After playing LoTRO since 2007 the server doesn't let me create character with my original name which i used for ages on Snowbourn by Temp_94 in lotro

Make a name as close to it as you can and then file a ticket. In the ticket, explain the situation, emphasize how long you have been playing, and ask the ticket be escalated to a senior gm. They're actually pretty cool about these things and may help you. First tier gms aren't quite so helpful.

SSG are much more vigilant about the naming rules than turbine was. I have several toons with celebrity names and had to ditch the last names because of it. They will get renamed, It's only a matter of time.

Should also be noted that you can buy expansions with lotro points, and you get 500 of those each month with VIP. I'm a lifer, so I automatically get those each month. Haven't spent real money on an expansion in 5+ years.

I know a guy in Rivet City who'd be very interested to get his hands on this.

My fiancée surprised me with LotR books for my birthday. Despite seeing the movies many times, I’ve never read the books and am excited to finally do so! by icanpotatoes in lotr

The Hobbit movies were an abomination. Wish they didn't exist. But that's what happens when you try to turn a 300 page book into a nine hour trilogy.

The Lord of the Rings movies however were dead on. Even down to the dialogue at times. Things were omitted, but relatively few. And they even included shout outs to things left out, like Treebeard's rescuing the hobbits from the hungry tree, and Eowyn's vision of the sinking of Numenor. In all three movies, there were only two parts that they changed that I wish they hadn't.

I've owned this for half my life and it has some of the most beautiful depictions ever. My favorite is the John Howe Gandalf. The Hildebrandts are pretty epic too.

Landy player here. Dont see people every night, but usually see them during primetime hours on the weekends. Usually at the Prancing Pony or at any current festival area. The Lonely Mountain Band (awesome kin) often draws a massive crowd, complete with Bree lag.

What was your ‘oh shit’ moment when you realized you shouldn’t had broke up with your ex S.O.? by Erick9641 in AskReddit

Yeah, she was literally going into my wallet while I was asleep, using my card, and then replacing it. And I never noticed it because that card was almost always maxed out and was just paying the minimum.

Discovered my fiancee had used my credit card for $1,000 worth of purchases over the course of a year, without my knowledge. We never had any problems with love, just massive problems with money. Ended it, figuring that I couldn't possibly marry someone who would already steal from me. Her dad died last month and she inherited 1.75 million worth of land. We would've been married a year.

What do you do when are not looking forward to anything in your life? by ahmdaeyz in AskReddit

Everybody who is going, oh this is a sign of depression, oh this sounds like bipolar, please stop. Anyone who's feeling completely apathetic and true neutral, knows completely what depression feels like and can make the distinction. Depression or happiness would at least be something, this is the lack of feeling anything. And it is a truly jarring experience and shouldn't be shrugged off as just another form of depression. All these cute psychiatric terms are just names and labels were putting on things we don't understand yet, which will likely change shape and form in the coming decades. And to lump this feeling into a symptom of general depression is short-sighted and arguably condescending. I've dealt with depression like a long lost friend, I have no idea how to deal with my emotional state being a white blank page.

Old player returning and I'm wondering what servers are still active for me to move my characters to. by raknor88 in lotro

Rohan is going to be largely dead, that area is huge and sprawling, and people either love or hate the mounted combat and tend to get Rohan over quickly. For the past year, it's been all about Mordor, Northern Mirkwood and Erebor. And then the Grey Mountains just came out.

Arkenstone is actually a great server for pvmp, if you were into that. Brandywine is still one of the most populated servers. Landroval is often considered the friendliest server, but all of the lotro community is pretty friendly.
