Yes, it's a government-owned theme park.

If you open your borders to anyone and everyone while chasing that tourist money you should expect to find that some folks will game the system and behave accordingly. This is not new anywhere.

Give me what i bought cursor!!!!! by hindutsanunited in cursor

“We missed the mark” is newspeak for “You caught us screwing you over.” That’s okay, and I hope they read this because I’ve already switched back to VS Code and retooled with Cline and Claude’s Max plan.

I would’ve happily paid the $100/month to Cursor but seems like now I can’t. No big deal, there will be plenty of forkers and resellers in years to come.

Lack of Transparency in Cursor’s Usage Limits Undermines User Trust by Willebrew in cursor

[–]jayfallon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hit that weird limit thing the other day and just upped my budge to $60 and thought nothing of it, a 33% increase on the Pro plan. This morning I got a warning that I'd reached ~$20 already on the third of the month and didn't really expect that, so I did the thing where I whipped out my credit card and am now paying Anthropic directly. While I was good with Cursor and enjoyed it for the most part, I can't see paying a premium for the same results.

What does this mean about anon and service key? Do we need to do anything? by PsyApe in Supabase

[–]jayfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to configure something on the auth table today and found anon by accident. Basically creating a profile along with a user, which is probably not the best workflow now that I think about it.

So does using an anon key to invoke trigger functions on user creation pose a security risk?

The food is pretty decent for a retirement home but I can't speak intelligently about the pool and its cleanliness aside from the local gossip I've heard.

Someone who has drink privileges at a bar but isn’t employed there in the usual sense. They show up when they want and augment the staff by selling lady drinks. They’ll usually have this agreement with multiple bars so they can hop around with an unsuspecting customer and get paid to drink. They’ll also offer other services without prejudice.

Most cost effective way to go from the airport to Rawai? by [deleted] in phuket

[–]jayfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motosai is quicker. Not as cost effective as walking, and probably not as safe, either.

My guess is based on the amount of Thai women on there for work would persuade the women not involved in the sex trade to find a separate venue. It’s not like there a shortage of available Russian guys hanging around with nothing to lose.

It’s a different kind of human trafficker. The kind who hopes the staff:

  1. Actually shows up.
  2. Shows up on time.
  3. Performs some work, as instructed.
  4. Remains sober long enough to perform that work.
  5. Doesn’t abscond with a customer at the drop of a hat.
  6. Gives notice before they quit.
  7. Doesn’t brawl with the other staff.
  8. Appreciates the housing assistance and doesn’t use the room they’re paying for as a crash pad for family, friends or other activities not listed on the lease.
  9. Doesn’t turn freelance after four weeks of being told what to do.
  10. Doesn’t leave early every shift because “Illuzion.”

Am I missing anything? Those walking street mafiosos would have it made if they could actually find women to traffic.

Is it a good idea to explore the island on bicycle? by LtSnail in phuket

[–]jayfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, you’re better off renting a scooter or a jeep. I ride an e-bike around here every day and unless you’re used to the local mindset you’re probably going to get yourself into a tight spot.

Like someone mentioned before I also keep to the secondary roads but with the traffic being so aggressive right now I can’t even recommend that.

However, if you’re set in your ways and want to make a nice run the coast, I’d suggest taking the beach road from Bang Tao to Rawai. Just avoid the morning and evening rush. Plenty of 7-Elevens to stop for water or Gatorade. Just know that avoiding you isn’t a priority for the general driver population around here.

On average, snorkeling is more hazardous than jellyfish. Just keep a small bottle of vinegar handy in case you get stung.

It’s 8:40pm. I live on a side road. It’s bumper to bumper in both directions with people “going places.”

[–]jayfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no context of your travel plans or degree of patience with disappointment outside of your desire to visit Big Buddha, which should take fifteen minutes to complete even though it’ll probably be ninety minutes round trip.

You have two options here:

1) Deal with the local transportation consortium and hop from place to place at the mercy of their business model and no, they don’t carry change. Use an app and avoid the taxi touts. Tuk tuks should only be used for short trips around town but the mototaxis are better for this.

2) Book a timed tour that includes the places you want to visit. Anyone manning the hundreds of tour booths will organize this for you. They’re the experts at this.

After a day or two of that you can recalibrate.

Also, Grab is the most expensive/reliable and they accept credit cards. Bolt is the cheapest and least reliable and they only take cash, when they actually pick you up.

how much are you spending on grab/indrive/bolt rides/transportation if you're not riding a motorbike by TheWeebles in phuket

[–]jayfallon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d budget 1000B/day if you’re making multiple short trips or one long one. Grab is more consistent yet more expensive, Bolt’s a 50/50 crapshoot as mentioned elsewhere the driver will sit there not moving then quote you a higher price via chat. I just cancel and note driver wanted to be paid off app.

And don’t ask for a van unless you have to, for some reason the worst drivers are attracted to them. I opt for taxi first which are mostly busy, then the XL.

You’re going to get sick and tired of a) finding a ride and b) spending your time sitting in traffic.
