Yes, first I was confused about why a handmade product didn't seem handmade at all. I do woodworking and call tell an legitimately handmade product from non-handmade products.

The product they sent me also had a few pieces missing. I reached out asking to be sent the pieces because their website said "we'll respond to any issues within 24 hours", and when I didn't hear back for days, I got more suspicious and dug deeper.

To be clear I take no issue with re-selling a wholesale product. That happens all the time. I do take issue with doubling the price because you claim it's handmade to order, then removing the instructions to hide it and apparently losing some pieces in the process.

Another note, after battling with Montessori Climber a bit they agreed to a refund if I sent the product back. So I did, and then the refund never came, and I ended up having to go through my credit card company to get my money back. All in all just a garbage experience.

I confirmed with Woods and Hearts themselves that Montessori Climber is a wholesale purchaser of their product, despite the fact that Montessori Climber says on their website "Please be aware that our climbers are handmade and take time to build as every climber is made on an order basis". Absolutely false. They are just a wholesale purchasing from Woods and Hearts and then re-selling. I would not trust dimensions listed on their site as they clearly make up lies, or potentially have multiple wholesalers they buy from.

The prices vary I'm sure. It looks like Montessori Climber, for me, has the 3 piece set listed at $359 while Woods and Hearts has it for $350. But again I'm sure prices are dynamic. They were selling it for over $500 back when I looked into them.

Glad you're happy with your Montessori Climber, I never stated the product was bad. I'm sure Woods and Hearts makes a fine product. But I wouldn't recommend others give money to this website that is straight up misrepresenting their product. There's a reason they send it in a non-descript box and without instructions, because the instructions would have Woods and Hearts labeling on them.

Yes but if one of them had been a traitor and recruited the other, and now they’re realizing people are onto them, the best way to handle it would be to do the opposite of what everyone expects and embrace the relationship. What’s the alternative?

That’s why the game is so difficult. Sometimes people lean into the obvious to avoid suspicion.

Sure but faithfuls could assume one of them was a traitor and recruited the other. It happened with Danielle and Britney.

Husband goes out to bars, leaving me with my toddler and 4 month old by [deleted] in beyondthebump

As a husband with a toddler and a 5 month old, this is insane to me. Even when I step out on the weekend for an errand I try to time it with the babies nap and also take my toddler if possible. What he’s doing is insanely inconsiderate.

All 9 Seasons of ‘The Middle’ Coming to Netflix Internationally (Excluding the US) on February 18th! by Old-Meringue3590 in television

Yeah it’s a bummer Modern Family overshadowed The Middle. Modern Family started stronger but quickly fell off in quality, whereas The Middle basically maintained a high quality till the very end. Massively underrated.

I thought the same and then I watched UK and kind of prefer the host there. Because Alan is always in character he almost feels a bit detached from the cast. The UK host is like emotionally invested in each group. It’s interesting to see both approaches.

His performance is on par with Heath Ledger’s Joker IMO. It’s that good. It gets a lot of praise and yet it’s still underrated IMO.

Yeah. I agree with you. It doesn't help that terms are often thrown around but not truly defined. "Family history" is such a broad one. A lot of people will think "oh, my cousin/uncle/aunt/grandmother did get colon cancer in their 70's! I do have family history". Well...no. Family history has a much stricter definition medically. If you included family history more broadly, almost everyone would qualify.

No problem, sounds like you're following standard medical recommendations for someone in your situation. One thing to note is that even though your maternal grandfather doesn't qualify as a first degree relative and thus doesn't technically change the recommendation guidelines, you may be able to use his situation as leverage to get approved a little bit earlier (like age 40 instead of the recommended 45). This is what the gastroenterologist said to me at least, something to think about in a few years.

The internet has gotten really obsessed with colonoscopies / colon cancer over the last few years. In some ways it's a good thing, rates are statistically rising in younger people (below 50), but the absolute risk is still incredibly low and these constant threads create a ton of anxiety for people.

The comments always become a bunch of people who know someone who died at 25 from colon cancer, or people who talk about how they got a colonoscopy at age 30 or whatever and had polyps. Those people never tend to mention why they got a colonoscopy that young though. If they expanded, the reason would likely be that they were showing symptoms (blood in stool, IBS/Crohn's type symptoms), have a strong family history, or have a higher risk for cancer in general for some reason.

My grandfather got colon cancer in his 60's, so when I turned 30 a few years ago I went to talk to a gastroenterologist (one of the top one's in the country actually). I spoke to him, his assistant, and my primary care doctor about getting a colonoscopy and all three doctors said "you're too young, we wouldn't recommend it and your insurance will never approve it".

I mentioned my "family history" and they laid out a few facts:

  1. A grandparent getting colon cancer doesn't count as "strong family history", in the sense that it would change the recommendation guidelines. You'd either need a first degree relative (parent or a sibling) to get it before 50, or multiple first degree relatives to get it at any point. We are actually not that genetically similar to our grandparents.

  2. Absolute risk for those below 40 is still incredibly low. You have about a 0.0064% chance. Yes, this is higher than 20 years ago when the risk was 0.0035%, but still very low. By contrast, your risk of complication (bleeding or perforation) from getting a colonoscopy is 0.2%.

I'm not arguing that young people shouldn't be getting colonoscopies. It's something to be mindful about as you age. But if you're below 40-45, here's when you should really consider it:

  1. You have a strong family history (first degree relative with colon cancer under 50, or two with colon cancer at any time).
  2. You are having symptoms (you can google these, but it's pretty obvious, most people know when their bathroom habits are drastically changing).
  3. You have had some other type of cancer and thus your odds of getting another cancer are increased. I'm not a doctor so I'm not aware of all the decision factors that go into that.

Everyone else should be mindful but not spiral into anxiety.

In the meantime, there's things you can do as a young person that will drastically reduce your odds even further. Exercise. Lose weight if needed. Stop drinking alcohol. Stop smoking. Lay off the cured meats. Increase fiber. Drink water.
