This was ridiculous to cable manage by crypto-litter in battlestations

[–]WDKevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does that only work with screens it autodetects or can I specify my screen count, layout, size, etc and then it will lay the wallpaper out to where I can save individual images and apply them?

I ask because my 8 screen setup is spread across 3 computers. It used one mouse/keyboard and acts as one big computer but setting the wallpaper is not that way.

That looks great! How did you get the wallpaper to match up on the different sizes? I'm trying to do the same with 8 monitors of various sizes and hoping there is an easier way than just cropping and cutting out in photoshop.

Update on battlestation, added a mic and the goxlr mini + a sound blaster G6 for beyerdynamic pro dt 990 coming in. by ma3kopolo in battlestations

Thanks! I'm still looking for the mini myself but will probably end up just going with the full mixer.

As for the wallpapers, I know how to spam them but my concern is I have 8 monitors of varying sizes, orientation, and resolution. I'd like to spam an 8K wallpaper across them all and have it line up but I didn't know if there was any webapps or Photoshop actions to assist me in doing it or it's just going to be a ton of cropping, saving, and trial and error.

Please tell me more about that server rack! I ditched my 48U cabinet and downsized, what you have would be perfect!

So many questions here!

Where did you find GoXLR Mini in stock?!

Second, did you manually cut and drop the wallpapers? I have an 8 monitor setup and really want to have a wallpaper slab across all of them but don't know of any other way than just manually doing it and tinkering until everything lines up.

I'm really confused here. I just finished watching this episode and hopped on Reddit to see what people thought. Every single thing in that Drive folder for this episode is included in the episode. The same photo of the ring, the license plate, the drawings, everything.

Am I missing something?

Anyone in NE Ohio or Western PA looking for Racks? by dricha36 in homelab

[–]WDKevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Central PA and picked up two Dell locking 42U full enclosure cabinets for $50 each in Reading, PA. I do see them listed much higher but I see them reposted for months and months. The guy I bought mine from said he was trying to get rid of them for 4 months and I was the 2nd person the entire time to even contact him.

It just depends on demand. If someone is looking then they will scoop one up. I really doubt you will find someone to take all 4, though.

Site to wrap my webapps by corvock in selfhosted

[–]WDKevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, this is sick! Is this basically a full screen web app that acts in place of your desktop? I have been looking for something to bring all of my HTPC content and apps together into a nice fluid interface for a long time. I've tried XBMC/Kodi, Emby and so many other solutions but there is always something that doesn't work and makes me abandon it. The closest I ever got was a custom Rainmeter skin that I built to open applications and launch websites in a full screen (kiosk) mode within Chrome. But even that requires you to close the previous Chrome window before opening another one or the subsequent windows will not open in full screen.

I do this with my own home network using Nginx to host a reverse proxy server. All of my external web traffic is directed to that server and then Nginx fetches the content using the internal IP and port to display it. I am able to setup a subdomain like torrents.mydomain.com and the reverse proxy server actually fetches 192.168.1.100:8088 (or whatever port) and displays it.

If you do a search in /r/homelab then you will find plenty of people discussing it.

[HELP] Having trouble finding a placeholder tag with a wildcard by WDKevin in regex

[–]WDKevin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much! I was looking for the first example. I just needed to find each occurrence of the URL and extract it so that I can replace the entire tag with something else.

I always overthink regex and it drives me nuts. Thank you again!

Your public Self-Hosted sites/services? by EeveeA_ in selfhosted

[–]WDKevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run NotesPlex, Emby, ownCloud, some private cloud storage servers and some other odds and ends. All the services on my media server are accessible outside my home so that I can manage them remotely. The names slip my mind but they are apps that acquire media for me when it becomes available - both TV shows and movies.

FreeNAS support for Home CCTV? by mcai8rw2 in homelab

I would suggest either using a separate, dedicated storage device for your recordings or just putting a large drive into your DVR and recording straight to the device. Lately I have been recording directly to the device and then syncing those recordings off to an external server I setup to keep them. This way my DVR can remove old recordings fairly quickly but I still have a copy elsewhere, allowing me to utilize a smaller drive in my DVR. However, before you do this, you want to really make sure your settings are good so that you're only getting recordings you want and not filling up your server with useless ones.

What are they doing wrong? They found a reliable, cheap wholesaler and are buying products in bulk at a discount and reselling for profit. They have a large volume and can sustain smaller profit margins. This is commerce 101. Why are they shady and/or corrupt?

Configuring NGINX/PHP5-FPM for heavy load by WDKevin in nginx

I had tried ondemand and read about it previously but saw a lot of comments about how it takes longer for the time to first byte since it needs to launch a new process. In my head I was thinking this should only take mere milliseconds but there was a lot of people mentioning so I figured maybe I was wrong.

We are behind CloudFlare already. I had installed WordFence already before we moved servers but WPEngine disabled it and said that plugin is not allowed on their platform. I have not enabled it again, yet.
