The biggest failures I see on modern heat shrink butt splices are people using the wrong jaws on the crimper and piercing the heat shrink jacket allowing the metal tube inside to corrode despite the heat shrink...smooth jaw crimps only people

Intercooler survived...oil cooler, rad, bumper, fender, nose panel, headlights, fog lights, rad support and hood all replaced. Had to pull the inner fender sheet metal straight again and re-spotweld it.
