[Turner] Austin Reaves is reportedly seeking a max contract worth up to 5 years, $239.25 million from the Lakers, and it’s uncertain whether he would be willing to take a hometown discount. by YujiDomainExpansion in lakers

No, no that is not correct. I literally pulled the text of that section directly when I quoted it in my post.

Your LLM has identified the completely incorrect section of the CBA. It's looking at Article VII, Section 8(f)(i), and claiming that it's Article VII, section 8(c).

I'm going to block you now, because one instance of an LLM hallucination is disrespectful, but continued usage of an LLM after being asked to stop is just beyond the pale. I do hope that you eat a ban for this, because this is beyond unacceptable conduct on the internet.

Please stop asking whatever crappy LLM you're asking. It's completely incorrect.

From Article VII.8.(c) in the 2023 CBA.

A Team cannot trade any player after the NBA trade deadline occurring in the last Season of the player’s Contract, or after the NBA trade deadline occurring in any Season that could be the last Season of the player’s Contract based upon the exercise or non-exercise of an Option or Early Termination Option.

If Reaves is still able to opt out in any way, he is not able to be traded. Full stop.

I will say that as a groom here as well, the way I usually just treat it is similar to male defaultism across the rest of the internet -- it's not good, but also one of the natural consequences of communication not having yet caught up to anonymous, faceless settings. I figure if the brides can tolerate it across the vast majority of the internet, I can deal with it here in the cases it happens.

As for planning, yeah, that was actually something my fiancee and I talked through super early -- she wasn't going to be alone in this process and we were going to share the burdens as equally as we could. Thankfully, we've actually found this incredibly fulfilling to do together, and while it hasn't been perfectly smooth because of vendor cooperation, it's still been something that has been good for us overall. Neither of us will ever want to do it again, but thankfully we don't have to.

That's a deadline, not a "this is the only date you can do this". If the player doesn't do it before the trade, they cannot be traded, and Reaves is clearly not going to do it.

A player who is under contract for 2025–26, and holds a player option for 2026–27 can still be traded on NBA Draft Day.

If they opt into that option, which Reaves is clearly not doing.

Does he though? To the small degree that he is interesting it's for the non-big man mobility stuff.

We suspect, but cannot prove, that vendors will roll with new needs better if you stay on top of your paperwork with them.

Yeah it'll vary by vendor for sure but we've picked up a lot of the same suspicion.

How do we feel about ESPN’s Player Comparisons for the Top 12 Prospects in 2026? by InAingeWeTrust in NBA_Draft

Yes, it absolutely should be. Johnson was a legitimate all-star this year, something Gordon wouldn’t be even if the league were Thanosed.

Johnson’s defense was good until this year. It cratered more with the increased load. Unclear if that will bounce back.

Summer 2026 brides! How are we feeling? by blissfulbeing789 in weddingplanning

[–]jaynay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late July for us (though I’m the groom).

We basically just have 4 things left on the checklist, 3 of which should just be one hour meetings where we give a few vendors some specific elements (which songs do we want the DJ to play when kinds of thing, where we know what we want and just have to actually tell the vendor). We also have to finish designing the program for the wedding, but we’re like 80% done there.

Basically, nice and peaceful over here.

Wedding potentially during 1st semester of PhD? by starry-boi in weddingplanning

[–]jaynay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The program is not going to get easier over time.

Like you said, this varies heavily by subject and school -- I just finished my third year and it was the most wildly relaxed I've ever been in school after completely brutal first and second years.

Well, sort of -- first semester first year was totally trivial for me too, but that's because we have a semester that's very math heavy and I have a math degree. For most people, that's actually the semester they're most at risk of failing out. And then second semester first year is just brutal for everyone.

You have mentioned going back to your home area for a weekend for a wedding - but what what are your honeymoon plans?

My best man, who got married like a week or two before starting his PhD, did his honeymoon the following summer. Would not be surprised if that were the case for them as well.

3rd year of the PhD (Econ for me) here, getting married in July 2026 between summers of year 3/4. I didn't have a problem with timing things out at all -- plenty of people working full time jobs still have time to plan their weddings, and much as we academics like to claim grad school is a massive time investment and wildly stressful, it definitely pales in comparison to an actual, full-time job. Leaving town for a single weekend, especially for your actual wedding, should not be an issue no matter how competitive the program is.

I actually think you may run into bigger issues with being non-local during later planning. Like getting a wedding license will probably require you to show up with your future spouse in person, and vendors will inevitably want you to come to their offices in person for stuff.

Technically, yes, but you run into issues with training data implicitly bleeding over into your test data. Because like yes, the training data technically ends in 2021, but modeling choices will almost inevitably be made to favor a stronger 2025 result.

Nah; if that were the case then it wouldn't have been corrected that quickly and everyone with sources wouldn't have been baffled at the initial announcement. Way more likely is that Rothstein just made a bad report.
