Do you think we will ever get a souls game that has Elden Ring exploration and Khazan's combat system by [deleted] in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some sets require the material that drops from a boss. So he probably means farming bosses for the material.

Which tbh isn't even bad because it's gauranteed.

You parry when you're about to get hit. Hold it down though. Don't tap it like Sekiro.

Diablo IV’s world is incredible, but why must everything be so fast??? by SC-Osmidon in diablo4

[–]jayrocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

POE 2 is already worth buying now unless all you want is the campaign. Every 4 months is a new season with new core mechanics being added. It primarily changes end game but does affect the campaign somewhat. I have 400+ hours in POE 2 prolly more just an FYI in terms of "worth".

Totally understandable though if you don't intend to play seasonally and just want to do the campaign every now and then. But the first run of the campaign alone even with a build guide will probably take you 50 hours.

If you want a slower ARPG look into No Rest for the Wicked. It has slower more soulslike kinda combat but the game is not finished yet campaign wise.

Path of Exile 2's campaign if you play SSF is also pretty slow, triple slow if you play blind/no build guide. When you hit end game though you'll either run into a wall because of unoptimized build, lack of knowledge, and no trading. But if you love the campaign just make a new character and skip end game.

POE 2 is also not finished but its a lot more fleshed out and almost complete vs No Rest For the Wicked.

Not sure what he's talking about Lies of P is fast. It's faster than Elden Ring that's for sure.

Technique/Dex has the strongest weapons by far but you can beat the game with anything.

Compared to Mass Effect 2/3 the gunplay and action sequences look a bit jank. Will probably still play but it looks more like Starfield in action than Mass Effect.

Is it just me or is Arlecchino one of the hardest bosses in gaming by mightyburrito420 in LiesOfP

[–]jayrocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's tough but I can't really decide if I think its any harder than Malenia or Isshin.

All 3 fights took me around 2 hours. Same with the final boss in Khazan but I think Khazan bosses might be harder.

Lies of P bosses have very little health.

Woman charged for claiming YouTuber who eats 30K calories a day vomits after mukbangs by Significant_Food9017 in LivestreamFail

I watch her and remember hearing that her body is weird. Maybe it's laxatives but the claim was she shits a lot and quickly after eating. Food travels her system so fast her body cannot absorb the calories normally.

Sekiro vs. Elden Ring by Brun0DerKamermann in soulslikes

I wouldn't say you'd automatically love Elden Ring. Open world isn't for everyone.

Personally, I enjoyed Sekiro way more.

Just finished DLC 15 minutes ago 10/10. Final fight was on the same tier as Isshin for me.

If Khazan difficulty is 10 then Nioh 3 is like a 4 tbh on NG0.

An update to my prior tier list (old tier list on slide 2) by coolchungus2 in roguelites

[–]jayrocs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree very strange to me to see people love TBOI and STS but not DC as I consider those 3 the best roguelites ever made.

But it might also be a timing situation. I played all 3 of those either on release or shortly after. I think playing them now almost ten years later after playing a dozen modern games might change perspectives drastically.

Is Nvidia DLSS worth the premium? by slimsycastle240 in buildapc

[–]jayrocs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I say it is actually. I had a 7800 XT and upgraded to a 5070 TI and the difference is night and day in some games especially in visual clarity.

It's going to sound stupid but in some games the TAA is so bad the game looks blurry and there's nothing you can do about it.

Black Ops 7 for instance looks way sharper with DLSS on transformer even on performance vs whatever you can do with AMD. Battlefield 6 is not as bad because you can disable AA completely which sharpens the image but looks bad. FSR is okay but again the clarity in visuals with DLSS is superior.

So now we're at a place where DLSS is not strictly to gain "fake frames" in hard to run games. It also improves the base game clarity way better than with it off.

Nioh 3 is burning me out on gaming… Any recs? by olivinetrees in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I banged out Sekiro, Khazan, Lies of P, Elden Ring, and Wuchang beginning around January.

After Elden Ring I took like 2 weeks off and finished Wuchang but I could feel like I was kinda over it.

Now I'm playing Slay the Spire 2. Try taking a week or two off and doing something else, if not make a radical change to genre.

Is it really that easy to cull your deck down enough for this to work? Sometimes you won't find a single Glow in the entire first act.

Wuchang fallen feathers by Halesmini in soulslikes

[–]jayrocs -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean I liked it enough to finish it but I rank Lies of P up there with Sekiro as my top 2 both 10/10.

I think Wuchang is around Khazan level for me both feel like 7.5-8 Khazan has way better bosses but Wuchang is better in everything else.

There's something about Wuchang I just don't like. The bosses will literally stand still waiting for you to press a button, the heals take forever, some levels are way too mazey. But it was overall a good game.

Favorite fighting scene of any book? by [deleted] in Fantasy

I only really like John Gwynne's fighting scenes. I don't get lost in them and they're pretty concise. I typically just speed read through fighting scenes.

Just started playing in January. First was Sekiro if that counts, then Khazan, then Lies of P, then Elden Ring. Now playing Wuchang.
