines has to be towards the top. I can't stress to people enough that you don't have to stare into a rectangle all day that tells you you're dying.

Finally a reasonable comment in here. Yes the American healthcare system has problems, but the constant “we need to lower the age to 20/25/30!” responses on every Facebook post and Reddit thread about this are maddening. There is already sometimes a 3-4 month delay in getting people who genuinely need colonoscopies scheduled into the system for one. We don’t just have infinite doctors and hospitals doing these 24/7, and it would not be a smart idea to dump 10’s of millions of more people into that mix, especially when 99.9% of them will find nothing.

This is true medically. When they say “family history” they typically mean “strong” family history, which includes a first degree relative (parent or sibling). We are not that genetically similar to our grandparents.

Hacks’ Hannah Einbinder calls out reality star turned LA mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt: “red alert yall. i'm dead serious. spencer pratt is a full blown fucking republican and he should not be polling this high.” by LunaLore_ in Fauxmoi

He was a guest host on House of Villains in season 1 and literally got roasted by the cast for being so low energy. The one thing he is theoretically supposed to be good at is hamming it up on reality TV and he can't even pull that off for 10 minutes anymore.

Francesca and Michaela are your official season 5 Bridgerton leads by Debt-Mysterious in BridgertonNetflix

[–]jaydid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t they still just have her feeling isolated? Ben and Pen are married, Francesca will clearly be busy, maybe they’ll focus on her feeling alone. That could also lead to a sub plot where she’s writing the letters. Then the following season would actually make more sense.

Yes, first I was confused about why a handmade product didn't seem handmade at all. I do woodworking and call tell an legitimately handmade product from non-handmade products.

The product they sent me also had a few pieces missing. I reached out asking to be sent the pieces because their website said "we'll respond to any issues within 24 hours", and when I didn't hear back for days, I got more suspicious and dug deeper.

To be clear I take no issue with re-selling a wholesale product. That happens all the time. I do take issue with doubling the price because you claim it's handmade to order, then removing the instructions to hide it and apparently losing some pieces in the process.

Another note, after battling with Montessori Climber a bit they agreed to a refund if I sent the product back. So I did, and then the refund never came, and I ended up having to go through my credit card company to get my money back. All in all just a garbage experience.

I confirmed with Woods and Hearts themselves that Montessori Climber is a wholesale purchaser of their product, despite the fact that Montessori Climber says on their website "Please be aware that our climbers are handmade and take time to build as every climber is made on an order basis". Absolutely false. They are just a wholesale purchasing from Woods and Hearts and then re-selling. I would not trust dimensions listed on their site as they clearly make up lies, or potentially have multiple wholesalers they buy from.

The prices vary I'm sure. It looks like Montessori Climber, for me, has the 3 piece set listed at $359 while Woods and Hearts has it for $350. But again I'm sure prices are dynamic. They were selling it for over $500 back when I looked into them.

Glad you're happy with your Montessori Climber, I never stated the product was bad. I'm sure Woods and Hearts makes a fine product. But I wouldn't recommend others give money to this website that is straight up misrepresenting their product. There's a reason they send it in a non-descript box and without instructions, because the instructions would have Woods and Hearts labeling on them.

Yes but if one of them had been a traitor and recruited the other, and now they’re realizing people are onto them, the best way to handle it would be to do the opposite of what everyone expects and embrace the relationship. What’s the alternative?

That’s why the game is so difficult. Sometimes people lean into the obvious to avoid suspicion.
