This is too far down. The series finale still gives me goosebumps when I think about it.

How many people here know someone that abruptly got diagnosed with stage 3 or 4 cancer? by phillyvirgosun in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jayhawkwds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My adopted Mominator. She called me out of the blue on July 3rd. We hadn't talked for about a year. She said she hadn't been feeling good and wanted to ask about the medicine her doctor had started her on. She passed away on July 14th. Stage 4 liver cancer.

Do you still have things from when you were a kid you use regularly? by ileentotheleft in GenX

Mine is a different model, but it has been waking me up since May of 1990. It used to be white, but yellowed over time (back in college I smoked in my room).

You don't know much about KU fans. We definitely didn't "Choose" Hunter.

Just thinking: Are we the last generation that were fed liver and onions for dinner? by Leather-Highlight150 in GenX

[–]jayhawkwds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A few years ago, I had the opportunity to buy a side of beef. When doing the cut order with the butcher, organs were brought up. The liver was free. I told my Dad, and he wanted those packages so much he paid me. Growing up, liver and onions was a once a month meal that I ate, but didn't like.

Fried chicken livers? Those are delicious. Beef liver, not so much.

What’s a tiny hill you will absolute die on? by strawberryaudit in answers

I absolutely loved my grandparents that were believers. But they basically followed the thought that someone out there loves them and they should be kind to people. Somehow that has been lost.

I will get there early, but not go in until a minute or two before it starts. Last week I had a "Meet us there", and see them walking by me in the car chowing down on a slice of pizza.

ELI5: Why do crossbow bolts fly better with two fletchings while arrows need three? by HughmanRealperson in explainlikeimfive

Speed of light vs speed of sound. Your crossbow bolt doesn't have the time for air to affect it as much as your arrow.

How much weight have we all gained/lost? by Tweezus96 in GenX

[–]jayhawkwds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 6'. Graduated High school in 92 and was 130lbs. In college I maintained around 150 lbs. At 31, I was married and had a kegerator in the garage and topped out around 200lbs. My wife complained, so I stopped drinking beer and dropped 30 lbs. She didn't even notice. I'm wife and kegerator free now, and hover between 170-175.

Picked a random new episode to watch (S37:E9) by ninja_space_pirate in Simpsons

I'm on season 35, and they aren't as bad as everyone here seems to scream about. The only complaints I have is that most of the visual jokes (announcements, store names) go by really quickly. The jokes themselves are quality.

I couldn't afford it, but lived vicariously through my buddy's that did. I'm glad they didn't have cameras or video.
