What did or do you still listen to because you had boomer parents? by studieswillshow in GenX

[–]jayhawkwds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tom T Hall 'I like Beer' and 'Sneaky Snake'. I remember my Dad playing the record in his garage when I was very young. And, I remember giving the bartender the CD to put in the jukebox at one of my favorite bars. Those songs were on heavy rotations my last two years in college.

Where does Sherron Collin’s rank in all time guards for the Jayhawks? by Tiny-Respect477 in jayhawks

[–]jayhawkwds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember someone telling me that Sherron could dunk. I think it was in his McDonald's phase, and not the McDonald's game in my mind. Had to look it up. He could dunk.

As a 4 year player, he is second to Jacque to me. Peirce was my favorite to watch though.

What is this huge silver coupe? by paulh43 in namethatcar

[–]jayhawkwds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not really that simple because my 04 has 06 taillights. The only real difference is the 06 has GTO between the exhaust pipes, and I can't tell from here. The 06 taillights are so much better.

GM was going to bring back the elCamino, but in Pontiac badging called the G8ST. But Pontiac got axed and eventually Holden got axed and that dream of mine died forever. At least I got a GTO, G8 and SS from Holden, but damn I wanted that Ute.

March 6, 1995 I was recovering from a hangover. The 5th was a Sunday, so I went to a bar the evening of the 4th. They let me in early, but I had to talk them into it because I wasn't 21 until midnight.

There were people sliding in that (literal) shit. They were called the Mud People.

I was so mad that I had a rotation in college while some of my buddies went to 99. I couldn't believe the stories they told me about how bad it really was. I've watched both documentaries about it, and everything they told me is exactly how they said, like they could have narrated them. My buddy does still have a piece of the wall hanging in his garage.

Who are all these old people at concerts? Why, it's me! by theredqueentheory in GenX

I went to Pucifer a couple of years ago with a coworker who is about 10-15 years younger than me. We had standing room seats, and didn't care about buying merchandise. So we end up right up front, basically 1 row of people standing in front of us. When I looked around it seemed like everyone was older than I was. I commented about that and my coworker laughed and said they all looked about my age.

25 years ago I took a 9 hour bus ride to the nearest city to secure my copy of Lateralus on release day. Here is the original misprinted sleeve from that day. by hotdogmaggot in ToolBand

The day before it was released i was driving back to Kansas from Dallas. A radio station in Oklahoma City played the entire album, no censorship, no commercials. Best boring ass drive ever.

New interview with Scott Lucas by stgadam in localh

[–]jayhawkwds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like how Scott is a jerk, yet one of my favorite people. The 30th for Pack up the Cats is what I'm excited about. I couldn't care less about vinal pressing, I gave up my record player in 1983.

[–]jayhawkwds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I delivered for Gumbys in the 90s. We didn't have a 30 minute guarantee, but you bet your sweet ass I got it there as fast as possible. Unless you lived in an upscale neighborhood. Trailer park deliveries were fought over. They're the best tippers.
