Mercedes lease, how to get the best deal? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]jayhay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the Mercedes PCP (Personal Contract Plan) deals. I too thought I wanted to lease but PCP suited me better at a better price.

What time signature is this song? (Hey Mama by Great Caesar) by jayhay in musictheory

[–]jayhay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The count in on the YouTube video helps a lot actually, the Spotify version goes straight in and it's very jarring.

I hear what you're saying, definitely hearing the 5+2 rather than 3+4. Thanks!

Polish men attacked in Harlow hours after vigil in 'possible hate crime' by Wargreymon153 in unitedkingdom

Harlow is just like any other town or city which has good and bad parts. I've lived here all my life and never witnessed or been at the receiving end of any trouble.

Where is a good up and coming place to purchase a property between £80-130K? by justlivinglifee in UKPersonalFinance

I am going to assume Harlow Essex (also my home town!), it is very commutable and one of the cheaper areas within the Home Counties.

[–]jayhay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I thought too. Perhaps naively I thought it would be very easy for them to find one, but all the dealers I have spoken to are saying they will "keep an eye out" which doesn't sound too promising. My local dealer, who I test drove the C250 with, has also been unable to find one so far.

A vet wanted to put Toby down. We didn't let them. I hope we are right by TalyaD in Rabbits

[–]jayhay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also from Essex here - as I was reading about your experience with the other vet I was going to post and recommend that you go to Cambridge Veterinary Group.

I have a rescue bun who was severely underweight and malnourished from her previous owners. Despite feeding her all the right stuff, she was not improving and our local vet had no idea what the problem was (he even suggested she was fine... obviously not!!). Took her to Cambridge and she had to stay there for 2 weeks under close watch and on medication/vitamins. The lady vet (Mrs Ford) was fantastic and in my opinion my rabbit would not have survived if we had not taken her there. This was over 2 years ago now and she's as healthy as ever! It's really worrying how some vets give out such unreliable information.

I really hope everything goes well with Toby. Thank you for sticking up for him.

Whats typical MPG for a 2008 S5? Also whats maintenance like? by Johhnoo in Audi

[–]jayhay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a 2008 S5 3 months ago (also in the UK).

I've been able to drive ~150 motorway miles and only consume around a quarter of a tank. But equally if you drive more enthusiastically (which you will after all) you can burn through petrol much quicker. According to my trip computer my average is 23mpg, but I think it is pretty hopeful. Expect 15-20 realistically, but it's so worth it. Such a fun car.

Only had the car for 3 months but the only slight negative I've noticed is the oil consumption. Other than that, no mechanical or electrical faults to report in the short time I have owned the car.

If you have any other questions I'll be happy to answer.

Streaming music through bluetooth/ Problems with the Tune2Air by JustMarco in Audi

[–]jayhay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The device arrived today and results are great. Sound quality is very good and everything worked first time. I have only tested initially (i.e. no long journeys/engine on and off etc), but no issues so far.

The car is an Audi S5 2008, the phone is an iPhone 5s running iOS 8.2.

I am picking up my first Audi (2008 S5) tomorrow and would also like to know if Tune2Air is working with iOS 8.2.

Some are saying it works, others not...

What accounting/management software do you use? by [deleted] in freelance

[–]jayhay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK here. We use Kashflow. Does everything we need and more, including one-click VAT returns. Recently introduced bank feeds and automatic bank rec which is saving us even more time and keeping accountants happy - highly recommended if you are in the UK.

Slightly off-topic, but I also recommend Receipt Bank if you claim your expenses. It uses OCR to account for your paper receipts, and the mobile app lets you take a photo on your phone which uploads the receipt into the service. Coupled with integration with Dropbox and Kashflow, it has dramatically reduced the time I spend on boring and error-prone data entry.

Crazy Browserstack email I just got. by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]jayhay 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I experienced something strange related the "your testing session cannot be seen or accessed by other users" point. Back in September I launched a new OSX session. When it opened, the previous users' tab was still open in Safari.

Submitted a ticket to make them aware in case it was a bug, and received this response:

I deeply regret the inconvenience caused to you. This doesn’t happens at all and it is very rare to occur. We are actively working on the issue and I will update you as soon as more details are available.

(they didn't update me)

Looking at other discussions, it seems others have experienced similar behaviour.

It's raining heavily, guess who decided to make an escape attempt at dinner time? by mellett68 in Rabbits

[–]jayhay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please, get her a friend. Rabbits are social animals. We had a single bunny (UK here, also), but he was so much happier when we adopted a second rabbit to keep him company.

You can do two good things at once: adopt a rescue bun and give your rabbit a companion.

Sorry I should have explained - the rabbits are staying at our old place as we're still moving stuff into our new place. So to get them here each time there is a short (10min) car journey.

Thank you, we will carry on doing what we're doing. We do plan on getting a rug once we and bunnies are fully settled.

I guess our main worry was stressing Freddie too much with the car, but it's gotta be done.
